With how Adyneus sent down Yhwach into the whirlpool that became the human world before he was mutilated, it could be that Yhwach was the soul king's contingency. Of course with how the anime showed Yhwach covered in darkness as he was reborn into the new world, it all but implies Ichibei did it to prevent any chance of retribution from Yhwach, the son of the Soul King (Ichibei took away Adyneus' name and took possession of his remains once the ancestors were done with him).
