‘Io Capitano’: First English-language trailer for Matteo Garrone’s Venice competition title

- Pathé International has unveiled the first English-language trailer for Matteo Garrone’s buzzy coming-of-age adventure feature Io Capitano ahead of the film’s Sept. 6 premiere in Venice’s competition.
Pathé Films President Ardavan Safaee described the film shot in Senegal, Italy and Morocco as “an extraordinary project about two young Senegalese men who decide to leave their village to try out an adventure in Europe that deals with the difficulties of immigration.”
Told in Wolof and French, Io Capitano follows the two young men as they leave Dakar and set off on a contemporary Odyssey forcing them to confront the dangers of the desert, the horrors of the detention centers in Libya and the perils of the sea along the way.
I saw this now in Spain I got home now from cinema. It was excellent and all on wolof (and a tiny bit french ) with Spanish subtitles it was amazing. I cried. It was so gripping

This movie will inspire me and haunt me for the rest of my life! Brilliant use of the medium, amazing performances. Director, Matteo Garrone takes you on ajourney you will never forget.
Words can not say how incredible this film is. The rawness of discrimination and brutality that people still in this day and age face, simply for wanting equal rights and opportunities for a better future. This isn’t the past. This is happening right now, in this present moment.

I watched this movie at 28th international film festival of Kerala. (IFFK). Terrific movie. All the three shows were packed.
The life we don't experience is a fiction for most of us. Here let me say the life we don't experience is a movie for all of us. But that hurts a lot.
I wonder, why even now the whole world is running behind Hollywood craps , when outstanding movies like these dealing with human life are awailable from other countries.
Matteo as a director is undoubtedly above any Hollywood directors.
This movie excelled in all departments. Be it DOP, editing, music, makeup or whatever they had.
The places and emotions through which the movie took the audiance is beyond words.
This movie reminded me of the poem "Home" written by exceptionally talented poet Warsan Shire.

And then we should all be ashamed of ourselves not only that we let things like this happen but also that we refuse to treat migrants - who are often traumatized and dire need of humanity - with the respect any human deserves. Shame on all of us. We need to change things. We need to force politicians to take a stand and lend a helping hand. We will be fine. Our economies will be fine. There is enough money in the system. Migrants and refugees need to be treated with respect. Go and watch this movie. It's based on true stories.

I haven't seen it, only the trailer, but anything that enlarges our understanding of the hellish reality in which we now find ourselves augments our empathy and our determination to fight for peace, justice, equality reparation, and against the other horrors--the climate catastrophe--that define our historical moment.

Very good drama movie which shows how immigrants insist to leave their own country and reach " The Dreamland (EU)" , but this movie doesn't show why do they want to leave their country?
