That’s especially useful for users that switched to Mac, like me. So, thank you. What still has to be understood how this spaces concept works best with my two external monitors from my laptop. At the moment when I switch to another space it switches also on the other monitors. What a a pain.
Is there a way that I can make my 2 desktop screens hold different files? I want the main screens to be completely different... ex: desktop 1 has all personal files, and desktop 2 would have work files
Recently switched to Mac and this is one area where MAC disappoints. The multi tasking features in MAC is no match what windows 11 has to offer. :( Missing all of those features.
I have been using two monitors, but have been utilizing the spaces/desktop feature. It seems the control and moving the arrow left or right only works for the macbook, not on the external monitor.
MacOS 14 seems to have the menu bar on each of the displays, and because of that you have separate spaces/desktops for each monitor. How to disable that? In previous versions of MacOS the menu bar was just on one display... and spaces/displays would switch all screens.
I don't like one thing: I have 5 apps, each app is assigned to one desktop, so I have 5 desktops. If I quit one app! I still have 5 desktops, one is empty! So when I switch between desktops I see a empty desktop. The desktop should be close it if empty and crated again if I open that app (due that app is assigned to that desktop). You got my point? That's just an example, due I have around 10 desktops and I close 5 apps, so I ending with 5 empty desktops.
I have my Mac in clamshell mode and use 3 monitors. The monitors each have a desktop number 1 to 3. However I want Desktop 1 to be on a different monitor and the same for desktop 2 and 3. So large monitor as desktop 1, 15" potable monitor as desktop 2 and finally iPad via sidecar as desktop 3. I can't seem to change this order. Is there a way?
It seams that everytime I am on a desktop, and I try to make an application on full screen, is moving that application from the specific desktop I was in. Does anyone know how to make the app in full screen and to remain in that specific desktop?
Thanks a lot It's really helpful I'm new on Mac os just getting used to it. Had a question do people use Mac apps on mostly full screen mode ? I find my self doing that a lot and that's like one app on one space/dekstop and have to swipe left and right ?
spaces are useless since it is impossible to disable that slow ass sliding animation that takes forever before it actually shifts focus to the new space
My desktop has the HD icon and six folders on it, but when I open Mission Control by "Control up arrow" it opens with two empty spaces and says "No windows available". How do I get my desktop, with the folders, to show in Mission Control? I need to move the photos in the folders into the Photobook Editor.
My guess is you have multiple Spaces, and you are on a Space without any windows. Try swiping up again and then move your cursor to the top of your display. You can then close empty Spaces. 😊
It depends. When you shut down your computer, it will ask if you want to open all the current windows when it restarts. If that is checked, then all your windows will open again. 😊
Thanks a lot! After more than 30 years, I've just migrated from Windows to Mac and the adaptation process is driving me crazy. That was very useful.
Thank you! Great pacing, clear and informative. Hero's don't always wear capes.... but often glasses.
Glad it was helpful! And thanks!! 😊

Years using an iMac and never knew how to do this. Thanks!

Perfect! I accidentily made 3 desktops and wanted to make them go away and explaining what they are helped me do that!
I wish you could rename the Spaces. That would be super helpful.
This is really helpful. I have been using Macs for years but have only just discovered this feature. Thank you so much for posting.
Very Clear. Exactly what I was looking for and more. This is going to help my productivity a great deal.
Great to hear!
@@DansTutorials can you label the spaces/desktops ?

Thanks for this.
Can one easily display a particular window of a multi-window app on all spaces? Thanks!
I was wondering the same lol
try using different safari windows in different spaces :/
using a 49 inch monitor , can i move it and keep it single to be a screen on its own ?
This is one thing that’s underused by me. All the yrs I’ve had Mac’s I’ve never used it.
Thanks Dan!
You are welcome! 😊
THank you for your vid
Hi Dan! I really loved your intonation and voice projection skills, well done! Can u kindly name your microphone brand, the quality is awesome.
Thanks! It is an Elgato Wave:3 mic.
Is there any way to rename a desktop? It would provide better accessibility.
Unfortunately you cannot rename it. ☹️
how do you switch to another window inside the same desktop with out going through the rest of the windows grom other desktops
Thanks
Welcome
Thanks Dan extremely clear and really helpful. I have two monitors how do desktops work with that situation. Many thanks again. Julie
Glad it helped!

Can you have different folders on different desktops?
Sorry, you can't. The Mac has the one desktop folder which is used by al the desktops.
Is there any way to have different folders on different desktops?
Sorry, but that is not possible as far as I know. ☹️

Unfortunately there is not a way to do this. ☹️
If we shut down the computer, will my desktop with lots of open windows disappear?
It depends. When you shut down your computer, it will ask if you want to open all the current windows when it restarts. If that is checked, then all your windows will open again. 😊
how do I disable this. Very annoying
Unfortunately there is not a way to disable this. It is part of Mission Control. ☹️
apple did a bad job here with this feature.. windows multiple desktop feature is way better.
agree
how to hell do we rename those fucking desktops ???? apple made it so f counterintuitive
So helpful! Thank you!
