Good call on the impact of his father. BB watched his dad mold not just football players at Navy, but hundreds of midshipmen. Bill has raised kids, is close to them and softened as as coach over the years. He can get smart players in the portal and experiment with everything in the book. He is a teaching coach. I also agree with how his circle has gotten smaller since his Cleveland days. Maybe pull in some ex-Patriot players. No billionaire owner or son to answer to.

If UNC doesn't achieve top 5 program status. That doesn't mean it didn't work.

contrast him with most current athletes who haven't thought about anything. theyre too occupied developing physically, video gaming, and status-based living.

Curran nailed it all. Bill was never getting hired in the NFL. Too much baggage and a refusal to adapt to the modern landscape.
As for UNC, it’ll be the same as Deion at Colorado. Rough first year, then 8-4, 10-2, 11-1. But he’ll never beat Georgia or Ohio State. It’s a strange end for arguably the GOAT.

Post Brady one cannot argue how abysmal the patriots were! Given his coaching tree and drafting record, I wasn’t surprised he had no nfl coaching offers. Crazy given his credentials

Also don’t forget he wants full control. His in game coaching was excellent but often Bill the coach was having success in spite of Bill the GM.

Wonder if this is going to be something like a Belichek guy - Charlie Weis - in Notre Dame. Starts hot (with someone else's team), then just...kinda cratered.

Similar to Weis ND but worse because of the structural changes since then. Weis was able to inherit a talented team, but Belichick won’t because basically the entire team has hit the portal. UNC doesn’t have any OL coming back next year right now, they’re all transferring.
Being “schematically advantaged” over your opponents means nothing in college, because any attempt to vary your gameplan week to week confuses your own guys as much as the opponents.

I was shocked when he passed on Lamar Jackson. Really lost his draft fastball with that pick.
Pretty sure he would still be coaching the Pats if Lamar was on the team.

I’d assume Belichick would have conversations with Nick Saban about the college game and recruiting.
But let’s be real-does anyone truly believe Bill is building an NFL minor league team? Are we supposed to think he’s the first coach to come up with this idea just because he has a 450-page book on football strategy? And are we to believe he’s suddenly focused on developing kids with an open-door policy for mentoring? At this point in his mid-70s, he must realize this is a short run with a limited window.

Let me clarify some misconceptions about Bill Belichick:
      1. He didn’t just “luck into” winning at the level he and the Patriots did. His success was built on strategy, preparation, and execution.
      2. Yes, Tom Brady was a massive part of the team’s success. But what dynasty hasn’t had a great coach and quarterback combination? That partnership is a cornerstone of sustained success in the NFL.

Yeah there is alot of football talent in the vast corridor between Maryland & South Carolina that usually plays elsewhere due to lack of football powerhouses between that region, I think Bill can change that.

Short answer to the title question “lmao no”. Bill fits worse in college than bob knight would in the nba.
