Creating my DREAM ENTRY DESIGN - First NEW BUILD Space Revealed

Come along as we share each space of our new home build, room by room as I decorate! In 2020 I first sketched an idea for the entry of our home. I continued to draw until the whole home was designed, something different than anything I’d ever seen before and we set to work making it happen! Fast forward to present time - it’s done. This creation is tangible now and it hit me hard during filming this video! Sooo excited we were able to fight through all the challenges along the way and build this home that feels like an expression of me and my family.
With European/Mediterranean influence, lots of character pieces we’ve collected over the years and a few new finds too- I’m sharing how I brought this space to life with carefully curated furniture & decor! I love blending a little modern with the handmade historic details of the past. Also some unexpected moments like the organic style planter built right into our staircase! I think I'm a you tube decorating addict. This is the most beautiful entry I've ever seen. From US, Europe, past or present. You can bet it will be copied by many. I remember the arch over your stove in your other house, it was copied after that, and always looks beautiful, even though it wouldn't be affordably possible in my house. This entry is so "COZY GRAND"!!!! I missed your videos. I saw this house started, then nothing. So happy to see this beautiful video. Ok this is the third video I'm watching of hers and my intrusive thoughts have been fighting to NOT leave a comment asking if she's drunk in all her videos and if so I need to know what she's drinking 😂 for me it's not her behavior its the way she speaks and slurs her words. Wonderful! Yes, keep the cove on the second floor simple. The stones and the view are enough. Anything else will take away and be competing. I’m not a designer but I can appreciate beautiful and inviting spaces when I see one.

Your home is warm and inviting. The stairs are my favorite aspect - how they managed the construction - they look futuristic and traditional at the same time. In love with the elements of your house. 🥰
The staircase is lovely. It reminds me of some I've seen in Santa Fe. My mother in law had a large brick built-in plant trough but it served more as a green divider between the living and dining space. The euonymus looks good in your staircase trough but I suspect it will not get enough light. You'll need something that can thrive in indirect light. Hopefully you won't have to compromise on appearance. Love your enthusiasm!

Ofcourse you'll do as you see fit, but I'd wait until the house is fully decorated, before I'd add another thing here. Just to stay on the safe side! The entryway is great! I wouldn’t add pillows or anything else anywhere. Maybe a rug in front of the door but only for practicality. Less is more. Love the planter and your excitement is catching. Kudos to you from another interior designer

Love the space so far! If you want to keep things minimal, would still definitely add pillows and a rug in the bench-across-bench room, and the landing going up the stairs I think needs at least a tree (great lighting there for a real tree), and even some art work on the wall above each end of the day bed to help ground and complete that space. Looks a little too bare and incomplete to me. Love the plants in the stairway dropping! That was a cool idea! 💡

😊 LOVE the arc door, the paint color, the stone walls, the sconces, and circle table with vase. Glad you designed the staircase away from the front door, vs facing the steps toward the door. I like walking into a foyer than a stairway. A grand entry!

Beautiful home! I don’t see a baseboard and the bottom of the wall looks finished! Can you explain how you did that with the floors and drywall? What wood floors did you use?
I wanted a minimal look here in the entry so I had the drywall company take it down all the way to the floor to create that. I would have loved to carry that through the entire house but the cost is quite a bit more so most of the house has baseboard, as you’ll see in the following reveals.

Great question! After our first house had a coat closet that we never used I eliminated it in the next three, including this one. We haven’t missed it. The guest room is nearby (revealing that space next week) and the mudroom has lockers so plenty of other options.

Designed them and had them custom manufactured. I believe they came over on a boat from China.

If your live plants don't work out you should go to Afloral or Prestige Botanicals for their faux plant selections. You will never be able to tell they are faux and it will solve all your problems with trying to keep plants alive at that location.

It looks nice (not for me), happy for you. But it doesn’t look like home design to me, I’d never know that’s a home if you hadn’t told us. Hits me more like a book/candle store in a southwest region. I’m wondering if there’s a touch you could add to soften it, it reads somewhat hard. I’d definitely add rugs and pillows.

I promise I say this from a place of love- it’s hard to stay with you when you’re talking because you you so “um”, “uhhh”, and “like” so much. That paired with you not staying on task with your structure of speaking. It’s extremely hard.
