Sleep well Sweet Prince. For those of us that adored you in your craft and as a man, will always feel a piece of our hearts rejoice in having you in our lives. Moreover, bringing us back to our own childhoods and into adulthood,a piece of our hearts will forever be broken in sorrow that someone so divine has gone. We rejoice in the time spent and weep for the loss. lovely tribute...as he was loved in life by so many..we will love him until we are no more.
Even though Jonathan had no use for memorials and could care less about "how to be remembered", there still remains this need for expressing our genuine grief at his death. For some of us he simply meant so very much. This phenomenon of love for him is very real and you Patricia certainly understand its profound nature and have captured the breadth of human dignity that so humbly yet magnificently was Jonathan Frid. I am sitting here just crying and can't stop. I know Jonathan would not want us to cry but I just miss him so much. I love you Jonathan, Rest In Peace Sweet man.
Made me cry too. Very beautiful tribute. I recently lost my fiancé (my man) in mid-August of this year. We were huge DS fans of the original show and always dressed up as Barnabas and Josette for Halloween. We never won any contests although we tried. I miss Jonathan Frid a lot. I got the chance of a lifetime to meet him in Crawsfordsville, Indiana when he preformed his reader theatre program. Jonathan was very gracious, kind and sweet! I was so impressed that my (then new boyfriend) and I planned on seeing him in September 2001, unfortunately, that's when 9/11 happened and we didn't go. We had the tickets paid in advance and I scrapbooked those and tried to refund my boyfriend the cost of his ticket, but he told me not to worry about it. So Dark Shadows is what brought us together. It was the tragic, yet romantic hero of vampire Barnabas Collins and the haunting sad love story of Josette Dupres that kept me and my would- be fiancé talking about that storyline of the original series for years to follow. Sadly, my fiancé passed away two days after what would have been 18 years together. I weep nonstop for "my Barnabas". Jonathan Frid made an awesome vampire who was capable of love, romance, courtly old fashioned charm, and encompassed humanity as well. But my fiancé and I caught the original show when it aired on Sci-Fi (before it changed to sci fy) back in the mid/late 90s. Kudos to the uploaded of this well made tribute. I enjoyed it and I'm sure my fiancé would have liked it too. Peace be with you Jonathan Frid. Your fans will always love ❤️ you!!!
This was exceptionally wonderful. Truly one of the loveliest and much touching tributes I have seen in a long time. Thank you for sharing this -- a fine actor and icon not to mention a lovely gentleman who deserves to be remembered.
To be humble is to simply be oneself without artifice. I feel Jonathan created characters that came from a truth within because Jonathan lived his life measured by certain standards of truth within his own soul without artifice. Your love for him is expressed so eloquently in this video. It also speaks for those of us who are simply too torn up at his death to do anything right now but cry. Thank you. Artintruth Redux
Your most beautiful video to date, created from the saddest of occasions. Your choice of poetry the most perfect and the most true with the most heartrending poignancy. Victorianartist
I was 8 when Dark Sahdows ended, my mother used to watch it and have only recently found it again thanks to dvd. I only found out Frid died a couple of weeks ago but the good thing is he will live on through Dark Shadows- this is a cult show and the greatness in that is cult shows and the actors in them are always remembered.
This was such a beautiful tribute. The quotations, and verses you used were so beautiful... my heart💔 ached. Thank you. I only hope Mr. Frid realized how much he was loved. He often stated he didn't understand all the notoriety, and love of the "Barnabas " character, but it was his portrayal of the intelligent, thoughtful, romantic,Vampire in love... that stole all our💕 hearts. He was one of a kind !

Death date is actually Saturday the 14th per a post to Facebook by Don Frid. The family even had some confusion at first, but the hospital confirmed the Saturday date. Very beautiful, I love how you used all phases of his life. How I will miss him. cactusblue60
Artintruth Redux, I’m very touched if my personal epitaph to Mr. Frid moved you to write your deeply thoughtful and empathetic response. I’m sure your words are inspired by your own feelings for this unique and beloved gentleman, who transcended the screen and engaged our hearts, as evidenced by the collective mourning via this virtual community. I thank you for your compassion. I wanted to share more thoughts with you; alas your account is closed.
At an earlier point in my life I felt relatively assured that Barnabas would NEVER kick the bucket...so I felt safe in proclaiming that I'd never grow up while Barnabas was alive (he-he, clever me! Like Barnabas, I could retain my youth forever!)..Well! So...Now...None of these folks recall my later change to say it's QUENTIN'S life I'm gauging for my purposes...not Barnabas! Now I can't sleep...I have all these strange other-worldly sounds haunting my evenings...alas, I asked for it! goodbot3
