Planning for the future is like planning a road trip. You map out your journey, considering factors such as travel expenses, company you’ll keep, places you’ll see and experiences you’ll have along the way. Deciding in advance what is important to you (and how you might handle bumps in the road) ultimately leads to a smoother experience. Over time, Parkinson’s will change what you and those in your care circles do and how those things are done. Having important discussions about future care needs and financial security early on will help identify what’s most important to you, and you’ll have peace of mind, knowing you’ve mapped out your journey in advance.
During this webinar, Marla Buchholz, Social Worker discussed planning for care throughout the various stages of Parkinson’s:
When is the right time to consider changes to your care plan?
Getting started
Public and private homecare options
Day programs
Care partner respite options
Long-term Care Homes
Substitute Decision Makers

…and more
We were also be joined by care partner, Penny Eccles, who shared her experience of navigating care options.
