In early 2020, Marc from Long Island Watch visited me in Philadelphia to share some of his favorite pieces from his massive collection, and to talk watches and collection goals. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Marc, he's a watch expert, engineering genius, and long time personal friend. Following that last video together, we began monthly remote recordings of a video podcast-style show. And now one year later, what better way to celebrate the video series going strong, than to catch up in person with an update to his collection!
In this video we discuss his 3 biggest acquisitions: a stunning vintage Seiko 6139-6000 5 Speedtimer automatic chronograph, a very rare limited-edition Seiko Prospex LT "Sky" Spring Drive GMT (SNR049), and last year's grail goal from 2020-an ultra-luxurious Rolex Daytona in solid white gold (reference 116509). Marc also shares an amazing new way he stores his 100+ piece collection, and why his next watch is destined to be the Rolex Day-Date reference 228206.

Seeing Marc's watch collection makes me feel better about my 45 year old collection! I no longer feel guilty and I have showed the video to my wife and said "See - it is not only me!"

For most normal, non-WIS, people, a single drawer would serve well enough. I’d fill the rest of the dresser with ties and pocket squares and scarves and gloves and various assorted menswear accessories.

That’s Seiko GMT is stunning
Yes it is, but for that price (5'500 $) I prefer by far the Tudor Black Bay GMT ( 4'000 $). In my opinion, it's a better watch and more beautiful as well, but as I said, it's just my opinion.
These videos are so refreshing. No drama-seeking stunts, just two guys having a great chat about their passion. Keep it up you both!

i don't know what is so fascinating about watching watch nerds nerd out about watches, but i watched every moment of this conversation.
People complain about Seiko's misalignment issues, and then that 35k-watch Daytona has the little 9 misaligned with the bigger 9 index and nobody says anything (only my OCD is bothered by that :)
Having said that, the casual talk about a vintage Seiko, a super modern one and such an icon of a Swiss luxury watch is priceless. That's the way this passion should always be talked about, hats off to Mark and to you Tristano, siete veramente due signori. Ben fatto amico mio!

I remember once I bought a Seagull 1963 from Long Island Watch and it came in defective. I immediately emailed customer service and I was surprised they sent me my replacement FIRST and then I had to send them the defective back FREE of charge. Never have I had a vendor send me my replacement first. The fact that Mark himself made sure I was taken care of first before getting the defective product back shows when he says you have to take care of your customer he really means it. Still have my Seagull and am glad that I purchased from Mark and not another vendor.

Great discussion gents. When you mentioned the pandemic starting, our last trip overseas was to Augsberg, Germany in December 2019. I decided to go to a watch store, as who wouldn't want to at least see a Laco Augsberg, while in Augsberg. Ironically it was the one they didn't have in stock!! Lol. We managed a holiday in Antalya in February before, as Marc said, the world ended! You definitely need to have more of these chats! ......Watch Cabinet??🤔

What I ove about this show is such: you keep your options open. There are inexpensive mechanical and automatic watch brands that can be considered and purchase. They can be elegant or simply tool watches. Even quartz watches can be considered : Casio, Glycine, Seiko, GARMIN, and so on. And for those that have excellent budgets can be educated about various higher price point time pieces. Now you guys got me hooked on NATO bands.

I'm an iranian and one of the reasons there are so many vintage seikos and citizens in iran, is that because of economical problems it's hard for most people to spend over 100 or 200 usd on a watch so we really take care of watches that we own and if someone wants to buy an automatic they usually consider vintage seiko 5's or vintage rado's. A friend of mine owns a seiko 5 and he said "it's like 50 years old its 10 minutes off everyday"
