I inadvertently did common place books when in med school (before I knew what they were) when I started a composition book on each physiologic system & then wrote about diagnoses I encountered, snippits of articles, pearls from my attendings, etc... ex, I did a pulmonology book & wrote in it notes about the lungs, different tests to perform, how to read flow loops, meds, diseases, etc... Best of luck on your medical career!

I really love this! I've only collected lecture notes in a big folder so far, but didn't realise how easily I could extend my common placing to medicine as well~ I think it would add on to the motivation to study during exam periods etc. Interestingly enough, I am on a respiratory ward at the moment for placement, and so your example of a pulmonology book resonates~ Thank you for sharing! I am taking the wishes of luck on board :)
(Also, if I may ask, have you had a chance to specialise yet after finishing medical school?)

Great video! It's so inspiring to see how other people process their journals. I used a bullet journal for seven years , and this is the first year I'm using a Hobonichi. I was wrestling how to use the weekly pages for a while, but now I use them as a form of rapid logging of my day or "interstitial" logging to document the events during the day, and process feelings, and then use the dailies to flesh out bigger ideas or issues. I also need to use them for work things sometimes as well, (to dos and meeting notes, etc.). It's great to see how you use your journal as an expression of yourself and as a way to process your feelings.

Thank you so much for this comment! I loved reading about how you've transferred from a bullet journal to a Hobonichi, it was a very natural choice for myself as well when I wanted to return back to analogue archiving. I love how you use your weekly pages, I often find myself running out of space to journal about my thoughts after writing out the events of the day, so I might take some inspiration from you! xx :)

Thank you for another lovely dive into your thinking on journaling and your Avec! When you explained how your Avec is a place for you to put down some weight from the day, it really resonated with me. I think that's why I've become so excited about my own journaling practice - I can really feel how much lighter my mind is after I log down my feelings, all the good and the bad, and reviewing it gives me a greater appreciation for how I'm living my life in all its big and small moments. Take care, and looking forward to the next vid!

How nice to see you in my comments again! Hello~ thank you for tuning in. I love how you've phrased this aspect of journaling, I feel like copying it in my notebook to remind myself of how much it helps me recognise those daily moments that all add to the feeling of a content life ^^ So glad to hear about your excitement with journaling as well! I hope your days have been calm, take care~

I'm inspired by the daily check- in at different times and recording what time you're first able to make it into the notebook. I feel like that's a good litmus test for how the day is going.
    Thanks for another great video!

Great video and I have subscribed to your channel. I have been keeping a journal for the last 16 years. It is now a habit that I can't do without as it lets me see aspects of myself in reactions to my daily life that I would have ignored or forgotten. Journaling for me also keeps accountability and focus on those areas of my life that I need to work on. I love it.

I love watching your videos - I just started my A5 HON and your videos have been very inspiring! This one in particular really resonated with me because I also have a busy work schedule and I’ve been struggling with finding the time for daily journaling. I was wondering, since you do adhere to the date one the page, do you ever find that one page isn’t enough room for you with your journaling?

Hello~ apologies for the late response...but they are actually just the colour of the box of text in the original design of the Hobonichi Avec~ the Friday in this case was a holiday, hence it was also coloured:) Here is the link to this book, where you can see the design of the week days: www.1101.com/store/techo/en/2024/pc/detail_cover/cb24_avec/
