Thank you so much! I’m soon to be a sophomore and I am enrolled in NJROTC, so I’m glad this video mentioned that 😂. I really want to become a Naval Aviator and I feel like the Naval Academy is the perfect opportunity for that. However, I’m pretty lost on my journey but this video has really helped me. Thanks once again!
Thank you for the advice! I watched the whole video feeling more confident about wanting to go to the USNA. I was there for my sister as she went through the process of applying to USNA. She will be class of 2029🎉❤. Hopefully, with the effort I will be applying throughout my years of high school, i’ll be class of 2031!!
Thank you so much Phil and Julia. My daughter is in her third year at the USNA. I thought I knew everything after helping my daughter got into USNA. The JROTC nomination is shocking. Best of luck to both of you. Go Navy Beat Army!
Thank you for this great video. My daughter is a junior. We don’t have JROTC here where we live in NY. So instead she is in civil air patrol. Do you know if there is a civil air patrol notation?
Good stuff! Question for you... My son attends a private school whose lacrosse team is one of the best in the nation. As such, he hasn't made varsity yet. Not even in his junior year. He did become the team capt for the JV team, but.... Will this be detrimental to his application.
Are the 2 years of language a required thing? Im a Junior (Hope to be a pilot) 3.5 GPA, Extracurriculars, Volunteer work but never took language as it was not required at my school. I took Metal and Woodshop and did Digital art both as a student and Teacher assistant. Would I be competitive?
You need to show that you can lead since that is kinda the point a USNA I am in the same boat as you (pardon the pun) and my advice is to start a club of anything of your choice or start a movement or fundraiser to show that you can be a good leader.
You just need a nomination to apply it doesn’t matter which type, however the nomination you have controls what slate you compete against. For instance, if you have a senate nomination you compete to win that slate. It is the same for every nomination type. So apply to all the nominations available it will give you more chances to win your slate and thus gain admissions. If you aren’t strong though it won’t matter how many nominations you have and vice versa, if you are super strong lots get in with one nomination but why not try to help your application out.

And to answer your first question, you do not need 2 years of foreign language
Does each nomination hold equal weight/prestige when applying? For example, is a senator nomination much better than a JROTC nomination?
