Its as if Yes,Genesis,Tull,ELP,Dregs,Kansas and Beggars Opera came together to make Richard Harris and Jimmy Webb smile from above. Absolute 🔥!!!!

Dang. These are some seriously talented musicians. Really great to hear something that channels the prog rock greats of old - Yes, Jethro Tull and ELP come to mind on this one - and makes it new. They managed to take a song that had the silliest lyrics (yeah, sorry) and elevate it to something awesome.

I get razzed all the time because I always loved this tune. Back then this could have been called prog. In any case, what a great new fresh rendition!

The guy that wrote it was brilliant and his stuff was definitely a forerunner to prog. He was using melodies and chord structures that were way ahead of their time in popular music. He also wrote Wichita Lineman.

This rocks! First time through, I was thinking.. What's up with the CAKE! But turns out this is a cover of prog classic. Vintage prog, but vintage Neal!
By the way, great album. I'm in the full blown goosebump stage with "The Call", and "Waterfall". "Alive again" is reminiscent of "World without end" from Neal's last solo project.
I'm seeing Neal in Denver TOMORROW. PUMPED!!!

Its quite a different approach but still retained the beauty of the song...

Indeed. I like this kind of "kitchen sink" treatment. Pure prog excess!

By far ! Just how I thought it should've been done !
I'm trying to figure out if / where they really depart from the 'original'. At least the ending seems different. I'm also not sure about the synth solo at the start of the instrumental bit ?

Brilliant! Was just guided here by Neal Hansen from the Beggar's Opera version - which is also sublime B-) This one, though: wonderfully over-the-top in a similar vein to The Trans-Siberian Orchestra B-)

Je kiffe la voix de Bill Hubauer qui me fait penser à celle de Gary Brooker des Procol Harum

They are not covering Richard Harris' song, but JIMMY WEBB'S song. As some others still suggested you, go listen to the Beggar's Opera version; this version is cute, not nearly as great as theirs.

McArthur Park is crying out for a heavier version - this came close in parts (closest I’ve heard - inc. Beggars Opera) but didn’t quite hit it, didn’t have the flow and intensity - Fuck it maybe I’ll need to do it myself - watch this space fuckos!!

Bill Hubauer is a great musician no doubt about that, I just don't like his voice for some reason. This song is great though.

The lyrics in this are so awful. It makes me literally ill to listen to it lol. Honestly surprised this is a cover. It reminds me just how bad Daddy's Daughter is from Songs From November.
