Great video. One tip is to use a spread plate on the inside of the door, since it is a single wall attachment. Washer and bolts can be moved with pry bar. Spread plate makes it extremely difficult.

Another tip: put duct tape on the back of the plate before you permanently mount it. This helps with less rusting behind the plate.

Watched a guy here in New York install these just like you did. In less than 10 minutes he got robbed. Lost everything he had. He installed the same lock setup on his other van with a backing plate and installed higher. Dented the hell out of the steel, but they couldn't get in because he installed it higher.

I like those but I hate the fact that you have to drill into the body. It ends up leaving a rust stains all down the side of the van. I just installed the puck style locks that use the existing door hardware. I don’t think they’re as secure as what you have but I like the fact that you don’t have to put any holes in the vehicle and you can remove it and put it back to factory

good video thanks, but in my opinion three things are missing
1- a rubber, urethane or water resistant gasket between the door and the lock to avoid water and moisture.
2- Paint the holes with anti-mold paint (steel fence paint)
3- a metal plate (making a counter plate) inside the door using the broken bite. bigger better for greater resistance. if the lever the lock tears easily and also has a rubber gasket inside the door
    *-cut the excess screw. Optional

Most insurance will not consider master lock as a secondary security item (like other locks or alarm). Master lock has had a design flaw for about 20 years that allows you to open their locks with a nail, paperclip, zip tie, toochpick, etc in less than 10 seconds. No nedd to pick them when they have a bypass built in. They also moved to cast zinc that can be defeated with a simple plumbers torch. Master lock has tried to sue many people for showing this but never won. Insurance got wise to why so many were being defeated and under writing started excluding them.

HVAC/R Junky yes very happy with the new van. I got it because it was getting hard to do installs out of the back of a pickup. that is the main reason. the other reason is because I had had stuff fly out of the back of the truck three times. big stuff! once was a dolly! once was a roll of bubble wrap. which seriously puts a wrench in your heart when you see it flying out of the truck. no more! the other reason is the rain soaking everything in the back.

Why isn't there a template you can download and simply print to check the layout of the holes? All van doors widen in a slope away from the lip of the door. This clearly appears visually to be right where the bolts need to go. I don't want to blindly buy this without knowing how I can make the bolts fit...
Even a well taken direct on photo could let someone scale it to the right length to get some idea, but it seems like an obvious thing to have a .PDF to download and print a template...
