      0:09 this made my whole day seeing a Fargo N.D officer as yesterday (July 14 2023) 4 officers (in Fargo) were shot and 3 were critically injured and one was end of watch. The one who was end of watch was fresh out of the academy graduated in April and was with his supervisor responding to a crash when a man pulled an automatic weapon from the trunk of his car and shot at them.

    It’s important to mention that NYPD is the only Police Department with an international presence (at least to my knowledge) they have over 14 intelligence posts outside the US in cities like London, Paris, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, etc. where they station detectives.
    Edit* I’ve notice people seem to misunderstand this post and mention temporary overseas training or sending over advisors, but what I mean is that the NYPD have officers stationed overseas full time. The NYPD Intelligence Division & Counter-Terrorism Bureau has officers stationed in 14 cities internationally

    LAPD S.W.A.T is probably the best out of the three when it comes to hostage, and extreme situations. But the NYPD's special response teams (the officers you see postioned on rooftops, and streets dressed in full tactical armor/clothes holding sniper rifles and assault rifles) is unmatched providing security across the city for major events.

    I think it was overlooked by NYPD ESU does a lot of things that traditionally Fire Departments in other cities do. NYPD ESU often does vehicular extractions (with the jaws of life), scuba rescue etc, a lot of non law enforcement work that will traditionally see the Fire Department do in other cities.

    • @lolhi3105
      @lolhi3105 Год назад +3

      And they are also very good at the things LAPD SWAT does. All those high rise rescues, water rescues and even the scenarios where people climb bridges, ESU does it all along with warrants. In NY there’s a saying “if people need help they call the police, if the police need help they call ESU”.

    I did my 20 with NYPD . The organization succeeds inspite of itself. There is so much poltics , nepotism, favoritism , race bias on all sides , its remarkable. The training as a whole sucks , Firearms and tactics are terrible, . You have to go outside the job to get the training you need , just look at some of the arrest videos , cops dancing around with a perp trying to collar them , if it wasnt so dangerous it would be funny. That being said I worked some great people who are also great cops. Im glad i retired and done with the clown show but i do miss the clowns.

    In the uk there was a big fight going on between a large group of robbers at a shop and bystanders trying to stop them and one of the criminals smashed a bottle over somebodies head and knocked them out leaving them bleeding on the floor and no police showed up when called and somebody found a police car around the corner and they refused to go in saying it wasn’t their job because they were the wrong rank

    honestly I just needed a little reference, in my case as i live in Austria I looked up the Policeforce in Austria/Vienna and holy cow Vienna has only around 7,5k Police Forces and Austria as a whole has around 31k. But Austria also has only a little more People living there than in NY so the relation between citizens and forces kinda matches.
    What I don't understand why the relation between Vienna and LA doesn't match as Vienna has only 2 Million Citizen but almost as big of an Police Force as LA with double the Citizen and as far as i know much higher crime rate.

    NYPD here, maybe I can bring some clarity. To the guys/girls on the job and more specifically the officers who are in these units all know that the most important thing is repetition. Just looking at raw data and numbers isn't going to explain to you what's happening when you're looking at body-cam footage.
    No other specialized tactics team is hitting doors, serving warrants and doing raids at the rate that NYPD's ESU teams are, there's a difference between training for a hostage rescue and then actually doing it. Only through experience will your body actually be able to deal with real resistance. But note not all ESU teams are created equal, last I checked the department has its own "A team" to just do SWAT work.
    On a patrol level? LAPD takes the cake, for w.e reason their department cares about their regular patrol cops just a little bit more than the average Large city police dept lol. With regular pistol AND shotgun training, as well as officers being able to use non-lethal rounds, their tactics are always on average pretty efficient. NYPD's training is abysmal, after the academy you're left to your own devices. The department seems to cater to house mouses (Admin staff who dont need the training) and specialized units who aren't regularly doing patrol work.

    How often do these same police agencies do cross over work with their military counterparts, especially when it comes to counterterrorism or armed offender call outs that requires SWAT or a equivalent team? As I know that the New Zealand Police Special Tactics Group trains with the Counter Terrorism section of the NZSAS.
