They need to be started every month or two, just to keep them ready for the next problem we will have to deal with 😢 James is the place to learn about generator repair 😊
I paid $6 for 4 corded drills last week. One was a 1/2 inch Craftsman 6 amp big drill, a PowrKraft Montgomery Ward drill that looks brand new, that has to be 30 years old, and two cheap HF warrior type cheap drills that both work. Good to have a corded drill to flash generators with!
I have never seen that trick before. Spin a drill backwards. I can’t wrap my head around that one on how that makes it work unless it a reverse polarity shock. 🙃🙃
Hey Tom! I like that trick of yours, never seen that before I'll have too store that in the memory bank. I have to look at my genny, it's been a few months. Glad you and mom are safe from the storm! I've been watching all your old video's while I'm laying in bed recovering from radiation treatment(monday morning)been very tired. Although your video's have been keeping me up when needed so thank you. Did you figure out the Quantum push mower? Didn't hear you say anything during your shop update.
I have never seen that before on how to get the generator working again. Like I said in your previous video, I don't really have any experience on working portable generators. Good video as always. Did you find out what happened to that push mower you worked on the other day? Was it a sheared flywheel key, bad coil?
Tom, please leave the link for the magnetic lights you use. They look very handy. I have the Dewalt light, but it's not magnetic, like you know....... thanks Joe
Tom got as a Christmas gift. It is a Braun from Harbor Freight. Right now they have coupon for it in their coupon deals. It is better than the Icon one they sell.
Hello Tom From Kentucky. I was sort of wondering if maybe the one of the rings that the presses against wasn’t just a little bit corroded causing to not produce 110v for the grinder that you plugged in to the generator. A few years back, I had a 200 amp gasoline powered Hobart Welder that I used to have a similar issue with after the machine had sat idle for a while. The mud dobbers absolutely loved to build their “Mud Condominiums” all around the armature and the DC 110v side and the welding side would not exite until I removed the cover band and physically picked out the mud. After that, I would then saturate the area with a generous amount of WD-40 and free up both sets of brushes and then take compressed air and blow it out. After starting up the engine, The brushes would usually always clean up the armature surface and the generator worked just fine. Of Course, That was old technology, that needed a tweaking from time to time. I think @JamesCondon would take a small piece of scuff pad and shine up the armature if the armature was very tarnished and then reassemble everything if I remember correctly. His friend @BassGuitarPlayer also had many great generator repair videos
give James Condons channel a look he does mostly generator videos on his channel

Good job Tom, sometimes it's hit and miss on exciting the field...... but it will work as you have shown. 👍
