We are in Taipei, Taiwan and we thought there is no better way to experience local food than asking the locals! So, we came up with the Food Chain Challenge - We start from a random stall and ask the stall owner what's the best thing in the night market and REPEAT until we are full!

YO ITS THE FOOD CHALLENGE GURL
NEW FOOD CHALLENGE UNLOCKED
@Sydeons it'd be cool to see cooking food challenges too 👀💚
"SCARRA!!"
You mean OUR food girl 😊
Toast and Syd are a very cute duo. Not in a ship way, just wholesome and really nice to watch. I think they compliment each others content to make the whole experience better.
yes, in a ship way :)
i was just thinking that! their friendship has really blossomed. the duo i never expected out of otv!
Toast is introverted and likes to make content. Syd is extroverted and energetic, but is not too adventurous alone and likes to be guided out of her shell in the company of friends.
I know, I like how he is helping and encouraging her Chinese. And I think she’s totally able to play along with his jokes/sarcasm
@@zeke3685no bro
Forever in awe of syd going out of her comfort zone & being so open to trying new things. Ik it can be a lot to vlog, esp when youre trying to have fun but I hope it's clear that everyone loves the food vlog content 🥺
Honestly vlogging has been therapeutic for me. I have horrid memory so taking videos of some of my favorite days is great :)
Its just so funny that to have brodin in his proper frame, yvonnie disappeared😭😂
toast’s *”mochi trauma”* i’m dying 😭😭🙏
Yvonne is 100% the foodie friend with all the best recommendations - would love to see her give Syd and Toast a food tour around her hometown in Hong Kong too ❤
Also, all the food-centric travel and lifestyle content from Syd and Toast have been fantastic lately, can't wait to see more because they've both found their calling
As a Chinese-Canadian who still hasn't tried it, so much respect to you Syd for braving the stinky tofu lol.
same i’m asian and i still haven’t tried it
HONESTLY it’s good
Definitely smells worse than it tastes
I actually enjoy tofu but am also still to brave the stinky tofu!
It was drizzling and I was just coming out of Librairie Avant-Garde (a bookshop in Nanjing that I used to frequent) when my stomach started growling. The only thing in sight was a street vendor selling fried smelly tofu. Needless to say, I didn’t wait a second, and boy, was it delicious!
I feel like Toast and Sydney really would just rather be food tubers at this point ahah >D nothing wrong with that. A great duo for it too. I watched a lot of most amazing food review show and mark weins and such during covid especially.
what i love about syd's vlogs is it's so cohesive!! like u get an intro about what the video is gonna be (with a game-show like animation even!), then the actual content, and lastly an outro!! bc some videos like this would just be instantly diving into the content and cuts abruptly at the end of the video. kudos to syd and her editors!!
Toast and that dude talking about how he would feel if he asked him what he liked to eat had me cryin 😭😭💀
Toast/ Syd undefeated combo ❤
I like how this channel is slowly morphing into a food challenge channel
Toast lore is like the background lore in open world games that you just find bits and pieces randomly but it's not the main plot. Lol.
7:18 that stall owner really said “put the fries in the bag”😂
More ToastNey content!
Sydeon and Toast are just better than the sum of there parts. Greate videos as of late. 👏
right! i agree 100%
They should start their own show and name it something clever! Great duo.
Yep
I have so much respect for food stall workers, especially when they’re kind, just honest hard working people making customers happy ❤
Having toast around Taiwan while doing this challenge is educational
Really love the editing style on this one! The captions are much easier to read and the little animations at the beginning are super cute
A wild Scawwa appears!
It vlogs casually.
SCARRA
I love you're actually trying to order in the native language! I want more of these.
I LOVE SYDNEY AND TOAST VIDEOS WW CONTENT WOOOOO
The sydney + toast duo is so wonderful, I could watch their vlogs all day.
Syd has my favorite content out of all of OTV rn lol keep it up :)
OMG i LOVE food content! More ToastNey Food content pleeease!!!!!
14:15 for people wondering what is mochi soup. Is Tang Yuan 汤圆。A chinese traditional dessert, not a soup. That we eat during Winter Solstice.
Between you and Yvonnie I REEEEEEAAAAALLLLYYYYY Want to go to Asia just to PIG OUT😅😅😂😂
Another great video. Syd and Toast are a great duo!
That boy's face lit up. Toast made him so happy lol
Please more of this duo
YESS OMG I LITERALLY RELOAD YOUR PAGE DAILY WAITING FOR A POST! 😭 your content is amazing
heck!!! yes!! food stalls go crazy, so excited to see you trying things out!!
Thank you for trying our Taiwanese food, Sydeon:) I miss home very much and this video cheers me up! Hope you enjoy your trip!
Toastyon food content Pogg
another food vlog!! been loving these contents!!
Aww, cool to see some Taiwanese fans pop up throughout!
also speaking of pop, that popcorn chicken looked BOMB AF
Loved the vid! Great reactions from both. Also the cameos from the rest of OTV
Syd video just when I need it
food video's scratch an itch in my brain
It is so cool that you ordered in Chinese and got to practice the language - I also loved hearing/seeing recommendations from locals and seeing you try new things! This was a really cool vlog, thanks for sharing 🙂
My favourite videos so far are all the food videos!!!!! Seeing Syd be so adventurous especially with the stinky tofu is awesome to see and so wholesome! I'm asian and I don't know if I'll ever try it lmao
hey syd! as a american born taiwanese, i wanna say you’re so sweet, down to earth, and respectful to our culture! thanks for putting a smile on my face today! good luck in everything you do ❤
This combo is my favorite
That one stall owner seems real salty for no reason. Whenever I have visitors at work from out of state or foreigners, we almost always get that question. Because of telling us what they like when we need to take them out for lunch or dinner, they'll just ask us for our recommendations. 🤷♀ I work at the same place every day, eat at similar places every day but I'm never annoyed by that question.
I was so confused why he seemed so offended that they asked for recommendations, even for non tourists thats a reasonable question.
@@dylanp7169 Most likely just different culture, and have some sort of thing where he just want to be left alone but is forced to work or something. Like an introvert.
Yeah I’m Taiwanese myself, and I’ve never met a vendor this rude that when I watch this clip I actually gasped, like why is he being such a hater to tourists😮
Some people are just rude by nature. There is a food stall near my place that makes really good food but the owner is so rude. Most of my friends love the food but we don't go there anymore because we have all had her be rude to us or being rude to other customers.
syd and toast my fav fooders
dude i love these vlogs
props to u ordering ur own stuff! i have anxiety but u inspire me to visit places like this
im an introvert so watching syd go out of her comfort zone to try new things in amazing
LOVE YOU FOR BEING BRAVE TO PRACTICE YOUR CHINESE THERE!! Must have been daunting as a fresh learner, but I hope it was a good experience! Good luck with continuing to learn
the food chain challenge looked so fun and tastyyyyyy also the toast mochi trauma story was great
Might have to go to Taiwan guys and yam out that food market
I really enjoyed watching this, I love seeing people try new food and what a great idea!
Ah hell yea, my favorite food channel
Yvonne would either give you the best food recommendation or your worst nightmare, no in betweens
Sydney’s videos have been everything lately 🔥
I assume toast was talking about tong yuan. depending on the size and how much filling was used, i can see how easy it can be to choke on them.
I can clarify that the dumpling at the end is not a 小籠包 (xiaolongbao) its just a 蒸餃(zhengjiao) steamed dumpling lol
Lemon boy. Petition to make Brodin name Lemon Boy
popcorn chicken 😢 I want some too! The one they sell where I live is dripping oil 😮💨 is popcorn oil.
Food markets look so fun :D thank you for sharing your experience with us Syd!
Freaking love these types of videos :3
This is why I love eating out in Asia. $20 is like 1 dish at the night markets in the US 😂
bro in canada too
Chellenge
Love this challenge and you get to practice chinese too, looks like you had so much fun! 💖💖
I love these sooooo much 🎀
20 dollars is crazy, that should've been the clickbait challenge
also snail was my favorite street food thing to eat as a kid (partially now but i've had fewer chances to eat it in the US)
i see syds videos, and i click
YAAAAY my favorite food yt chanel uploaded a new video
I LOVE THIS VLOGGG
im obsessed with sydney food content
Love this vlog :)) Definitely inspired me to try some new food!
lovin the food stuff
nice vid Syd
Syd - "the noodle people" hahaha
food chain challenge is brilliant for markets/food courts
syd your chinese is good!! hope you and otv keep connecting with taiwan and china etc!! you should def go to macau and hongkong too if you haven’t. they’re (a lot…) more expensive than mainland china but still fun!!!
Damn. Im impressed how much syd is learning languages. Be the globe trotter syd. Learn all the languages.
I love people learning more languages, some advice a good way to start a qeustion is to say "请问“(qingwen= please ask/question) which basically mean may I ask a question which then you can ask if male 老板 (laoban=boss) or woman 阿姨 (ayi= aunty),young man 大哥 (big bro),young woman 大姐 (big sis), 服务员 (fuwuyuan=waiter).... so qingwen ayi, qingwen laoban then your question. Honestly its not necessary but its a good way to get 你中文很好 (ni zhongwen hen hao = your chinese is very good, literal nihonggo jouzu'd lol) from locals
YAYYY FOOOD GIRLLL
If you turned into a food channel completely, I honestly wouldn't mind.
food vlog + toast teaching sydney how to speak in mandarin?! i'm so down! 🙌🏼
I had no idea Toast lived in Penang, that's where I'm from! Hope y'all go there one day!
I feel so bad for Toast’s mochi trauma lol but as a Filipino, asian parents do be lyk dat sometimes 😭😭😭
@14:04 Malaysia mentioned lets gooo
I love your vlogs and irl content in general! cant wait for future content
That "hehe" got me good😂
look it a scawwa 😂
Taiwan looks great ! ⭐
I love how you went to Taiwan instead of mainland China. Toast influence FTW.
sydney is glowing!!!
Syd the best food reviewer there is
love what ur doing syd keep up the fire vids! 👌
My favorite foodtuber is back 🎉
The Sydney and Toast food content continues 🎉
i love the food content!!!
FOOD WOMEN BACK 🗣
Syd! Do more travel and food vlogs 🎉
I don't know why I watch these videos when I'm hungry lol
good thing you've got that 144hz gsync monitor to check out your 1 fps pictures and max 60fps camera footage.
Thanks alien ware.
Also toasts story about his mom saying he's dramatic after straight up puking on the floor is wild lol
Youre the picky person dream! I feel not often do i see someone who claims to be "picky" so open to the culture and food. Even when you disliked something you didnt disrespect it.
Had some experiences when some people would make a disgusted face eating something so simple like kimchi and spit it out so exaggerated. You can dislike something that may acquire taste but to overdo reactions is just hurtful lol
THE FOOD *CHELLENGE* GIRL IS BACK
by any chance, was toast’s mochi trauma called “tang yuan”? 😭
Kudos to syd for trying the stink tofu! I think a lot of Taiwanese foods are acquired taste, so they can be intimidating when you don’t know what to expect
