  • In this video I am making HIBISCUS TEA with fresh flower petals. It feels both frugal and regal.
    I woke up one morning to this beautiful hibiscus in full bloom. I have no idea how it managed to bloom on our side of the fence - but it somehow found a way. It felt as if it was blooming just for me. Sending me hope and love.
    Everywhere I walked I saw hibiscus flowers. Where I never noticed them before. So, I decided what a great way to harness their beauty and goodness by making a fresh hibiscus petal tea. Also known as Jamaican tea.
    Did you know that the flower only blooms for one day? I learnt about this when I went to look for my hibiscus the next morning, only to find that it withered away.
    So, this morning we went and picked a few hibiscus flowers for our tea as well as some stems to hopefully grow our very own hibiscus trees. Because stealing flowers felt really very naughty!
    Hibiscus tea is seen as a herbal tea and it has so many benefits. The biggest one, I would say is the high levels of Vitamin C and minerals. So it is good for your immunity and especially now during this time of staying healthy. It is known to prevent hypertension and anxiety, reduce blood sugar levels, lower blood pressure, keep your liver healthy, helps with depression, aids digestion and helps with weight loss. I mean wow! A full power-house of goodness in this one! Yes please!
    However, I have to mention that drinking hibiscus tea in large quantities… means there can be some side-effects. You should avoid if you are pregnant, Breast feeding, have low blood pressure and are diabetic.
    You can find the recipe on my blog here. www.organicgyp...

    My Ma planted Hibiscus in her Garden. As soon as it blooms, is appreciated while it flowers, and it's time, it will be tea!

    I so love that you made this video. I'm just not sure if the flowers have the same benefits as the calyces from the Sabdariffa Hibiscus. I just finished a harvest of the calyx... You do have a sweet voice and I love that you're making tea.

    I made it from fresh flowers kept in refrigerator for a night n I did not get red colour. It is kind of deep purple colour. I didn't add lemon though.

    • @TheOrganicGypsy
      @TheOrganicGypsy  11 месяцев назад

      The lemon changes the colour to something so vibrant. It is beautiful to see the reaction that takes place when you add the lemon. So, definitely add a bit of lemon to get this beautiful colour. :-) Try again?
