As a Brit, I believe Mcrory won just by the amount of punches thrown. Think a lot of judges are impressed by aggression. Shame Colin had never developed an upper-cut. I would also have realised Mcrory was a tall guy so just keep hitting him in the body. I noticed whenever Colin did that Milton would wilt. Great fight and no head-butting or other shenanigan's. Hat's off to two great warriors.

This was IMO British Boxing's golden age - we had great fighters at world level and we had seven world champions at one time plus many others earning title shots. Colin showed true heart, and it meant a lot for Britsh fighters to win on American soil - even better winning a world title!!

I was in 8th grade when this fight took place, we were all talking about it Monday at school. Greg Kihn playing in the build up, Tony Basil clip, how can you not like it.

Great fight, but I gave both bouts to McCrory - this was closer than the return, but, 'The Iceman' wins both for me - thanks for uploading.

Surely McCory reach longer than 70 inches more like 79 inches

Two tough forgotten welterweight wars here in the early 80’s.
Mccrory always that just bit better than Jones in there evenly matched boxers. Mccrory always nicks it with him and the Tough dangerous Jones 🥊

    Colin Jones: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
    Milton McCrory: 1, 2, 3, 5
    Draw: 4, 6
Great fight! Good styles matchup. I thought the Brit thrashed the American 7-12. Even in round 12, when McCrory did some good work, Jones' punches were just more powerful/effective. He almost had Mcrory out of there. It was the same with round 11: a lot of those flurries were shoeshine punches, although McCrory did some good work and made it closer.
I actually felt bad for Jones in the first half. It looked like a total mismatch. Round 4 could easily go to McCrory, although round 6 was close and could go to either guy.
Both guys dominated each other in their half of the fight, but I always got the sense that even when getting dominated, the Brit's jabs and hooks were effecting the American. The Brit should've gone to the body earlier rather than focus on head hunting. This would have allowed the Brit to more clearly win a couple of more rounds and, thus, the title.

Good fight. But what is up with the cheer leader girls at the 6:44 mark into the vid?

Thought Mcrory won … Jones celebrated the draw like a win. Great effort from both

Had this been for the WBA title over 15 rounds then it is a certainty Jones would have won, he was much the stronger fighter towards the end.

Good fight, maybe Milton's hand injury months before hurt him here.

No doubt he would have got the decision in both fights had they been held in Britain.
