Keep in mind this song came out 19 years after the band was formed. It's RARE a band starts pumping out new hits at the top of the charts 19 years into their career. More typically bands go into touring with their greatest past hits and have a hard time having even mild success with new songs. They busted back onto the music scene in a major way in the late 1980s and again in the early 1990s.

Good times, bad times, you know they've had their share…
The irony is a duet with a Rap Band in 1986 opened them up to a whole new generation on MYV. I was in 8th grade when they did ‘Walk This Way’ with Run DMC and it was a huge hit to everyone in my class. A lot of people from my generation didn’t realize it was a remake of Aerosmith’s 1970’s song. Aerosmith went on a run from 1987 to the early/mid 90’s as they ruled MTV.
Musically this one just absolutely hits it out of the park. Such a groove, such riffs. Joey Kramer's drumming is some of his best ever. But personally I still lean towards 70s Aerosmith. Too much of their comeback era lyrically amounts to "I'm off the drugs, so now I'm a sex addict!"
@katskillz That’s somewhat true I guess, but I still feel it’s done tongue in cheek with a lot of humour. It would be excruciating if it wasn’t, I agree.
I also disagree with this. The only decent 70s Aerosmith song was "Walk This Way".....and that didn't even get really good until the 80s version. And then the band had their golden period up until 1993 or so. And then briefly with "Jaded" in 2000. Then they died.
If you do a full album, it should be Toys in the Attic. I was going to recommend that "Sweet Emotion" for your next Aerosmith song, but it's on Toys in the Attic, so you'll hear it if you do the whole album. As far as '80s/'90s Aerosmith, "Cryin'" is my favorite, but others will call for "Janie's Got a Gun" or "Living on the Edge". I think that all of these songs are better than "Love in an Elevator", not that the latter isn't also good.
Apparently, a couple famous ppl were caught having fun in an elevator and that's where the song came from. When the album came out, they asked Steven who it was about. He said, "I'm not going to embarrass them, but when they hear the song, they'll know it's about them."
For albums, Toys in the Attic is probably the place to start, although I have a soft spot for Get Your Wings - their raunchy second album where they're just coming into their real groove. For 80s(-90s), the 3-album run Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip are all a little overlong (CD era), but still jam-packed with hits and cool deep cuts.
Looks like you haven't heard Sweet Emotion yet. THAT is the Aerosmith era worth listening to. Edit: I just rewatched the reaction to Dream On and Andy says he's heard Sweet Emotion in that video. Bummer. That would be the tune to hear.
Full blown banger....this was all over the radio when it dropped.... It's an S tier rock song but.....in the Aerosmith catalogue it's an A tier song....that's how fucking good this band is
"Love In An Elevator" is one of Aerosmith's best MTV-era songs, great riffs, witty, sexualized lyrics, killer drums and a band that sounds like they are having a ton of fun while making music. All traits of their first four or five albums. Anything from "Aerosmith", "Get Your Wings", "Toys In The Attic", "Rocks" and "Draw The Line" will work. Specifics: "One Way Street", "Somebody", "Movin' Out", "Make It", "S.O.S.(Too Bad)", "Lord Of The Thighs", "Train Kept A Rollin' ", "No More No More", "Nobody's Fault", "Uncle Salty", "Last Child", "Rats In The Cellar", "Combination", "Kings And Queens, "Milk Cow Blues".
Aerosmith Rocks was my first favorite album back when I was 13 or so in the 70s. I still listen to it often all the way through. It is 70s Aerosmith at their peak. Great flow, and every song is a banger! I highly recommend it!
It was Toys in the Attic for me. I still consider it their best album. But I like them all. Saw them 3 times live and one of the best live shows you could see.
This album, "Pump," is one of the best that Aerosmith made in their post "Toxic Twins" era. Definitely worth a full album playthrough. Even the non-radio album cuts are bangers.
Early Aerosmith, Toys in the Attic, is a good choice , but for Aerosmith at their grittiest, "Get Your Wings" with "Seasons of Whither" "Same Old Song and Dance" , Lord of the Thighs, and their straight up Banger, "Train Kept A' Rolling" is the Toxic Twins in full party mode.
"Last Child" is, without a doubt, the funkiest song ever recorded by a hard rock band. It was like a head-on collision between the Meters and Alice Cooper.
That's a banger. I bump it up to an S for subject matter, and, quite honestly, they're Aerosmith. They've earned the right to repeat the chorus as many times as they want.
You guys need to review this entire album! Before the song starts: "[Intro: Catherine Epps & Steven Tyler], 2nd floor, hardware, children's wear, lady's lingerie Oh, good morning Mr. Tyler, going down? Hehehehehe, ooh Yeah!"
That's all I thought through the entire song. Just kept thinking... "But they missed the intro!" And now I'm noticing 7 of the words I just typed, begin with TH. Can YOU say 'thought through song' 3X, really fast? (w/o mentioning thongs) Thounds a bit lispthy. 🤣 👀
You guys really need to focus on the 70s era of Aerosmith more. Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, Train Kept A Rolling, Last Child, Back in the Saddle. The mid to late 80s for Aerosmith were kind of hit and miss, but the 80s Aerosmith song you NEED to do is Janies Got a Gun. If you do that one, watch the video too.
To be honest, if any song of theirs should have been #1, it should have been Janie. Yes the song dealt with a controversial topic for the time, but the way the song is put together is top notch.
This song is 100% FUN!! The 'Oohh's and 'Oh Yeahs!' are automatic responses from any crowd that hears it! True confession: my favorite place to hear this used to be in strip clubs! The dancers would go crazy! LOL!!!
This would be really great, if not for even much greater 70s Aerosmith. I will mention "Sick As a Dog" from Rocks. Let us enjoy a bit more of that album, before the Patreon club hoards the whole brilliant thing.
Many of us who grew up with Aerosmith assumed they were dead and not coming back after their first implosion. Agree that the comeback era was not as good as their ascendency, but still an impressive comeback. Quick aside - saw them open for Black Sabbath in 75. Love Sabbath, but Aerosmith blew them away.
It's an OK radio song. The video was popular. But I'm in the group that thinks the real Aerosmith ended with Rocks (maybe Draw the Line). Listen to this then play Last Child. Or Walk this Way. Back in the Saddle. Rehab and sobriety changed them. See also Eric Clapton.
Just FYI, at the time, many folks and critics said they felt there was an homage to the Beatles' Sgt Pepper album in this song which was caused by the inclusion of the piccolo trumpet blasting through the background, mostly in the last third of the song. Also, it should be noted that the first of the guitar solos was played by Brad Whitford, a very underrated guitarist, erroneously thought of as merely the rhythm guitarist to Joe Perry's lead. I'm sure someone will mention the beginning of the video to this :D
I’ve been thinking that this was Joe Perry’s solo for such a long time, wow. Thing is, I went and saw them live in about 93-94ish, so I should’ve known better, unfortunately I had had one too many beers by the time they came on. What a sad state of affairs. 😎
Aerosmith got me started on my rock journey. My parents listened to country, my sister listened to pop. I was 10 years old in '75, and the teenager two doors down bought the Toys In The Attic cassette, and would blast it from his Ford Bronco sitting in his driveway. I loved what I was hearing, and asked him one day who was that band? The rest is a long history of rock and roll bliss for me.
How does Steven Tyler scream with that raspy voice in every song and still be able to do it today? This is a great song from an iconic, solid, rock band. I love these guys!!
I’ll always have a soft spot for this era of Aerosmith. My mom got really into them at this point in the late 80’s. She was constantly playing the video cassettes of their behind the scenes on these albums. And the Pump tour was my first concert when I was about 8. The Black Crows opened for them before they were famous. It got me hooked on music for the rest of my life.
"Some bands, they just Fuck, and Aerosmith are one of those bands" is probably one of the best things I've heard in a while. Made me laugh and nod my head wisely. Well said!
70s era to be sure. Depending on one's age, everyone's older sibling had Toys in the Attic during the 70s. A lot of great songs from that era, No More No More and Kings and Queens are just two. You really can't go wrong with any of their 70 hits and even deep cuts
Last time I saw them (2016 ?), the drummer did a solo using only his hands in this song. It was mesmorizi g and something I'd never seen anyone attempt before.
That repeated chorus got REAL old when you heard this over and over on the radio and MTV. This is a banger that you only need to hear once or twice and you've gotten everything out of it. IMO.
I totally agree with you and the four that I see commenting below. They have much better songs. It is boring to hear that same thing over and over again but if you are going to listen to an Aerosmith song that does that, I would recommend Train Kept A Rollin. It stripped down early Aerosmith at their best. For my money doing it on a train is a lot more comfortable than an elevator anyway...
Even though I prefer '70s era Aerosmith, this is a great song; and, it's one of the reasons why the band is the biggest selling American Rock band ever with over 150 million records sold. I played the sh!t out my "Get Your Wings" and "Toys In the Attic" cassettes, back then in my 1970, maroon, 350, Chevy Malibu. Great group that helped define '70s Rock. Joe Perry should be mentioned up there with some of the greatest guitarists ever. Love you guys!
That's what I'm talking about guys. AEROSMITH!!! Please do more 1970s Aerosmith that is S Tier. Rats in the Cellar is a good start. I'll show you how to fax in the mailroom honey and have you home by 5! Aerosmith the greatest and best selling American Rock band ever!
The record/LP came out in '89, And put Aerosmith back on top..won the "Comeback LP of the Year" at the Grammys .MTV kept "Lovin' In an elevator" on heavy rotation, everyone was diggin' it. It does happen a bit during wild company parties Remember, you can always press the stop button. From my time working in corporate jobs my general understanding is: It all depends on how open-minded the boss is- some'll fire ya, some will wink and say "Well done Johnson--carry on!"
Great tune! Love their 70s stuff more, but I still dig the newer. All time fave is Train Kept a Rollin’ released in 74, love to get your reaction on that one!
Loved their first four albums, Aerosmith, Get Your Wings, Toys In The Attic, and Rocks. Any one of those would be worthy of a full album reaction. Single Tunes, One Way Street (Aerosmith), Same Old Song And Dance (Get Your Wings), Sweet Emotion (Toys In The Attic), and Sick As A Dog (Rocks).
Not sure if it was just the video you watched but at the very beginning, before music starts Steven has a really short conversation with a girl running the elevator. Kinda sets the whole song up.
Andy & Alex: A few folks are telling you that *Toys in the Attic* is the Aerosmith album to hit on Patreon. Yes, it's a great album, but still ... don't heed their advice. The albums to hear is the one that came after that, *Rocks* . It's their best album from their best period. Even the guys in Aerosmith have stated that *Rocks* captured them at their creative peak, before heroin and cocaine caused the Toxic Twins (singer Steven Tyler and lead guitarist Joe Perry) to lose the plot.
I agree, Rocks is great. It's a hard choice, but upon reflection, I believe Toys In the Attic is a tad better. More variety of sound. Overall, every one of their albums is pure good and happy rock, some of the best stuff there ever was produced. I think A & A should do "Sweet Emotion" next...
My sister & I were in training to be flight attendants for major airline that has a hub in DFW during this tour. My sis bf was a roadie for the band at this time so our entire fa class was invited to the concert while they were in town. I just found some old pics playing Aerosmith arcade backstage. wild night!
I have always heard references to "Love in an Elevator" but never heard the song before. I must've been living under a rock (which explains my pale skin) because how could I not hear this banger? Thanks for sharing it Alex! 😺😻
What you guys meant to say is that there are bands that are unquestionably gods of Rock n' Roll!!! And Aerosmith is one of those bands....They are among the gods of Rock n' Roll! Steve Tyler is one of Best Front men and singer of Rock n' Roll along with Robert Plant....Mick Jagger......Freddie Mercury....and Joe Perry is one of the Best lead guitar players in Rock n' Roll along with Stevie Ray Vaugh....Jimmy Hendrix....Eric Clapton....Jimmy Page.....Brian May...Steve Howe!
As a massive Aerosmith fan, obviously by my profile icon, I would recommend Back in the Saddle, Monkey on my back, Last Child, etc. The studio versions are great but the live versions are amazing. The band is starting their farewell tour in September and are still killing it and are full of energy even into their mid 70's.
Aerosmith had a rwrap sound in in 80s and created the comeback walk my way and had a couple guys learn to wrap and had success with the new team that was so good to see them again
Andy & Alex now y'all have to see the Music Video to "Love in an Elevator." Song suggestions. "Sweet Emotion" "Livin on the Edge" Janie's Got a Gun" "Crying"
Next Aerosmith song? Big Then Inch Last night I tried to tease her I gave my love a little pinch She said now stop that jivin' Now whip out your big 10 inch Record of a band that plays the blues Well a band that plays the blues She just love my big 10 inch Record of her favorite blues
There used to be a late night TV rock show in the UK that, through its history, changed its name from "The Power Hour" to "Raw Power" to "Noisy Mothers". The theme for one iteration included part of the solo from "Love in an Elevator". At the time (very early 90s) the show jump started my interest in current music again (the late 80s with manufactured pop pap had led to me abandoning chart music). The show let me discover new bands and be there to hear the advent of grunge. And see/hear Aerosmith for the first time - Steve Tyler's mouth and an unconnected TV advertisement including the term "flip top head" seemed the perfect match. 😂 The point of my rambling is that hearing that Aerosmith riff reminds me of how I re-engaged with "new" music and expanded my music collection.
Saw Arrowsmith at a beer blast in college at MIT - unbelievable party band - to think they were making hits for DECADES! Made me want to be a singer, for sure!
I’m reading in the comments that you dudes haven’t yet done Sweet Emotion??????? After four years + having a channel???? Perhaps their most famous song?. Please rectify this oversight ASAP!
I loved Aerosmith's whole 80s/MTV resurgance!! Pump and Permanent Vacation were great albums. Yes, I love their 70s music sooo much, but I think they're one of the only artists to pull off having 2-3 separate & great eras of original music. Janie's Got a Gun is one of my favorite's from their 80s songs.
Keep in mind this song came out 19 years after the band was formed. It's RARE a band starts pumping out new hits at the top of the charts 19 years into their career. Pretty much the only classic rock band that actually got better in the ‘80s.
@well the woman left home for a better man but they still don’t seem to care

Musically this one just absolutely hits it out of the park. Such a groove, such riffs. Joey Kramer's drumming is some of his best ever.
But personally I still lean towards 70s Aerosmith. Too much of their comeback era lyrically amounts to "I'm off the drugs, so now I'm a sex addict!"
I disagree. It sounds like a throw-away song to me. Phoning it in as they say.
@@Grizazzle Jealous much?
@katskillz That’s somewhat true I guess, but I still feel it’s done tongue in cheek with a lot of humour. It would be excruciating if it wasn’t, I agree.
Three songs on this album have the exact same melody with different lyrics. IT IS BRILLIANT!!!
I also disagree with this. The only decent 70s Aerosmith song was "Walk This Way".....and that didn't even get really good until the 80s version.
And then the band had their golden period up until 1993 or so. And then briefly with "Jaded" in 2000.

I think I prefer Rag Doll as 80s Aerosmith goes, but this is a fun throwback.

100% do this.
I personally prefer Get Your Wings
Definitely Toys In The Attic. If you were into rock in the 70s, you had this album.
Love " Toy's in the Attic " but I also have to recommend " Rock's "
It's *Rocks* . As great as *Toys in the Attic* is, *Rocks* is where Aerosmith peaked. Even the guys in the band think that.
Aerosmith's longevity is very, very impressive. I love their music from every era.
I have to agree except for the Night in the Ruts and Rock in a Hard Place albums
Walk This Way, Dream On, Sweet Emotion, and the list goes on.

“The Making of Pump” is a fun documentary on the recording of this album. A great look into the inner workings of the band at that time (1989)
That's what I'm talking about guys. AEROSMITH!!! Please do more 1970s Aerosmith that is S Tier. Rats in the Cellar is a good start. I'll show you how to fax in the mailroom honey and have you home by 5! Aerosmith the greatest and best selling American Rock band ever!
Aerosmith Crazy, Angel, Rag Doll are all bangers
TOYS IN THE ATTIC .......AND BE READY TO ROCK!!🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
You could chose albums, ,get your wings,Toys in the attic, draw the line, permanent vacation, pump,, great a grip, just push play just to name a few .
A&A, you'd love their "Sweet Emotion", "Cryin' " and "Jaded"!!
Over 30 years later it still sounds great!!!
Love this! My favorite aerosmith album. I remember listening to this on the school bus with my sony walkman
I just found some old pics playing Aerosmith arcade backstage. wild night!
Favorite Aerosmith 80's song.....Walk This Way! with RUN DMC (1985).
I have always heard references to "Love in an Elevator" but never heard the song before. I must've been living under a rock (which explains my pale skin) because how could I not hear this banger? Thanks for sharing it Alex! 😺😻
Love this whole album.
Joe Perry, underrated guitarist. Aerosmith put out some great rock.
Saw them in Vegas in 2019 and were still killin it...definite fan favorite
Heck yes. Enjoy this gem guys. Thanks.
ROCKS!
Great production during this span of hits.
Yup. In your face!!
A deep cut from this album to check out: "F.I.N.E."
Greatest American rock-N-roll band!
I saw them in Philly on this tour. Seeing them sing the end together was awesome
I will stand by this forever and I say this with hours of thought...
This is one of the top 10 Rock Albums ever!
Take the time to watch,
AEROSMITH unplugged-
MILK COW BLUES!!
Listen to a Boston girl on this one ! Banger w/pictures!!
They have so many great songs! This one is ridiculous and I love it!
Want to hear possibly the absolute BEST rock song by an America-based band? Give “Mama Kin” by these same fellas a listen.
"sweet emotion" should be next :)
I don't think they sold out. They changed their music with the times and it was fire. Ragdoll is great.
Their version of Train Kept a Rollin’ (‘74) was killer!
Yes to videos!
Next Aerosmith song? Big Then Inch
Last night I tried to tease her
I gave my love a little pinch
She said now stop that jivin'
Now whip out your big 10 inch
Record of a band that plays the blues
Well a band that plays the blues
She just love my big 10 inch
Record of her favorite blues
RECIPROCITY!! 😂 Aerosmith was too cool for school, and cranked out the bangers 🎶
It is when you guys hit a song like this that I realize just how young YOU are and just how OLD I am! This still rocks so hard!!!
