That's not a weird question at all! Unfortunately a mohawk would not stay up in a pool, or in downpour rains. But in a drizzle and strong winds the mohawk will be fine. Also the mohawk can last up to 3 days if you do it the way it is shown in this tutorial. On the third day you can either restyle or just wash it off. I usually wash it off the day of.
Yep! you can wear it more than a day, but you'd have to sleep on the side of your head, and when you wake up you'd just have to touch it up. After you get really good at it, it is actually really quick to do everyday, around 10-14 minutes!
Thankyou very much! i really appreciate it! took me a long time to figure out how to get it down.. haha and thats exactly why i posted a video! there is like no one on youtube that has curly hair and tried helping people do a proper mohawk!
I gave it a shot, but the spikes make me look like a fricken rooster (longer bangs, shorter in the back) so I just put it back to make spikes (like a dragon.) The gel was a little much, so I used the hair spray instead... Will do again next celebration. Thank you SO much for your advice though! You really helped me out!! Have a blessed weekend~
ya man! anytime! buy a dryer once and you'll be good forever! so no worries! im glad it worked! and im glad you liked it! let me know if you have any other questions!
that used to happen to me as well, its not that you dont have enough hair, its just the way you angle it while holding your hair and using the hairspray.
haha, hey man no problem! Im actually really glad you like it this much (: When i did the video i think my hair was about 6-8 inches... i cut it at around 9-10 inches. If your hair is much curlier than mine, what you can do before the process is to just straighten your hair. Try it out both ways, and i will not lie, it will be SICK. People will be staring with jaws dropped. Trust me. But my hair grows really fast. Dude if you do a mohawk, leave it in a video response. And plus i can give tips!
Sure! The way you can do that is by following these steps in the sense that the freeze spray is really important! But instead of using your hands you'll need to use a comb! and you'll need to tease your hair. It is a lot harder to do and will take a lot more time in the beginning as you are just getting used to it. But basically the difference is just that you'll have to use a comb for that! Also most likely no gel. Just hairspray.
Hahaha! I'd look absolutely ridiculous with a mohawk :P I was actually asking because I was writing about a character who has a lovely triple mohawk. He falls into a river during the story and I wanted to know exactly how goofy he will look when he climbs out. Quite goofy, apparently :D Thanks again!
Got2b glue hairspray, and the gel. You can get them at CVS, duane reade, walmart, walgreens or order them online. Other products include, gorilla snot and a variety of other things. For that you can scroll through the comments because many people offer very good products.
hello hello, well it really depends on your type of hair, mine was really curly so it took a much longer time to stay still but with the right equipment and practice it took me at most 13 minutes in the morning to spike my hair. Of course when i started it neard 30 minutes. but after a month or three weeks it was down to 13 minutes. Also if your hair is straight.... itll be so much easier.. just try it once and see how well it works for you. and your welcome (: glad i could help
well i just wet my hair a little and used a towel to remove some water i used hair gel to spike up then did you process with hair spray and dryer it worked thanks and good work with the video now i need to buy my own dryer i borrowed from the neighbors i dint know the dryer was so important with the mohawk before i used water and gel and it dint work.and thanks again
I use the gel and the spray yes, and it works like a charm, but it looks like there is more in your cans, i can only get some 300ml ones, and that lasts for about 4 hawkies. And just a tip the hawk dont like to get a beer shower ;P i learned that the hard way!
That sounds like a great idea! yeah I think ill try and do that! That sounds like a great idea and the thing about the wig is that with the heat it might cause the scalp to get really itchy hahaha. And dont worry about it. It happens right?
Okay, this is kind of a weird question, but I was wondering-if someone with a mohawk jumped into a swimming pool, would their mohawk lose its shape? Or would it mostly keep its shape and just get a little droopy-looking? How "durable" are they, exactly? How long will one stay up before you need to re-style it?
@xMohawk yeah..but when it comes to the back of the mohawk...you gotta be careful because if you do it wrong it will come out crooked and its really hard to fix.
Of course no problem!! by chance do you have the name of the gel? so i can offer it to people who might be looking for an alternative cheaper brand? THANKS! (you should also make a video and put it as a response) :)
Mine stays up ALL day. if anything a school day is 8am-3pm. I know some people that just sleep on their side and use the same hair the next day.. It's too hard for me to shower and then sleep like that so I don't do it.. lol But it will definitely last a long time. and the hairspray is what makes it last!
hey if you still have it can you make another video and kinda explain how to do the curve of your head and the back? i can spike the front of mine myself no problem but those parts look like shit when i do it.
i use gorilla snot and it works fine. i rub it on my hands then rub it though the mohawk and shape it with my hands and i dont blow dry in or use hairspray. try that once.
Of course, and if it does not work then you just have to straighten your hair first. But my hair is curly just not SUPER thick curly. But if your hair is SUPER thick curly, then just try my method and if it does not work then try the same method but straighten your hair first!
hi there! okay so the aussie instant freeze styling gel only has one problem, that its gel. With too much gel your hair will get heavy and fall, is there any sort of Hair spray that you could use as a substitute? for this to work it needs a combination of both hairspray and gel. Try buying some sort of hairspray and use the blow dryer on it to see if itll harden your hair. If you buy a separate hairspray produce maybe the aussie gel can also work similar to the Got2B spiking glue! Let me know (:
Bro, trust me when i say this. Mohawks get you attention anywhere you go. and its just so sweet. You'd def not be dissatisfied but skrillix also has a nasty cut. Whichever you think will fit your style more at this point. (: hope i helped influence your decision in some way. Plus check out my Liberty spikes, maybe youll like that more. Looks pretty baddass!
Try doing it recreationally just to see how long it will take you and stuff....you know like get a feel for it! and then it should get easier with a little bit of practice. Doing it on a weekend or something is good
How does it fold over? are you blow drying it? When i first started spiking my hair i used ONLY got2b glue and my hair would always curl. Have you tried both the hair spray and the gel?
I had a couple of friends that could do flips and run around in it and stuff. but with sports the only problem is profuse sweating might cause a problem. but other than that i think you should be fine.... If you play any sort of sport for an hour or two you should be fine, but if youre an athlete that will train for hours it might be a problem ): Hope i helped!
Try Looking for Aquanet hairspray, and Gorilla snot (a type of gel), and VolumeX hairspray. Those are the products people have recommended after watching the videos i have up (:
@deepskysnow23 These products would DEF be the way to make it stand. but for that you'd have to use a comb and use more of the hairspray than the gel. but its very doable and a very good style and i have seen it done. You'd have to comb it up and hairspray and then blow dry, and then do the other sides. Make sure you get your hair cut appropraitely!
Hey! I have a question about spiking up a wide mohawk. I simply got shaved off sides and I left my scalp and back (so yea, its pretty wide) and I wonder how do I set it up. Do You maybe know how to make it? I am not interested in narrowing it, just to make it high and wide :D
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia? Darnnn yoo i dont know what kind of stores... you guys.. have there? But i usually get it at places like CVS, Duane reade, or like anywhere that sells Hair products.... If anything try ordering it online because they do have an online website. Only downside would be that it would take longer to get there.
Where can you buy those products? and what were their names again? also, can you get them online? since I'm not from America I doubt our stores would sell it.
Keep your hair dry! if you do wet it, itll just have way too much weight and itll fall over. remember youre gonna be blow drying your hair anyways! but if you would like to wet it, after you wet it, dry it with a towel so that only very little water remains! Let me know how it goes!
I'm planning on getting a mohawk just like yours, will it hold if I go biking? I don't have a car, so I use my bike, but I don't wanna fuck up everything
@mxgotland i actually dont have a mohawk right now BUT having long mohawks are always cooler than the smaller ones! but a good 4-5 inches is really good. In the video it is about 7-7.5 inches
@1030guille Thankyou so much! and i am really glad you like it and will make a similar hawk! you should make a video id love to see! And yeah my hair tends to be really curly hahaa (: thanks again
@MohawkSgone Yo yeah that makes sense! its that Hairspray holds it up really well but it doesnt last.. itll start to like fall down eventually and not stay as straight up! And the gel like prevents zero flaking if you dont use too much and makes it super hard.. Yeah its mad curly though -_-.
@zackz22 Hmm well that used to happen to me if i put on too much, but i got over that once i started getting better, try messing around with your hair when you get bored and see what you can do It might also be youre putting on too much g2b glue and it weighs the hair down to split, remember hairspray, blow dry, then little bit of g2b glue gel to keep it going the whole day
@jwarrior343 You can usually get them at rite aide, duane reade, cvs... i dont know if these stores are available out of america if you type in Google Got2b The first website link (the one not in yellow) has products and a store locator and the second has how to use tips. If you try google im sure there are some sites that do ship (: After all the products arent really American (:
well my question to you is when my mohawk used to fail was iut because I used lpots of regular hair gel and the weight made it go down and if I used this method it might work or is it because of my hairtype
i have curly hair and it kinda sucks for this type of haircut when i do the mohawk i wet it with water completely and then use a towel to remove some water but when i put the gel it stays ok for a minute then it starts falling to the sides and it looks crappy i never used hair spray or the dryer im going to try to it and should i wet my hair a lot??
@smartaspresidentbush LMAO its all cool! Dude you have curly too? well man.. it took my like a whole good 5 months to learn how to control.. takes forever to learn how to but once you got it.. YOU GOT IT!.. I hope i helped and enjoy!
I do not have access to the freeze spray you mention, but I have the Got2B spiking glue. I'm replacement of the freeze spray, I have Aussie Instant Freeze styling gel (3 out of 4 strength.) would this work? (I have a poofy/curly mohawk...)
oooohhhh that looks pretty good!! nice!! i actually just uploaded a new video with all the different styles you could maybe do with a mohawk, maybe you could take a look and give me more ideas?
Thanks i just tried in and it sits pretty well! I just got this mohawk a few days so it needs some tuning but this is perfect! thanks man!
Cool, that definitely helps me out. Thanks for such a quick answer!
Yep! you can wear it more than a day, but you'd have to sleep on the side of your head, and when you wake up you'd just have to touch it up. After you get really good at it, it is actually really quick to do everyday, around 10-14 minutes!
This is awesome! A classic mohawk. Nicely done!
Thankyou very much! i really appreciate it! took me a long time to figure out how to get it down.. haha and thats exactly why i posted a video! there is like no one on youtube that has curly hair and tried helping people do a proper mohawk!
Hi there! Thanks! I really appreciate it! I actually just recently had to cut it off because i went to a funeral, but i am growing it back out again!
I gave it a shot, but the spikes make me look like a fricken rooster (longer bangs, shorter in the back) so I just put it back to make spikes (like a dragon.) OH haha yeah! it would be quite goofy! That sounds really cool! I'd love to read a story like that! sounds awesome! Good luck with it!

RIGHT?! its just so funny to see peoples reactions! hahaha no one ever expects it!
thnkxz man... intructions were very needed
well i just wet my hair a little and used a towel to remove some water i used hair gel to spike up then did you process with hair spray and dryer it worked thanks and good work with the video now i need to buy my own dryer i borrowed from the neighbors i dint know the dryer was so important with the mohawk before i used water and gel and it dint work.and thanks again
Thanks man! I hope this works. I only used allot of hairgel and hairspray but it would colapse on the way to school :(
I use the gel and the spray yes, and it works like a charm, but it looks like there is more in your cans, i can only get some 300ml ones, and that lasts for about 4 hawkies. And just a tip the hawk dont like to get a beer shower ;P i learned that the hard way!

ahh (: well im glad I could help even in the littlest way! Thank you! Enjoy your days as well!

@Futbologist
if you want it wide, make sure to get it cut wider at first, and after that depending on how your hair grows it should be no problem :)

I really like you mohawk. I will make a mohawk like you. Good video!
You have the only video of mohawk with an curl hair.
YUP! once you get the hairspray, itll be easy peasy! Let me know if it still doesnt work out after the hairspray
hey if you still have it can you make another video and kinda explain how to do the curve of your head and the back? i can spike the front of mine myself no problem but those parts look like shit when i do it.
Im thinking about getting one, how long do you think my hair should be, and also, how long is your hair? (:

I had been doing my hair like that for a long time it really works good with the freeze spray
@TheAwesomeRA7
Its Got2be Glue hairstyling gel. its the original one.
How does it fold over? are you blow drying it? When i first started spiking my hair i used ONLY got2b glue and my hair would always curl. Have you tried both the hair spray and the gel?
Yea it will definitely hold. You got no worries.

Hey man, anytime! Thanks for watching
Thanks! I really hope it helped!
It works better with longer hair but it also worked for me with short hair, did you blow dry?
Btw did you wet your hair before you did your mohawk. Or was it completly dry before you started.
oh shoot yeah I think we might get a little bit more.. LOL a beer shower?! wait is that showering drunk?! LMAO that's hilarious!
I'd say the best stuff around is VolumeX hair spray...worked the best when I had a foot long hawk
Try Looking for Aquanet hairspray, and Gorilla snot (a type of gel), and VolumeX hairspray. Those are the products people have recommended after watching the videos i have up (:

You can get about 15-20 mohawks out of a can of hairspray, and a can of hairspray is about 6 dollars.
thankyou! and I have tried it (:
@justin45256
its got2b glue hairspray and gel, at a duane reade or CVS or something

it is very curly! my hair in the beginning is naturally like that!
@xMohawk oh yeah !!!! thanks man i suscribed ;) abd thanx for the video

wow what a great tutorial
well my question to you is when my mohawk used to fail was iut because I used lpots of regular hair gel and the weight made it go down and if I used this method it might work or is it because of my hairtype
@xMohawk yea its suposedly suposed to aline the crytls and dry the hairspray at the same time
Use Aqua-Net hairspray, it works pretty much the same as Got2B hairspray but it costs only
2 DOLLARS!!
@WelcomeToSF
a straightener does the same job as blow drying it?
Hey! whatsup, I'll definately try! its just being in school takes up a lot of my time! but ill make the video for you!
i have curly hair and it kinda sucks for this type of haircut when i do the mohawk i wet it with water completely and then use a towel to remove some water but when i put the gel it stays ok for a minute then it starts falling to the sides and it looks crappy i never used hair spray or the dryer im going to try to it and should i wet my hair a lot??
(:! THANKS CLAIRE! I appreciate it (:

LMAO its all cool!

Mowhawks are the best.
oooohhhh that looks pretty good!! nice!! i actually just uploaded a new video with all the different styles you could maybe do with a mohawk, maybe you could take a look and give me more ideas?
