2:27 gives me lots of memories when i went to tokyo, miss getting on the train and hearing this seconds before my train leaves the station, or when i get off the train :D
(kinshicho stn was my everyday station, used it in and out when i was in tokyo. as an ototetsu myself, all these melodies remind me so much of japan)

5:41 This is "The Third Man ver. G". Near this station is now Yebisu Garden Place, where the Yebisu Beer factory used to be. The song "The Third Man" was used in a Yebisu Beer commercial, which is why this departure melody was chosen.

honestly sounds a lot better than those back home on SMRT... or is it the vibe of tokyo train stations that makes it better?

is cos we specifically pick chimes that fit the station (like the vibes of that general area be it traditional, garden, lake, river, seaside or futuristic modern)

It's a departure signal sound called "Melody." You can hear it at most Toei Subway stations.

Some of busier stations employ dedicated "platform supervisors" that supervise and giving closing door & depart order to conductor. Seen in the 8:18, there was supervisor who used green torch to signal conductor.
Another type is departure order in form of overhead indicator and buzzer (出発指示) which is operated by platform supervisors. Example of those orders are in this playlist:

it’s the same chime as the sound that plays when keikyu trains pass a station. it’s a bit more 8 bit sounding, but you can find it by searching keikyu melody. it’s usually at the end of the video.
