Wherever they are, Jim Henson and Caroll Spinney must be filled with joy over their legacy. As a first-generation Sesame Street watcher, it brings tears to my eyes to think that they aren't here, but I am so grateful for their contributions to this world. I will always be thankful for the lessons that they taught me, as well as my children. ❤ #SesameStreet50

@@lionelcollins3511 If Kermit the Frog was in The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland...
News Flash Announcer: And now, a Sesame Street News Flash. We heard that Oscar sneezed in Elmo’s blanket and threw it in his trash can. We take you to Kermit the Frog, live on the scene.
      (Kermit arrives on the scene.)
Kermit: (to the audience) Hi-ho, Kermit the Frog here, and I am speaking to you from the world-famous street in the world, Sesame Street. Now as you may know, Oscar sneezed in Elmo’s blanket and dropped it in his can. As a matter of fact, we will interview the Sesame Street residents. (to Elmo) Excuse me, Elmo. This is Kermit the Frog of Sesame Street News, can I ask you a question?
      Elmo: Of course, Kermit.
Kermit: Why did Zoe rip your blanket?
Elmo: She wanted to hold it, but Elmo wouldn’t let her.
Kermit: I see, and did you say that you and Zoe weren’t friends anymore?
      Elmo: Yes, that’s right.
Kermit: Hmm… this is more serious.
      (Kermit turns to Telly.)
Kermit: Telly, if you were roller skating this morning, why didn’t you look where you’re going?
Telly: I tried to look where I was going. I was just pretty shaky and still learning, that’s all.
Kermit: This is worse than I thought.
      (Kermit turns to Super Grover.)
Kermit: Super Grover, if you flew up into the sky and saw Elmo’s blanket, why did you crash into Elmo and Telly?
Super Grover: I never meant to do that. When I saw Oscar throw Elmo’s blanket into his can, I was only trying to get it back.
      Kermit: I can see that.
      (Kermit turns to Big Bird.)
Kermit: Big Bird, if Oscar sneezed into Elmo’s blanket and threw it in his can, why didn’t you say something?
Big Bird: I saw him do that, but I didn’t know what to say.
Kermit: That’s actually a good point.
      (Kermit turns to Zoe.)
Kermit: Zoe, why did Elmo hurt your feelings?
Zoe: I didn’t mean it. What I did was an accident. I just wanted to hold the blanket, but he wouldn’t let me.
      Kermit: Interesting.
      (Kermit turns to Gordon.)
Kermit: Gordon, where were you when Oscar threw Elmo’s blanket in his trash can?
Gordon: I was in the laundromat with Luis.
      Kermit: I see.
      (Kermit turns to Susan.)
Kermit: Susan, Elmo’s blanket fell out of the sky, and Oscar sneezed in it, and he dropped it in his can. Do you know anything about it?
Susan: I heard what had happened, but I wasn’t there when it just began.
      Kermit: Interesting.
      (Kermit turns to Luis.)
Kermit: Luis, if you were in the laundromat with Gordon, why didn’t you see Oscar throw Elmo’s blanket into his trash can?
Luis: Gordon and I were never told about this when that happened. Right, Gordon?
      Gordon: Yeah, that’s right, Luis.
Kermit: That’s a good point, actually.
      (Kermit turns to Maria.)
Kermit: Maria, Elmo’s blanket fell out of the sky, and Oscar sneezed in it, and he dropped it in his can. Do you know anything about it?
Maria: I wasn’t with Luis when that happened. I was spending time with Gabi.
Kermit: You were spending time with Gabi?
Maria: Yes, we were having some mother-daughter bonding time.
      Gabi: Yes, Kermit.
      Kermit: Very interesting.
      (Kermit turns to Gina.)
Kermit: Gina, Elmo’s blanket fell out of the sky, and Oscar sneezed in it, and he dropped it in his can. Do you know anything about it?
Gina: Not at all. Everyone just told me about it.
      Kermit: I see.
      (Kermit turns to Bob.)
Kermit: Hey, Bob, why did Oscar throw Elmo’s blanket in his trash can?
Bob: Well, Kermit, my guess is that he thought it was another stinky old rag and thought it was trash.
      Kermit: Uh-huh. That’s actually a good point.
      (Kermit turns to Alan.)
Kermit: Alan, if Zoe ripped Elmo’s blanket, Telly roller skated out of control, Super Grover flew into the sky, Oscar sneezed into Elmo’s blanket and threw it in his can, and Elmo, Super Grover and Telly crashed into each other, why didn’t you hear the noise?
Alan: I was working in Hooper’s, and was so busy that I didn’t notice all of that happening outside.
      Kermit: Interesting.
      (Kermit turns to Baby Bear.)
Kermit: Baby Bear, did you see anything happening out of the ordinary?
Baby Bear: Nothing really. I was in the laundromat with Gordon, Luis, Rosita, Prairie, Big Bird and the Count when that fiasco unfolded.
Kermit: I can see that. Do you know anything about Elmo’s blanket when it got thrown in Oscar’s trash can?
Baby Bear: No, not at all. I never knew about it.
Kermit: This is more serious than I thought.
(Kermit turns to Rosita and Prairie Dawn.)
Kermit: Rosita, if you and Prairie were working at the laundromat, did you happen to see anything unusual?
Rosita: Oh, Kermit, I saw Elmo’s blanket, but from where I was, I thought it was an old rag of some kind.
Prairie: That’s what I thought, too.
Kermit: Uh-huh. Tell me, Rosita, did you see Telly roller skate this morning?
Rosita: Si, I saw that happen.
      Kermit: What about you, Prairie?
Prairie: I saw the whole thing, too. As much as I wanted to stop Telly, I didn’t want him to crash into me.
      Kermit: Now we’re getting somewhere.
      (Kermit turns to the Count.)
Kermit: Hey, Count, if you were in the laundromat, did you happen to see Elmo’s blanket flying around?
Count: I saw that happen too, but thought what Rosita and Prairie thought - an old rag flying across Sesame Street. I honestly didn’t know that was Elmo’s blanket.
      Kermit: Interesting.
      (Kermit turns to Mr. Johnson.)
Kermit: Mr. Johnson, while you were waiting for your order, did you notice Elmo chasing after his blanket?
Mr. Johnson: Yes, I saw it, but I was waiting for my breakfast… which I never got thanks to a certain waiter.
Kermit: Well, you don’t have to wait anymore. I got you your favorite breakfast.
(Kermit brings Mr. Johnson chocolate chip pancakes and apple juice.)
Mr. Johnson: Oh! Why, thanks, Kermit!
      Kermit: You’re welcome, sir. Enjoy.
      (Kermit turns to Snuffy.)
Kermit: Snuffy, Elmo’s blanket fell out of the sky, and Oscar sneezed in it, and he dropped it in his can. Do you know anything about it?
Snuffy: Uh, not that I know of, Kermit. I just got here to Sesame Street after playing with my little sister Alice at my cave and was gonna go play with Bird here. Right, Bird?
Big Bird: Yes, that’s right, Snuffy, we were gonna have a playdate together.
Kermit: This is tougher than I thought.
(Kermit turns to Humphrey, Ingrid and Baby Natasha.)
Kermit: Humphrey, Ingrid, Natasha, did you see Elmo’s blanket flying around?
Humphrey: Indeed we did, Kermit. We all went after it to help Elmo, but as soon as Oscar threw it in his can, we gave up.
Ingrid: Yes, dear, we did try.
      (Kermit turns to Herry Monster.)
Kermit: Herry, did you happen to notice Elmo chasing after Telly and his blanket?
Herry: No, Kermit, I never saw that happen because I was having breakfast with my family.
(Kermit turns to Gladys the Cow.)
Kermit: Gladys, Elmo’s blanket fell out of the sky, and Oscar sneezed in it, and he dropped it in his can. Do you know anything about it?
Gladys: No, I do not. I had just arrived on Sesame Street after that happened.
(Kermit turns to Mama Bear and Papa Bear.)
Kermit: Mama Bear and Papa Bear, do you know anything about Elmo’s blanket when it fell out of the sky, Oscar sneezed in it, and dropped it in his can?
Papa Bear: No, Kermit, I was reading the newspaper…
Mama Bear: …And I was cleaning up the house until Baby Bear rushed in and told us the whole thing.
Baby Bear: Yeah, I saw it happen.
      (Kermit turns to Miss Piggy.)
Kermit: Uh, Piggy? Did you happen to see Elmo chasing after Telly and his blanket?
Miss Piggy: Oh, Kermie, I did see what happened.
      Kermit: Really?
Miss Piggy: Yes. As much as I wanted to save Elmo's blanket, I didn’t want to go into Oscar’s trash can because of how filthy it is, and I did not want my beauty to go to waste.
Kermit (to the audience): Well, folks, the residents of Sesame Street know about Elmo's blanket and some do not. This is Kermit the Frog returning you to your regularly scheduled movie already in progress.

As a child of the 80s, I grew up watching Sesame Street daily, and even now, I occasionally find myself knowing something from having learned it by watching. Several of the songs and skits are still deeply entrenched in my memory. There's a generation of kids who are too stuck in their tablets and tech toys......and are missing out on this absolute gem. RIP Jim Henson and Carroll Spinney. Without them, this beautiful world would not be. 💜💙💜💙

I grew up watching Sesame street as a little girl. Years later, I made sure my son did too. I had Sesame street CD'S for him to listen to, even ones from my childhood like the "In Harmony" album.
This show teaches so much, reading, counting, letters and more. But best if all it teaches empathy, kindness, compassion and just what it is to be a good person and treat everyone how you want to be treated. Now, if only we could get all the work leaders to watch it together and learn those valuable lessons. That we are better when we choose love. When we toss away bigotry and hate. When we come together in acceptance. Literally, if the world would follow one rule, be kind to each other. Just be kind, the world would be such a good place.
Thank you Sesame Street, for everything.
