Haha we all have our own "hierarchy" of fish so I had a good laugh about how you caught a snook and got all super excited. Meanwhile you catch 2 tarpon and just compare them to skipjack. Great, fun video all the same! 👍
I really enjoy your roadside fishing in the Everglades. Not only do we not know what might eat your bait, but they are doubly exciting because we never know what might eat you.
Ha! Dude I’ve been in Florida for a year now and fish a couple times a week and have only caught 1 tarpon. You wrote it off and I’d be freaking out! Snook are my favorite. By far I do cherish a snook!
Went to this exact spot Saturday with live bait I netted on Turner Rd. Water was down and there was a lot of Canoe/kayak traffic. Skipped back towards Naples, picked up the Gar King and hooked into a bunch of Mayan cichlids. Great thing about Florida is if one bridge isn't on the next one probably is. Fun video.
The best fishing channel on RUclips! We can all tell that the views are not the end-all be-all when making your videos, but more so the fishing itself. Very wholesome content. Thanks man
John, we love the fact that you do your videos the way YOU like. No "real" supporter here will be upset if you didn't use his or her lures on your videos. Because it's not about that! It's about watching a very humble guy enjoying his time on the water fishing! A guy that appreciates all God's creatures and the natural beauty of this earth. KEEP BEING YOU BROTHER!
I’ve been living in Florida my whole life and I recently got really serious about fishing, 2021 I caught my first red my first trout and my first peacock. I hooked into a few tarpon, but I’ve never caught a snook. I would’ve been ecstatic to catch the two that you caught. UPDATE: caught my first snook the other day on a Rapala Yee Haw!!!
You want to catch snook, Buy a red/white 52m11 mirror lure. Put a ring swivel on it then tie to it. Use it at night. when you cast it, throw it against the tide and reel it in slow as you can. If their are snook around they will get it. I have caught 1000's of snook using this.
@@kentwilliams1653 I’ve heard people talk about this lure, so you do like a walk the dog motion with it? Because I’ve been using a red and white yozuri
@@joejoerobinson8724 if it's live shrimp I put the hook threw its tail. If you find the fake shrimp make sure the hook is in the middle of the tail. Best to use the fake shrimp very early in the morning or at 5 evening 👍
When I first started watching you were still working a full time job, I liked your channel because you obviously loved fishing no matter how big the fish were, now with almost 100K more people subscribed you have not lost that love of fishing, no matter whether they are big or little or how hard you have to work to do it. That is why so many people are here, you love what you do and it is infectious.
What a great trip!! Congratulations on the snook and tarpon. Tarpon are my unicorn.. seven years living in Florida and although I had hooked into many, I never landed one. So, even those micro tarpon are gold in my book, they are such a cool fish. Thanks for always sharing.
Especially Love your travel videos. Thanks for being one of the few fishing channels I can watch every single video and not get tired of the host's "personality."
Fishing the backwaters the little Tarpon are a ball on a fly rod. You want some great fishing do like a friend of mine did. Paddle the 100 mile canoe run camping and fishing all the way to Flamingo. Then at Flamingo camp and fish back to Everglades city. One direction can be along the Gull and the other inland. I like to go from Everglades to Broad River and back , making a loop run.
Florida has some really awesome waterways like these on this video. Here in Dunnellon Florida we have freshwater rivers running right through town. It's really cool. Right down the road is Yankeetown. Crystal River a ways further. Great saltwater fishing there!! Good luck everyone!!
I love all of your videos but I really loved this one. What an amazing place. I love watching you explore and catch fish in so many different states. When I can’t fish (because it’s winter in Tennessee) I watch your videos and they literally make me feel like I’m there. Keep it up and keep exploring. So great.
You will never know how much I enjoy your videos. I’m currently home bound with a feeding tube and I’m not sure if I will ever get back to fishing again. Thanks
Great video from a beautiful body of water. I can hear the gratitude in your voice! I like that you get into the nooks and crannies that many don’t even look at. Thanks!
Glad you got to experience my childhood to college fishing. We did the best for large Snook with Mirr-o-lures and skipping them under the mangroves 3-5 feet. Next time you’re down try Port of the Islands. Put in at their marina and fish what’s called the “S” turn. If you can time the tide right it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. We’ve caught some big snook close to marina where the fancy houses are around the rich people’s dock. You’ll also catch some Redfish and trout. Never had any bad experiences with big gators. They usually haul butt when they see humans. Manatee will swim right up to the boat and check you out. That’s always fun. Glad you got down to the Glades and caught some fish!
That first area you fished took me back a few ( quite a few) years. Reminds me of my uncle Bob he loved to fish , but when he moved to Florida he became a finatic about it. He shared your excitement and practically lived in his John boat ( no pun intended) happy to catch anything , but was partial to large mouth bass. Loved to fish wish him, but didn't care much for the gators much.
Slide under that bridge, go through the mangrove tunnels and hit some open water small ponds. But have to use the long stick thing, not the pedal drive.
Hey John. It’s like we are right there with you on the adventure! Great to put yourself in places that are unfamiliar and even a bit scary feeling to be a true adventure and catching different species of fish just enhances the video for us all I’m sure! Thanks for sharing!
That`s the good thing about S. Fl. Snook & Tarpon go so far back into fresh water, i used to fish a lake called Crystal Lake, i would see Tarpon rolling about a hundred yards from the shore, its all the underground springs. I`v caught Bass less than 2 blocks from the Ocean. thanks for the vids
Great day in Florida ! Love the fact that we can go on your exploration adventures with you. I was waiting to see a big snake up in some of that overgrowth. LOL ! That snook though ! Thanks for the adventure. Randy B.
Baby tarpon. Very good sign for the future. The alligators don’t really mess with you, just curious. However, the crocodiles in the area tend to be a little more aggressive.
Great fishing like always💯 at the end of the day don’t forget that this is your channel and your life so you do what you want to do and what you have to do👍🏽.
Just keep doing what you are doing. Great content for those of us that like to fish away from the maddening crowd. 😄 I had several bass boats in my time. The most fun I had was fishing out of my canoe in small lakes and ponds. Kayak’s like yours were not around back then. Makes me want to get one and go fishing. Cheers!
"Is that a Tarpon or a shad, I thought they where hard to catch" ... yuck there slimy like a skip jack" lol so funny. Thanks for not editing I think a bunch of Tarpon enthusiasts just fainted. I just discovered your channel great stuff.
Enjoyed your adventure in Florida. First time I'd seen a Tarpon or a Snook?! I'm sure I've heard of them, but I've never fished in Florida. Great video John! Thanks!
I've fished the Glades all my life in a 14foot jonboat.. Gators r super scared of humans..when they get 2 close to me..I whip the water with my rod n they disappear like a fart in a hurricane..happy fishing
Ha, tht's a baby Tarpon. Cool, you caught a nice Snook. Glad you are enjoying my area. Fishing especially from a Kayak is great fun down here. That second place is looking pretty good. Turners I know but not sure where you are now. Cool, second Snook. Yep, a Mayan Cichlid. Glad you had fun down here. I've also got the Old Town 120 AutoPilot.
Great video, you are brave to go out there on a Kayak. If fished the canals south of South Bay Fla from the banks. and Lake Okeechobee from boat . Their are some big gators in those waters, and snakes the could swallow a man whole. Anyway that was a great adventure, God Bless
I would be so hesitant to kayak those waters! I admire you going, though! I’d like to think I would go, too, but my butt would be pinched tight enough to cut rebar.
You're much braver than I am? So Glad God watches over you. I would never fish anywhere near or close to an alligator 🐊 or even the thought of an alligator. I had problems fishing off the banks with my husband because of the snakes. I enjoy watching John, you brighten up my day have a blessed day keep on fishing buddy.
Great content as always my guy.. definitely lil tarpons.. I live down here and trust me when I tell you.. it may look 3ft deep.. but can easily be 7 to 10.. keep grindin cousin
At 82, I still enjoy fishing! Only difference is that I'm fishing from my recliner via your video!
LOL

You're living the Dream man..! You've motivated me to finally buy a kayak and get out fishing more this year! Thanks 🤩
Especially Love your travel videos. Thanks for being one of the few fishing channels I can watch every single video and not get tired of the host's "personality."
I’m a new subscriber, I really have enjoyed the whole Florida trip series. Thank you for honoring the Lord with scripture.. I’m watching for new vids…

Exciting fishing trip! The white ibis was gorgeous. Thank you for brightening a dreary, wet, cold day.
Tarpon and Snook ....I am missing home for sure after watching this video....Looks like you had a good time and the joy on your face was priceless
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL MAN! not trying to be a fake pro, just a regular down to earth guy trying to catch some fish. keep doing your thing!!
As usual, I vicariously enjoyed another fishing kayak adventure. Great scenery and great video content!!!
My Family and I was there December 28th 2021 in the exact location you are fishing. We went on a guided tour of Turner Creek. It was a great time!

Fun time from the kayak, I have not had much luck bank fishing here in Florida. Glad you had luck. Thanks for sharing John.
Get a cheap sit on top kayak and add accessories as you go.

Get a county fishing chart and read it. It is like a tide chart. Each fish it shows says do not eat. The waters are contaminated around the Everglades
