In 1989 the four column ring pontoon semi, Lang's MPSS, was presented to the Institution of Engineers and Shipbulders in Scotland by Professor Douglas Faulkner occupant of the John Elder Chair of Engineering at Glasgow University. Pior to that it had been approved by Atkins, Lloyd Register and ABS and major oil companies. It was fully protected by copyright. It incorporated lessons learned on semis that had bankrupted several shipards and engineerings companies in the UK and USA. Today, 2023, it is sweeping all others from the deep sea projects and has enabled the addition of other fiidds by tiebacks. With this total victory we are now ready to dominate the seepsea floating wind challenge.
