I can't believe Lufthansa is still fitting entertainment boxes under the seats. A dirty tray table and a defective seat on a national flag carrier flying out of a home airport is unacceptable. I hope they have conducted the repetitive inspections of stringer sidewalls and certain stringer assemblies, common to the end fittings, forward and aft of the pressure bulkhead at STA 2360 for any crack, and applicable on-condition actions, as required by the FAA. Main meal seems to have improved but the pre-landing snack was disgusting. Overall though, I am a bit jealous because I only got to fly on the B747-100s and -200s and the -800s are the version that the 747 should always have been. Compliments on another fine report and on saying it how it was.
Thank you for the comment Norman. I got to fly the 200s, SP (the shortened version of the 747) and the 400s in the past. I used more miles that I should for this reward ticket in order to fly the 747-8 for this first time. Surely there are some things that need to be improved. I am glad that you have enjoyed the report! A trip report on a 350-900 is coming soon. Stay tuned!
The IES from Lufthansa were installed by the manufacturer in Seattle. That was the technical standard 15 years ago. Secondly Lufthansa doesn't have to follow any FAA orders. It's a German carrier and so the Luftfahrt Bundesamt is their adviser. 👋
Lufthansa has been known for their rather terrible service for quite a while. Budget airline with flag carrier prices. And the sad part is that the Lufthansa group is buying more and more European airlines. Austrian, Swiss...It's all actually Lufthansa now.
Hi! Bulkhead seats will often feature the IFE screens stowed within the armrest, which must be latched for takeoff and landing. You will have to pull it from the armrest, but they do have it.
Thank Duane! It's great to hear that you liked! The checked luggage was included in my ticket price but the Economy Light fare does not include a checked baggage. The luggage was weighted but I was way below the max. permitted. In regard to the seat, I would say that it was comfortable but as I show on the video my seat was ripped. The customer service at the luggage drop off area and at check in kiosks were very good. Attentive and professional. Cabin Crew were professional and attentive as well. Overall, I had a good experience. Stay tunned for my next trip report video!
You are one of very few reviewers that show the power outlet. The info of how many outlets per 3 seats or per 4 seats would be nice, but I imagine it's one less each, because it's between seats. I really don't know why reviewers don't put much focus on power outlets, it's one of the major things you cannot really provide on your own. And since I have a Steam deck, I like to know what my charging options are.
I've flown into Newark on many occasions...Left side of the plane for the best views of Manhattan. Ironically Newark is nearer to Manhattan than JFK and easier to get to using NJ Transit into Penn Station.
Exactly! Left side of the plane has a great view of Manhattan if the plane uses runway 22L. It's easy to get from Newark to Manhattan by train using NJ transit thru Secaucus Junction Station
24:12, Is that your 1st time that after landing, the passengers clap? And is that your 1st time flying Lufthansa, Boeing 747-8 passenger plane, if so, how is it?
This was my first time flying LH 747-8. I don't recall that the passengers clap. In some countries like Argentina is very common that the passengers clap after landing. It was an enjoyable experience except that the passenger next to me wore his jacket all the time making the flight little uncomfortable to me.
Nice trip report between these two flights UA961 or LH402 which one is better overall? From what I can see on the return trip UA960 vs LH403 if a Mileage Plus member once first class they would take LH403.
Thank you very much! Good question... UA961 is usually ON TIME when the LH402 is generally ON TIME. If it helps and in terms of service I never took the UA961 but I took the UA235 from BER-IAD and I was happy with their service. Now going back to the UA961...I like very much the 787-10 (quiet plane and big windows). It looks that the first class in Lufty is very interesting. UA960 and LH403 both flights are usually ON TIME. UA uses the Terminal C in EWR which is way much nicer than the Terminal B which LH uses. This is what I think. I hope it helps 👍
@@torbos11 I didn't fly yet in United's 787-10 but what it makes a difference for me in choosing the 787-10 in lieu of the 747-8 are the big dimmed windows, his better air quality inside the cabin (which it's helps for comfortability) and the IFE with a better resolution. I believe that the seat pitch in both Economy classes is the same and the seat width is very close. I hope this helps!
Correct that's the flight LH418 which operates from Frankfurt Airport. Usually is operated by a 747-8 but somehow since December 30th they use the 747-400
Hi! Thank you for the comment. Early last year, Lufthansa presented its new cabins, which would come with its newly planes. The company announced that the aircrafts already in service, such as the Boeing 747-8, will also be retrofitted. I don’t that it will be the case for the 747-400, Airbus A340s and A380s but by mid 2023 Lufthansa revealed a delay to the launch of the airline's new cabin due to a delay of its 1st new Boeing 787…We’ll see…
Please remember to like guys as this will help the channel grow 🙏
Thank you very much Norman for your great support! I really appreciate it as always!
nice 2 queens of the sky just passing by down the road
Absolutely! The Boeing 747 is a true marvel of engineering. It's always a pleasure to see these beautiful aircraft in action!
Very nice trip report! Thank you.

Great video. Did you have to pay for the checked baggage. Were they strict with the weight. How was the seat comfort and customer service

Nice. I see. Oh.
I was so cramped in economy seating on the Lufthansa 747-8i.
Yep. Space is on the tight side to accommodate such density

@@BoardingTimeHDI’m deciding on either the LH 747-8 or the UN 787-10. Which is more comfortable and smoother in the sky?
