How NOT To Do Photogrammetry

  • Photogrammetry is challenging at the best of times and in my pursuit of photorealistic assets for virtual production I have made countless mistakes. Most recently on my last video where I attempted to make an Unreal Engine 5 short film in three days and tried to make a hero asset with photogrammetry but failed spectacularly (thank god for megascans). So in this video I go back to try and make the same asset again...but better. To do this I will have to fix my top five biggest photogrammetry mistakes.
    In this video I cover (in brief) the whole photogrammetry pipeline. I start with optimal settings for shooting using the panasonic S1H, then cover image processing with adobe photoshop, meshroom vs reality capture for mesh creation and finish with a cinematic rendered in Unreal Engine.
