I remember the waves which had like 20 translucent ponies (or ‘jelly ponies’ as my family called them) and like 5 normal ones. The translucent ones always felt like a bit of a booby prize.
Fun fact about those blind bag toys, they're durable as fuck. I brought one to school in 2nd grade and some kid chucked it into the cornfield next door. Three years later, we find it in that same cornfield. A little sun-bleached with a small chip taken out of the tail, but otherwise perfectly fine. I also had the Octavia with the cello. She fell out of my backpack pocket and got run-over by a school bus. Had to glue the cello back on, but otherwise perfect condition. Props to whoever formulated the plastic these things were made of, they're pretty-much indestructible.
i have a very similar story for the g3 minifigs! a year or two ago my mom gave me one of my old mini g3 ponies after finding her in one of her gardens (had to of been there for at least 6 years i think since i think thats the latest i would have put my old ponies into storage) which only had some nicks on the side of her face, the hair is a separate mold so not only did it not get sunbleached from what i can tell but basically all of the painted details were still intact lol

Lol if their personality shines through and they’re passionate I’ll sit and watch just about anything. I’ve seen a couple seasons of FiM but tbh I more so just enjoy hearing people talk about it.

Ahh blind bags, where my favourite pony had one single release and nobody is selling her online literally anywhere. I have a cute fluttershy figure but i'd *kill* For sunset.
The trick is to find bundles with her in it on eBay if you wanna be smart with resources. I found multiple listings of people selling her alone for like $40, but found packs with like 50 ponies with her included for $100 or so.

Our shop used to sell discarded, errorred and wrongly manufactured blindbag figures for dirty cheap. I used to own a pink Twilight recolor with orange mane and turquoise pinky with white mane and these looked super nice. I really hope to find these one day again

For 52:57, she`s based off the early-on brushable versions of Luna. Back then, those colors were included into her toys. Probably for the same reason as Pinklestia She did get a more accurate color scheme around the G4.5 era of the toys
I think I remember the reason was that Hasbro thought Lauren Faust's designs aren't 'pink' and 'marketable' enough for princess ponies (getting this title instead of queen ponies was also a marketing decision) so they released them in more pinkish colors. Apparently this strategy turned against Hasbro, as girls didn't want to buy an innacurate Celestia.
I’ve got to say that I loved collecting these as a kid and I love the wacky color schemes. The cherry one was actually my favorite as a kid. My friend and I would trade each other blind bag ponies and I traded one of mine to get her. I know they aren’t show accurate but I never really cared. I liked the different colors on the different molds. It might just be nostalgia but I genuinely loved the designs for these.
Fun facc: horses rear up like applejack and Rainbow dash do in their figures. But it is only for a few moments but the pose is so cool that alot of companies make that pose a thing for horse toys in general
Bumblesweet was one of the many G3 ponies they nabbed to turn into blind bag ponies- her G3 counterpart has a honey pot as part of her cutie mark and her back card says she's a baker. "Everyone says Bumblesweet is just as sweet as honey - and they're right! She likes to make sweet things to eat, too - like fudge and jellybeans and rainbow colored - taffy! No wonder her friends like to drop by to see what's cooking!" Also hoo boy- when you move into the unreleased toys you're gonna get VERY used to sweetie blue. For such a random pony she has some insane lore. Same with Starswirl the Beardless I assume Comet Tail has weird looking eyes on his card because he's a recolor of Shining Armor, who as you established doesn't have an outline around his eyes in the card art so his eyes bleed into his coat
18:38 YEP. When I was a kid my mom found these at the store and got all of them for my birthday, but she couldn't find Fluttershy for the life of her. So she told me that and we started trying to find her every once in a while. I actually did find her later in a set based on the second episode with the everfree forest, and the toy actually looked really nice ❤️ I still have a box full of these little guys and I pull them out of the shelf every once in a while, unfortunately my dumb child self messed up some of them with acetone so I have to repaint them but it's all fine.
Despite the inaccuracies, I have huge nostalgic feelings for these blindbags. There’s something I just love with the variation, simplicity and quality(which is honestly much better than most other toys minis are that I see nowadays)

As someone who played with my little pony toys in the 90s, I didn't even know what their names were supposed to be and renamed most of them myself like pokemon. I never made much of a connection with the show. I always thought the shows were a spinoff from the toys, not the other way around
Cherry spices is beautiful sir! One of the only mini figures i own because i saw her in a second hand bag of ponies, bought it just for her and donated everyone else! She looks like a chocolate cake with strawberry filling! One of the more unique colour combos i've seen on a pony.

Finally justice for Sweet Cream Scoops. ^^ Since she's basically a recolor of Twilight Sparkle, my headcanon is that SCS was friends with Pinkie, Rainbow, Rarity, AJ and Flutters before Twilight showed up, the five of them dumped SCS as a friend afterward.

I’ve never watched MLP, i know almost no characters except the obvious ones, I never owned the old toys as a kid, and I have zero interest in the franchise personally, but something about your interest and knowledge in this specific subject is very entertaining/engaging to watch, and I’ll probably watch this whole video anyway haha

They are rather...déclassé and inaccurate, plus i dislike that they over utilize certain molds, but i adore them. you know what i hate most about the blindbags? the fact that a lot of them weren't just random ponies but actually returning G3 characters who were unfortunate enough to recieve the Mane 6 Recolor™ treatment that most characters got (Bumblesweet turning into a Pinkie Pie recolor, Coconut Cream an AJ recolor, Waterfire being a Twilight recolor, etc as examples) worst part is most of these characters never seen any release in the toyline other than that

Despite all their inaccuracies, I'd definitely say I'm more of a blind bag guy than a brushable guy. The blind bags (and minifigures in general) seem to have been made more with Bronies in mind than the brushables were, especially since they have solid manes and a wider range of molds, they had male ponies before the brushables did, and I think it says quite a bit they released Ditzy Doo, Dr. Whooves and all those other fan-favourite background ponies years before they even released Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Spike.
Despite being a little girl at the time MLP was aired I never liked when toys had real hair because it always got tangled unless I brushed it which I didn't like doing. I loved my blind bags. I still have a lot of them.

I think some of the G3 ponies are unicorns and pegasi when they’re actually earth ponies is because the company needed more variety? Like, most of the G3 ponies are earth ponies so they probably needed to change them for it to fit? That aside, I’m 45-ish minutes (edit: almost an hour, my bad) into the video and loving it. The colour and card info inconsistencies are hilarious from how unexplainable they are. I remember getting these as a kid and honestly thinking that these were a rip-off from the horrible descriptions, and inaccurate recolourings and designs of the characters I knew, but then I’d see the Hasbro logo which would get me so confused. Thank you for the 3 hour long video! I enjoy it lots so far! Not usually into longer analysis videos, but I’m so here for your content.

I assume Comet Tail has weird looking eyes on his card because he's a recolor of Shining Armor, who as you established doesn't have an outline around his eyes in the card art so his eyes bleed into his coat
18:38 YEP. When I was a kid my mom found these at the store and got all of them for my birthday, but she couldn't find Fluttershy for the life of her. So she told me that and we started trying to find her every once in a while. I actually did find her later in a set based on the second episode with the everfree forest, and the toy actually looked really nice ❤️ I still have a box full of these little guys and I pull them out of the shelf every once in a while, unfortunately my dumb child self messed up some of them with acetone so I have to repaint them but it's all fine.
Despite the inaccuracies, I have huge nostalgic feelings for these blindbags.

I believe that rarity has the two colored main and the early blind bags as her early concept art included the two hair colors.
While I'm not into My Little Pony anymore, I still have a huge softspot for these early toys. I remember I pulled a Roseluck out of one of these bags, she was my favorite one along with my Lemon Hearts. The day I lost her was devastating.

As someone who played with my little pony toys in the 90s, I didn't even know what their names were supposed to be and renamed most of them myself like pokemon. I never made much of a connection with the show. I always thought the shows were a spinoff from the toys, not the other way around

Cherry spices is beautiful sir! One of the only mini figures i own because i saw her in a second hand bag of ponies, bought it just for her and donated everyone else! She looks like a chocolate cake with strawberry filling! One of the more unique colour combos i've seen on a pony.

The reason that the original Rarity figure has pink in her mane is that her figure is partially based on her concept design which has pink hair in it
Finally justice for Sweet Cream Scoops. ^^ Since she's basically a recolor of Twilight Sparkle, my headcanon is that SCS was friends with Pinkie, Rainbow, Rarity, AJ and Flutters before Twilight showed up, the five of them dumped SCS as a friend afterward.

I’ve never watched MLP, i know almost no characters except the obvious ones, I never owned the old toys as a kid, and I have zero interest in the franchise personally, but something about your interest and knowledge in this specific subject is very entertaining/engaging to watch, and I’ll probably watch this whole video anyway haha
With a name like "Sweetcream Scoops", I feel like she could've easily have been implemented as an ice cream vendor in the actual show. I mean, cows are harvested for milk and diary, and ice cream is a food item in the show. Soooo, that would've been cool.

Fun fact: sweetie blue (mentioned around 12:58) was almost made into a brushable, but never made it past the prototype stage. There are some prototypes floating around and they are worth a ton of money. They’re rumored to have been given to hasbro/MLP team members
you know what i hate most about the blindbags? the fact that a lot of them weren't just random ponies but actually returning G3 characters who were unfortunate enough to recieve the Mane 6 Recolor™ treatment that most characters got (Bumblesweet turning into a Pinkie Pie recolor, Coconut Cream an AJ recolor, Waterfire being a Twilight recolor, etc as examples)
worst part is most of these characters never seen any release in the toyline other than that

Despite all their inaccuracies, I'd definitely say I'm more of a blind bag guy than a brushable guy. The blind bags (and minifigures in general) seem to have been made more with Bronies in mind than the brushables were, especially since they have solid manes and a wider range of molds, they had male ponies before the brushables did, and I think it says quite a bit they released Ditzy Doo, Dr. Whooves and all those other fan-favourite background ponies years before they even released Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Spike.
Despite being a little girl at the time MLP was aired I never liked when toys had real hair because it always got tangled unless I brushed it which I didn't like doing. I loved my blind bags. I still have a lot of them.
As a kid i was always mad that fluttershy didn’t get her own mold at first cause it was inaccurate and fluttershy was my favorite lol

I think some of the G3 ponies are unicorns and pegasi when they’re actually earth ponies is because the company needed more variety? Like, most of the G3 ponies are earth ponies so they probably needed to change them for it to fit? That aside, I’m 45-ish minutes (edit: almost an hour, my bad) into the video and loving it. The colour and card info inconsistencies are hilarious from how unexplainable they are. I remember getting these as a kid and honestly thinking that these were a rip-off from the horrible descriptions, and inaccurate recolourings and designs of the characters I knew, but then I’d see the Hasbro logo which would get me so confused. Thank you for the 3 hour long video! I enjoy it lots so far! Not usually into longer analysis videos, but I’m so here for your content.
