Cute whistle, i have one of those , they are great for the beach , no worries about loosing it or getting sand in it 😉. Sometimes i like the chifffy rustic sound ! I notice a lot of the greatest whistle players , play the cheapest 10 dollar whistles and they make them sound great. I still prefer my Michael Burke though .. smooth like creamy butter. I really like this tune. I’m giving it a go to learn it this week, I think i will play it right after “JACK ROWE” nice set i think. Thanks again for the tutorial. ☘️
A beach whistle is an essential bit of kit :) wish I had need of one myself but I'm tragically landlocked at the moment, so I'm substituting with a car whistle instead
As far as I can tell the Pro versions are a bit heavier - which probably doesn't make a huge difference in tone but might in reliability, in that it's less likely to be damaged or crushed.
Hello Sean, Please Compare Feadóg Pro D Black Whistle to Green Feadóg Original Irish Whistle to help me decide which to be my "car whistle". Thanks very much.
I was recently looking at sheet music for "Scarborough Fair". It was in G with one accidental C#, the only C. Wouldn't having the key signature D have done the same thing?
Hi! I got a Feadog tin whistle in C but it sounds like a flute :< idk if I'm playing it bad or just need to blow harder. Let me know! I'm new at this 😭
Hmm, that's gonna be tough to diagnose without hearing it - it could be a few things, from a poorly made mouthpiece causing breathy tone to an air pressure issue on your end. Hard to say for sure I'm afraid.
@@whistletutor honestly...idk how to see if the mouthpiece it is ok. Also...how can you know if you are blowing well or not? Isn't too different from the normal flute? Bc for that flute is noy a big cience to blow (for what I see)
Well, I like the Clarke Sweetones, though I haven't played one in years. The OG Clarkes always sounded too breathy for me, but I also know folks who love them. It's a matter of preference I suppose!
whistletutor I have a Clarke Celtic one. Sounds the same as the sweet tone. Want to get different one. Even though I love the Clarke would like something else
I just spent a lot of money on a Killarney whistle and it does not sound as good as my Clarke Celtic whistle. The Clarkes are softer sounding but to my ears they have a much nicer tone.
@@Michajeru They are quite soft sounding. Clarke the meg has a little more bite than the sweetones but nothing like say a feadog or generation. The clarkes are quite mellow ...
That's a good idea but I'm not sure how that would work in a video because tunes can be pretty regional - there are some good standard session tunes that I might be able to put into a list of some sort though, I'll see what I can come up with.
I'm obviously not whistle tutor, but I love Goldie whistles, especially the Low ones, of which I have a Low D, Eb and F and the high ones are great but Roy McManus' whistles are what I use for my higher keys and they are unreal.
I've played several of them over the years though I've never owned one - every one I've played has been great though, I'm sure Colin puts a lot of energy into making quality instruments.
I got a feadog brass d. It took so long to arrive I bought a Tony dixon trad d. When it finally arrived it was awful. I suppose I got what I paid for. The tony dixon was nearly 3 times the price I suppose.
People will never get the information unless you play the each note for few seconds. only then we can know the reality and quality of the whistle flute. Thanks

Lovely tune! I've been hearing it on more recordings lately too, it seems. I love Luke Deaton and Jayne Pomplas's slowish version that oozes nyah.
Hi, Thanks for the video. Could you please tell me the difference between Feadog Pro D and normal D whistles? Thanks in advance

soslothful you can do well on D whistle doing oxx ooo = C and ooo ooo = C#
And in other whistle like B etc you play the same way
soslothful yes it would just, although it probably ends in a G
Hey man nice video! Could you do videos on the Jolly Tinker and Edinburgh Rock? Two of my favourite tunes but they are tough.
Sure, I'll get them on my list - that Edinburgh Rock I haven't heard in years, gotta brush that one up for sure.
Oooh i love the jolly tinker ! Yellow tinker is a good one too! Tinkers are so silly 🙃

What are your thoughts on Clarke tinwhistles ?

@@cognitiongnosis7313 The celtic is the same whistle only with a cooler paintjob :D

would you share a list of Must Know Tunes? Say 3 each jigs, reels, slides and hornpipes. Thanks.

Oh. No, I was not thinking about a tutorial. Just a list posted in the comments or spoken in a video.
have you any experience with colin goldies D whistles
