Nice video as always! Props to you for cleaning up the trails for the rest of us! Thanks man! The gear grinding sound eats away at my soul every time I here it. I hate the sound of a bike getting messed up. Good to fix er up though. I love the winter and summer comparison clips! Awesome! Keep rippin!
as a small engine mechanic i know that some people are pretty hard on their machines, whether it be intentional or not, especially with BRP theres something referred to as the "bomby bump" essential you change gears and rock your unit (mostly just ATV's) locking it into gear, so that the grinding and excess wear is avoided. Also obviously keeping up with maintenance standards, if not even performing maintenance work a bit early!
Sometimes when ATVs are not on even ground makes changing gears tough as well. The big underlying issue is Can Am gear boxes have known issues that they exclude from warranty repairs...
I've never seen an Ontarians do trail work, nice to see someone doing a video on it. People need to realize these trails arent magically trimmed. Also, you a very lucky to have a good dealer. The Can-Am dealer closest to me should be closed for being so bad and sketchy. One of the main reasons I ride Polaris, my dealer fights for the customers. I've had them get me warranty out if warranty.
Hi Don, Firstly, thank you for all your videos! I finally picked up my renegade 1000 XMR. I was hoping to get your opinion on something, the plastic fit up near the digital screen fits very poorly. I was hoping to get your opinion on how you would repair it or fix it. The salesmen simply told me to glue it, but the thing is brand fricken new. I haven’t even rode it once yet so I’m having a hard time accepting it lol. Nothing is broke is the thing, it’s just a poor fit. Best I can I think of is glueing it together, however these are designed to come apart and go back together? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, I wish I could attach a photo. Thank you!
That's BS! They should order you a new piece and replace it when in comes in. I'm assuming its the plastic insert the holds the display into the rhino horn? It should fit snug. Most of the plastics that don't fit well are usually the center piece over the airbox. They never line up well with the fenders. You can always send me a message on Facebook or Instagram, if you use those apps...
@@ADVENTURESThisWay I believe that’s exactly the piece I’m talking about! If I’m sitting on the bike, it pops up and out towards me from around the digital display. On the one side (right hand side) there’s like a 3/16” gap and doesn’t seem to matter how I fiddle with it, it won’t snap closed nicely. I shouldn’t have even loaded it up and stuck my feet in the sand. The salesman drove it out and I noticed it right away, but he downplayed it of course. I just hope me taking it home didn’t screw myself over. I’m praying they work with me on this, I will go back this afternoon and pray for the best. Big thanks for your quick response Don! Looking forward to the next video.
Quick update: the dealer was great and without question ordered new plastics for the front end. Hopefully the new pieces fit better 🤘🏻 This is going to be a long shift, I can’t wait to finally ride this bad boy! Weeuuuuwwwww!
The infamous Can-Am Grind. I have it too since new. Shift linkage adjustment apparently fixes this, but I've tried every possible adjustment and have come down to just rocking the bike back and forth after I shift into High gear, before I give it any throttle and it works 100% of the time. I look kind of stupid doing it, but at least she doesn't grind anymore. Can-Am engineering tolerance issue here. I too have never shifted gears while the bike is moving or RPM's were not at idle. That Can-Am response to this issue is total BS.
sounds like your situation is a carbon copy of mine. But the last ride before taking it in to dealer it wouldnt go into H at all. When back in the bush just drive her! This issue must be covered by warranty
Dang that's great to know! Thanks man! Also another thing to think about is the shift linkage. I know the shift linkage is bad about needing to be adjusted. That could've been part of the issue it the adjustment was off. Because you're absolutely right. They're known to have issues with high gear but I've heard adjusting that can fix it and hopefully prevent this transmission problem
Lesson here for sure. Sometimes it's a PITA to drag your machine back to the dealer. Especially these days with so many back-ordered parts. I get it. But you're 100% right. If you think it's warranty, just take it in. That sled looked like it needed someone in it for extra footage! 🤣🤣
You ccan ride in the sled next time! But yes 100% never hurts to have a tech inspect it with a issue, at least there will be record of inspection on file
Good looking out my guy, I'm looking at a 22 rene 1k xxc. The shipment date has been pushed a month and all I can think about is what dealership fees I'll pay and if they can help me later when things go wrong.
Kinda regret purchasing the “ BEST” warranty now… lol Any mechanical failure should be covered in my opinion. It’s a pricey warranty to get rejected on something like that.

Hey Robbie, sorry to hear you are having such a hard time with good service. Definitely follow up with Can Am, I know they take the Customer Experience seriously. BTW my RUclips Channel doesn't get me any special treatment at my local dealer...I'm just a nice guy!! Good luck, and happy riding on 'The Rock'

That’s the best advice I keep giving people find a good dealer that can and will support you and your machine.
Very true! Almost more important than the brand you buy, dealer support is HUGE!
Great video Don. Nice meeting you and your wife on the trail this weekend. Can Am forever!
Ya buddy, hope to see you out there again!
I have a 21 outlander 1009 xmr. An u want another 1. Im thinking about adding Polaris 1000
Polaris makes a good trail ONLY ATV...

Does this go as well as a 2013 outlander 1000
???
This is crown land correct? Do you guys run into many people hiking?
Yes mostly ride on Crown Land. No hikers, hunters yes

made adjustments several times over a few months,
@@ADVENTURESThisWay wow! Now that makes me nervous
That's why it's called the canam Hump!

Good thing to know for when my 2022 Renegade shows up.
Yes definitely! So you're fully coming to the dark side then?!

try not to over think it, but yes they are expensive but so much fun!
Love the videos man! Question for you. Is your rene, lifted? Or just have the springs cranked all the way?
Well Thank You so much!
No lift, just 31" tires. Springs are still set the way hey came from factory
grinding going into high gear is the best. grinds and they tell you its not covered and then your tranny goes. 10/10
Its not right, anything with transmission should be warranty, period
Thanks for that information very useful.
Glad it was helpful!
Great info, I will be buying a Renegade Xmr 1000. So how much $ did they cover for the repairs? Just curious
I was only charged the normal $50 deductible with the BEST Warranty.
There nice
Kinda regret purchasing the “ BEST” warranty now… lol
Any mechanical failure should be covered in my opinion. It’s a pricey warranty to get rejected on something like that.
its still absolutely worth it. i have had diff seals and a yoke replaced, cost $56...
Wasting money they can't even cover the regular warranty at some dealer or they don't know their head from their ass just my two cents
The sound at the beginning 😬
its NOT GOOD
fuuuuck this just started happening to me :(
thats not a good sound, is it?
@@ADVENTURESThisWay how much was it to fix
@@dbbadlands I don't know the cost....cheaper than replacing the whole transmission I would suspect
