I tend to agree. IMHO, however, there's also this: incarcerating a former POTUS would go a long way in further reducing America's so-called 'soft power' abroad. For those not familiar with the term, 'soft power' is America's foreign policy influence, wielded to make things happen a certain way without resorting to military action, or 'hard power'. Also, Trump would become a living martyr to the MAGA movement, not unlike how some high-ranking Nazis convicted at Nuremburg after WW2 and held in Spandau Prison became idols of and post-war rallying points for the burgeoning neo-Nazi movement.
