It’s been 20 years since this show and they started their dream project. They will be in their 70’s by now. I loved this couple and I truly hope they are healthy and happy and living their best life together in their very own fortified farmhouse. It’s beautiful.
Marilyn says she likes to think she's Superwoman but she's not. I beg to differ! What a go-getter, good humored, mentally and physically strong woman. All her family and friends are blessed to have her in their lives, I'd wager! A lovely couple, family, and restoration. A thousand best wishes from the U.S.
This was my first time seeing this farm restoration and this restoration is my absolute favorite, because it is an actual family farmhouse which was owned by actual ordinary hard-working, English farmers, and not wealthy aristocrats I would love to see a video of the completed house restoration and the landscaping with the pond and he ideas that they mentioned as well as the farm animals. I loved their farm, and seeing for the most part, just the two of them doing the restoration, using the traditional building methods would have been used 500 years ago. It makes you appreciate the hard work people had to perform and that was required to provide a foundation for modern construction techniques.
@@clairehawkes1112 in 2007 they were both aged 54 (per newspaper article) so almost but not yet 70. 2023 they will turn 70. Paid £105,000 plus £179,000 in materials not counting the thousands of hours they did. £284,000 costs plus add they bought it in 2004. £360,000 sale price is very reasonable. Imo
Sometimes i wish we could time travel and bring the former residents to this time to see their homes looking so gracious and beautiful. I'm fairly sure its beyond anything they could have imagined back in the past. ❤
I'm a geordie, always loved physical work, always wanted to live in the country, but I think Terry and Marilyn must have sipped deeply from the cup of insanity,,,, but what they achieved is nothing short of miraculous,,,, all kudos to them
George Clarke is by far and away the best presenter of these type of programs with his sympathetic attitude to the people on the show and I have never heard a critical comment from him only helpful ones may he do meany more of these type of shows.
This little lady is amazing. They made me a nervous wreck afraid of the height, they could fall or something fall on them. My back hurts just watching them. An amazing couple. Just amazing. The whole thing.
Marilyn, Marilyn, Marilyn, how is it you can either see or sense what is need to groove a way forward for the ultimate end goal. Only a very, VERY few people have the ability of insight and architectural knowledge to see every aspect of a very complex build/restoration building through. I do not want to diminish what her engineer husband brings to the table, but she has a driving vision that’s very, VERY hard to not acknowledge! IDT anyone could ever look at this in real time, or even in hindsight sight and see anything differently! I don’t even know who to credit with having* the foresight in laying the path inch by inch, meter by meter until the end sight was achieved! In my mind, that’s why it’s so AMAZING! At every twist or turn, the decision made was BANG ON..and laid the foundation to the next bit that needed to be done. Step by step, inch by inch, until the very, VERY last part was in place. Only a master mind can see all the pieces at once separately, little by little, one piece at a time, and then in a grand gesture….bring all those little tiny puzzle pieces uniquely together into the very, VERY amazing and lovely fire-Placed, heated room…just gorgeous!
These two were the absolute best of this entire series. The other one to come even close was the bloke restoring the old church. Another legend. I have nothing but admiration and respect for these people. The best of British.
@@hogwashmcturnip8930 It's also fair to say that moving your entire family and changing your life for a couple with kids it's not the easiest decision. We don't know what efforts it took for them to make that decision.
@@bluezauza How does this relate to anything? My comment was on the fact that the children were Absent during the build, unless it was to feed their faces at Barbecues. If that was My mother and father taking on that project I would be wanting to help in some way. Even if it was an odd few hours at weekends. They only moved to Northumbria, not Jupiter!
These guys are in their 70’s today. I wonder how they are getting on today. I hope they are both still fit and living their dream! I have noticed that these projects generally work out very successfully when one of the couple, is usually a female accountant, (lol surprise), and the other is another professional, either some sort of technician or engineer! It's such an inspiration Just hoping to meet such amazing people. The narrator definately is having the time of his life and thank you taking us along😊
This has to be one of the most enjoyable videos ive ever seen, taken on a similar project but to a much smaller scale. 200 year old stone house belonging to my grandfather, i can totally relate to the pros and cons of such a venture. Terry and Marilyn , God bless you guys , just a pair of hand labouring superhumans!!! but with a dream!! you should be damn proud of yourselves and your grand children with thank yous forever!!! Be well , greetings from Crete!!!
Next to the definition of "intestinal fortitude" in the dictionary is a photo of this couple. Amazing work and not a power tool in sight. Here is the pioneering spirit that builds nations, so lacking in most of today's populace.
Terry and Marilyn, you two rock!!! I love that you show that middle aged people can take on and tackle huge projects. If you guys can do what you're doing in your early 50's, it makes my dream of having my own little homestead with small garden/orchard and baking business at 59 + , seem do-able...Jesus loves you! Keep on keeping on.
For sure and I thought painting the whole inside and outside of my house at 70 and cutting up a 50+ foot tree that fell in my yard up by myself was amazing at my age. KUDOS to this couple. I honestly struggle to lift 50 pounds. My spirit is still there. My strength and grip in my hands is lacking. But baby I hung onto that chain saw for three weeks day after day in 100 degree weather and smoke in the air from local fires that year to get that tree off my lawn.
He likes to think I’m superhuman but I’m not, something I think most women have said at one time or another.. either way this woman is a gem anyone would be proud to call her wife, mother, grandmother, friend.
I’m in awe of the indomitable spirit of this wonderful couple. Their strength and determination is so inspiring to watch. I love watching restorations, bringing something ancient and forgotten back to life for themselves and future generations.

Remarkable couple with so much passion and tenacity. Such a beautiful house and surroundings. I take my hat off to them, and wish them many years of happiness. Bravo!!!
This is absolutely stunning. They are not only a part of the History, but they made their own with their own bare hands. It is a story for their coming family generations.
They were so fortunate to be offered the chance to rebuild this place and even more fortunate they recognized the potential and grabbed it with both hands (and strong backs). Most satisfying of all is they didn't give up. True grit.
Anybody else just fast forwarded through presenter. I jut listened to this lovely couple commentating on their rebuild. I really didn't need a presenter telling me a window narrowed. I could see it. Fantastic renovation.
I think this couple is the most amazing and the best for all series of all seasons of cycles with construction and restorations. The previous episode about them is my favorite. I think they will not disappoint me in this episode either.
Marilyn & Terry are my idols when it comes to their relationship with one another, their family & the world around them. They have what I would call "Geordie grit" & I love them for it. I do wonder if they are still there as I saw a real estate listing for the property. It made me wonder if they are healthy & OK. I pray they are.

Every time I watch one of these restoration programs the winter is always the worst it’s been for 10,20,30 years 😂😂😳
Because these are typically shot over a few years. So it could very well be the same winter affecting all the builds at the same time
😂😂😂
So proud of this couple. I can't believe that redid that house. It's like the saying “ Where there's a will, there's a way”. Amazing couple!
My absolute 100 percent respect and admiration for these two...incredible achievement!!!❤💛💙
