Yoshikami is a well-known and beloved restaurant in Asakusa, Tokyo, with a rich history dating back to 1951. The restaurant was established in Japan's post-war period when Western influences significantly impacted Japanese cuisine. Yoshikami became one of the pioneers of "yōshoku" (Western-style Japanese food), which adapted Western dishes to suit Japanese tastes.
The name "Yoshikami" is derived from the founder's philosophy, which emphasizes a strong commitment to serving delicious food that brings happiness to all who eat it. Over the decades, Yoshikami has become famous for its hearty and comforting dishes like Omurice, beef katsu, and Napolitan, which blend Western cooking techniques with Japanese ingredients and flavors. This commitment to quality, evident in every dish served, will reassure you about the dining experience at Yoshikami, ensuring a satisfying and memorable meal.
Located just a short walk from the iconic Senso-Ji Temple, Yoshikami has retained its old-fashioned charm and continues to be a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The restaurant's interior, reminiscent of a classic Western diner, evokes a sense of nostalgia and history. This nostalgic atmosphere, combined with its traditional yōshoku offerings, creates a unique dining experience that is both comforting and memorable. Today, Yoshikami is celebrated as a timeless institution in Asakusa, where generations of diners have come to enjoy its satisfying and well-prepared dishes.
Everything I ate was on point, and the service was excellent. It is a great restaurant, and I recommend it to everyone who has a chance! The Steak was by far the best part of the meal; I mean, it was the best steak I have ever had that was under $40! I also recommend trying beef katsu, beef croquette, and Omurice. I rated the omurice 8.3/10, the second-best omurice of the top three in the Tokyo area. You can't make a reservation, and you will have to wait in line for at least 30 minutes; what's excellent about Yoshikami is you can put your name down, and they tell you that you can go walk around, and they will tell you what time to come back. Also, don't worry because their menu is all in English. Some of the staff speak English as well.
Thank you for watching. Please like and comment, and don't forget to subscribe! Take care, and I'll see you in the next one.
