It is interesting to see the older ČSD coaches still in operation, expecially the exterior design. Were they ever part of a DMU set?
Yes, the two trailer cars were originally intended for identical class M 240 railcars, but these trailers were also used with other types of railcars or in loco hauled trains.

I also want to use the new Pesa units. Online every where it says that they are in service and when I am there, I get always an Regionova unit. In the Pid look, they look newer. Next time I want to use Leo Express on a faster route. Last time, I didn't have any space for my foots. But I will happy on my next journey to Praha, in my opinion the most beautiful station in 🇨🇿
The “Amx” is more luxurious than a normal Bmx? The only difference I see is the fabric upholstery, and in my opinion that doesn't really make it any more comfortable (except perhaps in summer). In 2008 I once drove with such cars (from Zdice to České Budějovice on the diesel fast train), with unmodernized Btx even in 2005 (Děčín - Liberec). I should do that again while there are still trains like this in regular use. 😅
I used the term "more luxurious" from the official information from the carrier :-D Of course, the only difference is in the seat covers and, compared to the original "Bmx" coach, there are still spaces for bicycles. The original Amx (Aalm 5020) 1st class coach had nine 6-seat compartments.

Czech trains are amazing but I can't imagine that revenue covers operating costs on what seems like lightly patronized local trains. These trains must be heavily subsidized by local and state governments.
Apart from selected long-distance routes, most trains in the Czech Republic (and also in other European countries) run as a public service obligation. Thanks to this, a regular connection interval (usually 1 - 2 hours) is kept on most routes. Some tourist trains are also included in this interval. In particular, this train runs almost empty from the origin station (which is the nearest large turnaround station with depot and sidings), but at the next stop (Křivoklát) there are always a lot of passengers boarding the train, because there is an important castle popular with tourists. Also Nižbor station. And then, from Beroun station is already quite full (of course it depends on the weather).

Auch nur, solange sie neu bzw. renoviert sind. Der große Unterschied zu Deutschland ist aber, dass man in vielen Bahnhöfen noch beheizte Warteräume findet.

Rakovník- Beroun jezdím často a nikdy se neokouká. Řekl bych, že jedna z nejhezčích tratí v ČR!

Minulý rok mi to bohužel nevyšlo, ale letos se na tento vlak chystám, možná už v červnu, i se zastávkou na Křivoklát :)
