Even as an adult, even knowing they're puppets, did anyone else get starstruck when the characters appeared? I did. I grinned like a five-year-old when Grover showed up. He was always my favorite. :)
I grinned like an idiot when cookie monster showed up, but as I got older and watched Sesame Street again with my younger brother, Oscar became one of my favorites because he's always such a dick it makes me laugh.

I remember Sesame Street teaching me letters and numbers. Electric company with Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno teaching numbers and vocabulary. Mr. Rogers showed me how to tie my shoes and that I was a unique person loved by both parents even though they weren't married anymore. Romper Room is also glued in my memory. I remember watching a lot of public television when younger. Of course before cable was mainstream. We also played outside a lot before then too.
I still have my Romper Room ring in my jewelry box. Electric Company was cool. I just watched the second Mr. Rogers film on PBS & laughed & cried through the whole thing. He was so special!
4:07 mine favorite part when he yelled "Is Big Bird!" I love Big Bird he's my favorite Sesame Street Muppet ever since I was a kid still is. I wanna hug him.
When i was little, I always imagined that he actually had a huge place...like the trash can was the door, but like, underground, he had a living room, kitchen, and room for entertaining. I was an odd kiddo.
Dwarven King He was voiced by Kevin Clash (African-American) but Kevin left several years ago because of homosexual allegations against him. He's now voiced by a white man since 2013.
watching this in 2016 when everything is going to shit and all I see is violence. this makes things better for a few minutes. sesame Street will always be a safe place!
Since then Caroll Spinney has had many health issues which has further weakened him. He can no longer physically puppeteer his characters. Most of both the physical and vocal work for BB and Oscar are now done by Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson.
Victoria Micalizzi Same, except i made them go on a roller coaster ride of death and when i chew they scream (same for gummy bears XD Especially the red ones-they are the blood :3 )
As an adult, I might have been too happy watching this video lol ... I was almost tearing up with joy... I haven't actually watched Sesame Street in years...
😭 This takes me back. Even tho Oscar was a grouch, I can get why Sesame Street kept him. It's because not everyone is nice. They should keep it real and still send a good message.
4:35 If you are wondering why Oscar isn’t shown here is because he was voiced by Caroll Spinney who also plays Big Bird so he had to change into Big Bird
Age: 21 Reaction to Cookie Monster: *high pitched screaming and flailing of arms; resembles excited three-year-old* Reaction to Big Bird: *crying and laughing* Reaction to Oscar: *inhuman noises* Reaction to Grover: *spluttering and squeaking* I can't even with Sesame Street.

you cant help but smile when Sesame Street characters appear
+VenetianTemper IKR
very true
I love how Big Bird got the loudest applause. The big guy is just _inherently_ lovable X3
Who doesn't love them.
They're always sweet (except Oscar) and bring back memories of your childhood.
This warms my bitter adult heart.
+Liana Freeman LOL no way you are an adult, go do your homework kid!

I did. I grinned like a five-year-old when Grover showed up. He was always my favorite. :)
TheaterRaven i do not think of them as puppets i think of them as the very characters they are
I did. I love sesame street. I don't care how old I get
Super Grover!
that's so true :) haha
I grinned like an idiot when cookie monster showed up, but as I got older and watched Sesame Street again with my younger brother, Oscar became one of my favorites because he's always such a dick it makes me laugh.
Before elmo appears
Me : Cold. Emotionless.
After Elmo appears
Elmo: HELLOOOO
Me : *giggles like a 4 year old*
I almost started crying
Needed that in October 202020
Lol i love that
Sad when Oscar The Grouch is the most relateable thing on television nowadays.
And Squidward
It's the candor what's appreciated.
We were Elmo as kids and grew up to be Oscar
Totally!👩🏼👦🏼👵🏼👴🏼
+ChrisGee1371 I was Oscar, even as a kid :S
It's funny, but sadly true.
ChrisGee1371 I was always Oscar -- even as a kid. Just ask my mom.
I'm still Elmo.
When I was a kid, I used to think That 70's Show was made during the 70's.
Elena R wait it's not? 😂
Wait... what is it then?
I don't get it...
Lol it came out in 98 & ended in 06 for those confused lol
Elena R me too
My favorite has always been Oscar. He was allowed to say all of the things I couldn't lol
Me, too. Oscar was the best!
R.I.P. Caroll spinney the man behind big bird and Oscar
I relate to Oscar the Grouch on a spiritual level.
guinealiv1212 Yes indeed
+arcticphoenix12 When I was a kid, I use to hate Oscar for being so grouchy. Now I relate to him because I too have become that grouch.
arcticphoenix12
Don't we all
Facts
Oscar should host the oscars
is there a petition i can sign for this?
Yes! And the trophies should look like him.
Is that a pun?cuz i didn't get it
Shell B I totally get it this made my day
THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING.
WTF were Bert and Ernie too busy shopping for antiques in San Francisco to stop by?
Actually, they were having a lovely romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant, celebrating their anniversary.

Cosmo Vedder XD. Laughing so hard right now...
Why does this make me smile like an idiot.
Nobody Same here
Nostalgic childhood memories
Cause its sesame street puppets, I'll never get tired of puppets
Same here 😁
The characters on sesame street are freaking squad goals!
here's mine: when i was a kid whenever i did something with one of my arms, i had to do the exact same thing with the other so that arm wouldn't feel left out.
so did I!!!!
I still do this for equality, in fact when I was a toddler I would always do one thing with something and do it with another thing.
Ex: You need to do one of these projects, ends up doing both
Same lol
I STILL DO THAT
SAME! I still do that and im 14😂
Even as an adult now, I think if I could just hug big bird. All my worries would go and a sense of calm would come over me. I miss childhood
I'd pay to hug Cookie Monster!
I'm 19 years old and I was smiling ear to ear. Sesame Street never gets old!!!
That's a legit question! How the heck do you get to Sesame Street?! What state is it located?! And while I'm at it: WHERE THE HECK IS SPRINGFIELD?!
It is in Manhattan according to Maria who was part of the show for about 40 years.
And Springfield?
The video explained it all
springfield is in oregon
Great!

@@elenaarman-tang7811 I found it in the sand in a park by the swing set.
I remember Reading Rainbow with Levar Burton and 3-2-1- Contact!
Wait, he knows how to get to Sesame Street?! How did he learn this? Was it insider information? I seriously need to get famous now.
Illuminati 🔺♻
GreatWonderMoose i pretty much live with them in one house..... o no its the Muppets i live with XD
When I was a kid there was no Abby Cadabby.
Yeah! It's a little sad that she was never apart of my childhood!
+Amanda Smith That's Elmo's boo
Diversity? There will be a trans puppet soon
When I was a kid, there was no Elmo.
abby Cadabby needs to blend out her highlight
Big Bird is so magical! I love the little bouncing feathers on the top of his head! 💛
"are you happy to be here?"
"No."
Most relatable sesame Street character
So.. grumpy = relatable?
4:07 mine favorite part when he yelled "Is Big Bird!" I love Big Bird he's my favorite Sesame Street Muppet ever since I was a kid still is. I wanna hug him.
Wanna know why Oscar the Grouch is always so miserable? ... BECAUSE HE LIVES IN A FRICKIN' TRASH CAN.
When i was little, I always imagined that he actually had a huge place...like the trash can was the door, but like, underground, he had a living room, kitchen, and room for entertaining. I was an odd kiddo.
+Jenna Leigh, I thought the same thing. :)
youve seen dave chappelles stand up too huh?
lol
You can say his attitude is TRASHY (queue drums and cymbal)
Elmo is so cute!
As always
He's voiced by a big black man
Not to be racist
Dwarven King He was voiced by Kevin Clash (African-American) but Kevin left several years ago because of homosexual allegations against him. He's now voiced by a white man since 2013.
+Nellie K. Adaba ok didn't know that. You learn something new everyday
A street near my house is actually called Sesame Street. When I was like I went up to one of the houses and asked where Big Bird was.
*little
MsMusicfanatic2012 That's cute.
OMG!
something i would do
Where did you grow up, exactly? I oughta visit that place for myself lol
That moment when you realize that Oscar looks like a marijuana bud...

Tabitha Chastain LMFAO!!!!!!!

Tabitha Chastain YES!!!
He was based on a taxi driver
#WhenIWasAKid i used to sleep with all of my teddy bears and stuffed animals so none of them would feel left out :))

I used to do the same until my mum put most of them into the attic ;-;
Emily Mamoo omg i was so worried about that XD
Feels incomplete without Bert, Earnie, and Count Chocula
No one remembers Zoey??!?!?!?
Prince Twenty Also you forgot Telly and Guy Smiley.
Count Chocula is a breakfast cereal mascot, not a member of the Sesame Street gang.
@@chasechute1491 🤣🤣 ikr , I was like hun🤔🤣
Elmo sounds different, but still good.
Kevin Clash used to voice Elmo but due to personal reasons he resigned and Ryan Dillon is now the new voice for Elmo.
Joe Rivera I didn't know that, that's quite sad to hear :(
Joe Rivera Personal reasons? I thought he was accused of child molestation or something.
Yeah, the original elmo was accused of doing something with a kid, so he resigned over the drama so it wouldn't hurt the show.
Zohaib Aftab apparently he was but in the end all the charges were dropped and thrown out of court. as far as i know he was never labeled as anything.
Big Bird is so freakin tall XD
Nisa Qatrunnada He is over 9 feet tall.

Jerry Nelson who was the voice of the Count, Sherlock Hemlock, Herry Monster, the Amazing Mumford, Little Jerry, and Simon Soundman.
WHAT!? Not the count! How come i didn't know about this? This is terrible! My favourite character! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it weird that, at age 20, I still love Sesame Street???!
Not really, I still enjoy the classic 70s, 80s, and early 90s moments
No, my husband and I are 38 and still love it.
I thought Grover was going to say "HELLO EVERYBO-DEEEE!!"
That’s Annoying!
😠
This was Carroll Spinney's last time playing Big Bird on the tonight show.
😭
Its weird hearing Elmo using "I" in a sentence.
More Than I Expected.
I Thought It Went Good!
Just Like Tweety Bird.

Big bird sounds so old. Its kind of sad.

That would have made a good quote for this hashtag, that would be funny to see their reactions
Where's Mr Snuffleupagus?????? I miss him!!

The way the show is written now characters like Snuffy, Ernie, Bert, Baby Bear, Telly, and most of the human cast are not really needed.
You can see the excitement on Jimmy too. He is so happy!

Kermit's not in the video? But that's none of my business...
The Sesame Street characters and the Muppets haven't been associated with each other since Disney bought the rights to the Muppets in 2004
I see what you did there lol Gary Hermelijn
Actually, I thought he was referring to Kermit's therapist session on the ThisIsACommentary RUclips channel.

Abby Kadabby and Murray single-handedly killed Sesame Street
that would make it two-handedly.
I actually like Murray! He seems like the kind of character they easily could've started out with.
But yeah, no, that Abby chick has got to go.
Really? How about the character with A.I.D.S or the one who's parents are in jail? The latter was probably a NFL running back. Ba-Dum-Bump..

Fern M In the case of Cookie Monster, the voice simply wanted to move on to a career directing feature films.
