I'm a native English speaker trying to learn French and Spanish. I wanted to watch this without analyzing on my own to see just how much we English speakers eat our letters to speak faster just like other languages do. We eat a lot more than I thought. This tells me why I should be more patient with myself in learning French and Spanish.

You can't imagine how useful are for me your lessons about fast speech . When I'm trying to have a conversation with English speakers, , I feel myself so embarrassed to ask them to repeat or I'm not able to respond to theirs questions. In my opinion you pointed out the important problem which is impending me to comprehend what is saying to me, but also to enjoy the movies or series at T.V. The great benefit I get from yours lessons,is to use my hearing, what I cannot find in books. I'm greatful to you for teaching me.

Yes really they are very useful it's just not about English learning actually to understand what the speaker is speaking that's the only obstacle I face everywhere

Yes it's true.... Actually I'm from Indonesia and I still learn English by my self.... Only RUclips that makes my teacher as long as I learn English.... And it's correct that sometimes I can't understand if someone speak very fast....
6:11 I didn't pay attention before, but in games when a dialog is going on the endings of some words are often written like cookin', smokin', etc. it makes more sense now, thank you

Thanks for the practice. I was telling all the video in out loud, making shadowing and whit explication, It was so usfull.

I think that, more than connected speech, it's phrases, sayings, and slang that make it challenging for non-native speakers to understand native speakers. Another thing is that language evolves over time, and the younger generation speaks differently from the older generation. So for an (older) ESL student, it can be even more difficult to comprehend younger people. Let me put it this way: older TV series like Frasier are way easier to follow compared to some of the newer ones on Netflix.
People who study portuguese understand easily what young Brazilians say because they have reduced the whole portuguese vocabulary to only two words: "bagulho" and "tá ligado"

I taught English many years ago to non-English speakers. I told them spoken American English was a string of consonants with a slight pause at the period.

Can U pls make more advanced vocab videos
also for the pronunciation video, can u send videos regarding l sound esp if it's after consonant. for ex, blind, clarify etc bec I have trouble pronouncing it. also adverb with end in tly for example perfectly, correctly, promptly etc bec when I pronounce it, it's like coh rek ti lee or coh rek lee instead of coh rekt lee. what's best way to pronounce adverb ending with ly esp where there's consonant before ly
