You can spot my wife and I in a few of the still images. We are the ones wearing the Save Mr. Toad shirts with a Haunted Mansion style tombstone on the back. The epitaph reads "Here Lies Dear Old Mr. Toad. He Hit Some Pooh on The Road." The closing of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at WDW's Magic Kingdom was a sad day for me. Our family first visited WDW shortly after it opened. I was ten years old and Mr Toad's Wild Ride made quite an impression on me. That last day for the ride was bizarre. We could see and sense Disney's security all around us and the feeling of sadness among Toad's fans was palpable.
Another one I knew you might do soon. Though here's a fun fact: When Mr. Toad got replaced by Winnie the Pooh, it's a whole lot of irony since the authors of the books, A.A.Milne, and Kenneth Grahame were close friends, and in fact had the same illustrator, Ernest H Shephard.

My favorite Mr. Toad experience was when my brother was about ten and I was a teenager. Our family had early admission for Disneyland one morning of our trip, so I took my brother over to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride immediately. We were the first on the ride, and the cast members let us on and sent us on our way. Almost right away, we realized that they hadn't yet turned on the sound. So my brother and I were alone on the silent ride, listening to the set pieces clack. It truly did feel like hell at the end. 10/10, absolutely recommend
My wife and I rode Space Mountain many years ago and there were teenagers in the car ahead of us. Their arms and legs were hanging all out of the car during the chain lift. The automatic "keep all hands and feet inside the car" warning was repeated several times, then a real human repeated it much more sternly. Still no action from the teens. The ride stopped, lights came on and security appeared from nowhere and yanked the kids out. After about a 10 minute delay, we were finally sent, but with the lights still on. You know those steel bars that seem really close on some of the turns and drops? They ARE really close! I don't recommend putting your arms up on that ride. Since we had to ride it with the lights on, they whooshed us straight back to the front of the line for an immediate re-ride with the lights off!

Probably because it's cheaper and easier to close a ride down and replace it with another than expanding. Expansion means that you have to landscape the new section, pave it, add planters, lay in new plumbing and electric lines, etc. A lot of effort for just one ride, effort better saved for adding a new land or expanding an existing one. I remember being very, very young, in the mid ‘80s, in line for this ride for HOURS due to technical difficulties, and our family befriended a British family ahead of us in line. I got a crush on one of their daughters and we had a nice conversation while we waited, seemingly forever. The ride was fun, as was the Peter Pan ride that ultimately replaced it. But I’ll always think of that British family and the insanely long wait time whenever I think of this ride.
Marry Poppins would have been a fun ride. I bet it would have staid up too and remained popular. Maybe gotten a revamp for Poppins Returns. Don't know if the other options would have lasted. I went on the Mr Toad ride at Magic Kingdom. One of few we road twice I remember as a Kid thinking the Track A and Track B thing happened because I was in full control of the vehicle. I thought I was struggling with difficult controls, choosing a path and avoiding obstacles. I remember being convinced that because of the car and the Weasels that the Mr Toad replacement was Who Framed Rodger Rabbit.
All of the people posting about how you're sad that you never got to ride it: don't fret. You can still ride Mr Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland in California.
I never got to personally ride Magic Kingdom's versions, and while the updated Disneyland version still exists, I'm still bitter I'll never get to experience either side...nor MK's Snow White for that matter. Bah humbug.
You finally followed up on the Stitch book storyline! Really enjoyed this episode. Hearing that we could've had a Sleepy Hollow ride though makes me sad. It would've been interesting to have two parts of the same "movie" (the package film era is a strange one) on different coasts.
Glad you enjoyed the conclusion to the Stitch book storyline! Was afraid people would be confused who hadn't seen Alice/Toontown, but also thought it'd be fun for those who had :)
Fantastic job on this video and a beautiful tribute to the original dark ride! Very enchanting and surreal. This was one of my favorite rides at Disneyland when I visited there years ago! Truly a unique experience and overall story!
@@pierrebegley2746 in Disneyland California we still have the Snow White ride, it’s just been changed from Snow White’s Scary Adventures to Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
I went on it in 2001 and 2006. I've never seen the movie, but I know how she trusts strangers with free food. I got to meet Snow and the queen in 2001. I asked Snow if she still had that brown dress from the start of the ride. I really liked that dress for some reason. And I asked the queen how she went back to normal after the dwarfs pushed her off the cliff as an ugly hag.
This video brought back so many memories! As a child, we often visited my great-aunt in Lake Wales, and went to Disney World while we were there. Mr. Toad was one of my favorite rides. Just seeing those beer mugs spinning made me smile! I was unhappy when I heard it was being replaced, but I now live on the West Coast, so Disneyland is my family’s park now...where we can still enjoy Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Thanks for the wonderful video. Another great epic in the Stitch Saga as well!
I love Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland (I was too young to ride it at WDW) and I've always been fascinated with the history of both versions -- so glad you made this video covering the whole thing!!
I only watched The Wind in the Willows animated movie for the first time a few years ago, after growing up with the ride at Disneyland. I was shocked that Mr. Toad never gets flattened by a train and goes to Hell in the film. Why did they make that choice for the ride?
My family participated in a few weekly “Toad-in”s when I was little, a lot of the people in those photos are my parents’ friends. (IRC chat rooms also played a sizeable part in spreading the word and organizing protests.) Then I grew up and I ended up working at Snow White’s Scary Adventures on the day it closed and seeing the other side of things. (There were a handful of protesters leading up to it, but day-of, it was mostly just a large crowd of people who spent the day just riding it over and over, including an autistic little boy who had ridden it thousands of times because it was his favorite ride.)
This brought back 15:24 childhood memories for me. We went to Disney World in Florida twice in my youth. I completely forgot about the 2 cars starting on 2 different tracks... and "crashing." I guess I was oblivious to the going to "heck" part.
My first time at Disney, i was so excited to ride Mr Toad, only to be told that they had closed the ride a week before. I was one truly disappointed little girl. Thank you for showing me what it looked like!
The Magic Kingdom Wild Ride was one of my mom's favorites when she went as a little girl. She didn't keep up with the media buzz surrounding its closure, so you can imagine her disappointment when our family went to Disney World in '06 and found it was no longer there.
This brings back childhood memories. I grew up in Orange County back in the 60s and went to Disneyland dozens of times ( Remember the old ticket books with A,B,C,D, and E tickets ??? ) Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was probably my favorite ride .
I love that this ride is so popular, because there isn't a big Mr Toad/Wind in the Willows fandom out there keeping it going, it's just an awesome ride. I'd still go on it as an older kid, one of the things you go to Magic Kingdom for. It's a just a descent into madness that ends in possibly jail but always hell. How many Disney rides freaking kill you and send you to hell?
My first few rides on _Mr. Toad's Wild Ride_ were just fun, but a couple of years later, I found the train thing to be scary and would have to close my eyes. It wasn't until I looked for the effect (the light of the "train" had turned off and I could see that it was just a light hanging from a track in the ceiling as we went by) that I was comfortable with that part again. This simple effect was very well done. All-in-all I really enjoyed the ride (track B I felt was much better than track A) and I do miss it. I'll have to see about getting myself back to Disneyland (been there all of one time).
Mr Toads Wild Ride at Disneyland will always hold a place in my heart as the ride I puked in front of during the first trip to Disneyland that I remember. And remember literally nothing else from that trip.
Tbh, most people these days mostly remember this film for The Sleepy Hollow segment and apparently that seems to be the segment EVERYONE tends to like positively than the Wind in the Willows segment due to the darker themes and the Headless Horseman, much like how The Mickey and the Beanstalk segment from Fun and Fancy Free was well known instead of Bongo.
@@EChacon As much as I love Mr. Toad and his wild and wacky antics.....the Headless Horseman had freaking Bing Crosby. How was he supposed to compete with that?
@@IWasaTeenageTeenWolf Like I said before MOST people only remember this movie for the Sleepy Hollow segment due to the dark themes, the Headless Horseman and Bing Crosby doing the singing and narration just like how many people only remember and talk about Fun and Fancy Free for the Mickey and the Beanstalk segment.
@@EChacon Maybe for those who have actually seen the movie, but for everyone else (which I assume is most people), I'd argue it's the opposite. Disney has done a good job of making sure Mr Toad hasn't been forgotten thanks to not only this dark ride but also cameos in stuff like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and House of Mouse. Meanwhile, Sleepy Hollow is a lot more difficult to market since the most memorable part of the short is a guy being chased through a forest to his death, not to mention there are other adaptations competing for its attention (such as the Tim Burton movie and the episode of Wishbone, the latter of which was how I was introduced to the tale)
@@otaking3582 To each their own. Plus during the 70th anniversary of the film only released a CD audio book of Disney's Sleepy Hollow.
Growing up in Florida my first time at Disney was in 1973 & right away Mr.Toad was one of my favorites & was disappointed when they closed it. Though next year I'm going to California & we are planning on going to Disney Land for the first time so I'll be able to ride the original at least.

Toad is such a huge part of my childhood. It was the first ever Disney movie I saw and I always wanted to go on Mr Toad’s Wild Ride but I haven’t been able to get to Disneyland or The Magic Kingdom since they’re so far away from me 😢
I won’t lie.... I wish we had got to experience a Sleepy Hollow ride. That short always terrified me as a kid and I can only imagine given the Disney level of detail in their attractions just how immersive and spooky it would’ve been.
I had a habit of taking tons of pictures while on almost every ride when my friends and I went to Disneyland in the 90's.While I'd never waste my time doing that now,I'm incredibly glad I did back then.☺️I have a fantastic collection of all these photos in a huge album.😁
Very informative!!! That entrance to Hell where you go through the devil's mouth was removed at some point (maybe during the early '60s redo?) only to come back in three dimensions in '83 . I've always wondered why it was taken out? .......... I'm really sorry I never went on the WDW version with two tracks. I assumed it was a replica of the one at DL.
Good job, might be the first video I have ever seen you do, that Tim Tracker, the DIS or theme park history have not done, normally a week after the other sites

I've heard so much about Mr. Toad' s Ride and the film with the fiddle playing and fast driving Toad. Another informative and entertaining video. Keep it up!
One of my greatest disappointments in visiting WDW (from the west coast) back in the day was that the two-track Toad attraction was already closed. THANK YOU for preserving the history of an almost-memory.
Yesterworld, it would be really cool if you could do an interview with the guy who spearheaded the protests and made the SaveToad website. It'd be very interesting to hear his thoughts on the whole experience: as well as on all the changes that have occurred at WDW since then.
I vaguely remember WDW Toad ride, but am very glad Disneyland still has theirs and hopefully it is not going anywhere. It is a Walt opening day attraction there and iconic to that Park.
i remember my parents took me and my brother to disney world in the late 70's and got to ride this and some of the other rides and shows, like the the matterhorn, the jungle land safari, the tropical bird show, the race track ride( similar to a big go kart race) dont remember the name of the ride, the haunted mansion with the mirrors that showed ghost characters in between you and the other rider, dumbo, the country bears show not sure if that was the name of it either and in the late 80's got to ride on the 20,000 leagues under the sea ride again in florida and if i remember from my earlier trip they named the different lots and had trams to the park
WDW Magic Kingdom is low in the "classic" dark ride department these days. Peter Pan and Pooh are the only "classic" dark rides remaining. Little Mermaid doesn't count for this because it's in a totally different style. In my opinion, they need to bring back a reimagined version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (they could do so much with this idea) and maybe one other (Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, etc...). I think having at least 3 or 4 dark rides anchored in Disney's ultimate classic films is really what makes the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland park "magical."

I got a crush on one of their daughters and we had a nice conversation while we waited, seemingly forever. The ride was fun, as was the Peter Pan ride that ultimately replaced it.
But I’ll always think of that British family and the insanely long wait time whenever I think of this ride.
That's so sweet. I love memories like that.
@@katelynbrown98 Thanks! :) Yeah, me too. Memories like that have a lovely way of staying with us.
Snow deserved more attention. At least they replaced Toad with another ride, they replaced Snow with a empty building.
Mr. Toad is my favorite ride in Fantasyland. Recently got to go on the ride again and all the nostalgia just came back
This was the first Disneyland ride I ever went on. I was 3 years old and it made me cry.
I remember being convinced that because of the car and the Weasels that the Mr Toad replacement was Who Framed Rodger Rabbit.
sasamichan Agreed...
Along with a Sleeping Beauty dark ride!
At 6:06, that's Tony Curtis, who filmed "40 Pounds of Trouble" at Disneyland in 1962.
All of the people posting about how you're sad that you never got to ride it: don't fret. You can still ride Mr Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland in California.
At least that's still there.
I never got to personally ride Magic Kingdom's versions, and while the updated Disneyland version still exists, I'm still bitter I'll never get to experience either side...nor MK's Snow White for that matter. Bah humbug.
Yeah that's true. I know that's still there too. I love it a bunch!
Alexandre Phaneuf élève They never left!
Yes it does!
The destruction of Snow White for a meet and greet has been the absolute worst
Magic Kingdom has enough meet and greets! They could’ve just refurbish the ride with new effects!
It's thankfully still in Disneyland Paris. Not sure if it's anywhere else. But hopefully so.
@@pierrebegley2746 in Disneyland California we still have the Snow White ride, it’s just been changed from Snow White’s Scary Adventures to Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
Yeah I fought hard for that ride.
Love your channel, great content, keep up the great work!
6:18
Hey look! Nixon's got a cameo in the video! Still an interesting ride documentary.
My family participated in a few weekly “Toad-in”s when I was little, a lot of the people in those photos are my parents’ friends. (IRC chat rooms also played a sizeable part in spreading the word and organizing protests.)
Then I grew up and I ended up working at Snow White’s Scary Adventures on the day it closed and seeing the other side of things. (There were a handful of protesters leading up to it, but day-of, it was mostly just a large crowd of people who spent the day just riding it over and over, including an autistic little boy who had ridden it thousands of times because it was his favorite ride.)
I know Ben's story! My favorite ride as an autistic girl was Space Mountain.
That plug at the end to Nord was so damn smooth
The Magic Kingdom Wild Ride was one of my mom's favorites when she went as a little girl. She didn't keep up with the media buzz surrounding its closure, so you can imagine her disappointment when our family went to Disney World in '06 and found it was no longer there.
I love all these begining scenes with stitch they make the video that much better
Toad is one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. It still scares me til this day
This brings back childhood memories. I grew up in Orange County back in the 60s and went to
Disneyland dozens of times ( Remember the old ticket books with A,B,C,D, and E tickets ??? )
Mr.
I like the Beginning stitches grate escape that would make a great ride
I can't help but find this stuff so interesting!
Another splendid video!
I think it would be awesome to see a new Mr. Toad ride with a system similar to the famous "Wild Mouse" coaster model.

Your intros are amazing and they are so creative! Keep up the good work!
Your videos are always the best to watch!
Can you do a video on the history of The Little Mermaid attraction
White mermaids are so last millennium.
@@TiberianFiend Ginger mermaids.
Yeh that would be an interesting video I would wach it
I heard someone tried to that once, but got stopped by Chris Hanson and had to flee to Epcot
I guess I should mention that all of my experience was in Walt Disney World.
Great video, as always. That train scene always had me ducking, when I was a kid. It's a pretty good effect.
Your research and presentation is top notch. Great video!
I blame the weasels and their crooked contract.
Apparently Owl has a crooked contract too, if you know what I mean.
Mr Toads Wild Ride at Disneyland will always hold a place in my heart as the ride I puked in front of during the first trip to Disneyland that I remember. And remember literally nothing else from that trip.
Still bitter about Mr. Toad but at least I get to ride it once.... excellent transition into the Norred VPN sponsorship.
One of my favorite rides!! Sad it’s gone
At least it wasn't the Headless Horseman who stole Toad's spotlight.
But as I said before, EVERYONE tends react positively on the Sleepy Hollow segment than the Wind in the Willows segment from the movie due to the darker themes, the Headless Horseman, and Bing Crosby's singing and narration on this short, much like how The Mickey and the Beanstalk segment from Fun and Fancy Free was more well known than of Bongo.
I WANT TO GET OFF MR. TOAD'S WILD RIDE.
Come over to Disneyland California and see it yourself
Florida: I gotchu fam
YOU WILL STAY IM MR TOADS WILD RIDE FOREVER
Clever.
The quality of your videos are through the roof ! Another great one right here !!
“Disney was really emphasizing The Magic Kingdom as wholesome and politically correct”
*Splash Mountain has left the chat*
Now it's being replaced with Tiana.
Mr.Toad is one of my favorite movies
I treasure our Mr Toad’s in Anaheim. I would be heartbroken if we lost it. But at least Orlando still has the Country Bears & their PeopleMover. Great video🥂🌟
Toad is such a huge part of my childhood. It was the first ever Disney movie I saw and I always wanted to go on Mr Toad’s Wild Ride but I haven’t been able to get to Disneyland or The Magic Kingdom since they’re so far away from me 😢
To all the disneylanders laughing at us without mr toad, just keep in mind.....
You have no peoplemover
Or Carousel of Progress.
Lol
Or The original Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
yotsubafanfan yea fr
damn that hit harddddddd, but you aint wrong
Yester's stich voice is epic
Floridians: *weep over Mr. Toad*
Me: *laughs in Californian*
The hell scene is better there anyway. More detail.
Floridians: laughs in peoplemover
I won’t lie.... I wish we had got to experience a Sleepy Hollow ride. That short always terrified me as a kid and I can only imagine given the Disney level of detail in their attractions just how immersive and spooky it would’ve been.
President Pooh is the reason Mr. Toad is gone....China is all over the place
Are you really Kim Jong-Un?

Kim Jong-un SHUT IT!
I had a habit of taking tons of pictures while on almost every ride when my friends and I went to Disneyland in the 90's.While I'd never waste my time doing that now,I'm incredibly glad I did back then.☺️I have a fantastic collection of all these photos in a huge album.😁
Tony Curtis and Suzanne Pleshette cool! "40 lbs of Trouble"
wonderful movie, I saw it at age 6 going to disneyland became my obsession, I had to wait two decades for the dream to come true
*"Hey, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride."*
-Brodie Bruce
Great video, at 6:07 is that Tony Curtis? This and Peter Pan were my favorite Disneyland rides when I was a kid.
I rode this when I was in second grade and loved it. I was also obsessed with the wind in the willows at that time.
Good job, might be the first video I have ever seen you do, that Tim Tracker, the DIS or theme park history have not done, normally a week after the other sites
What if we were to close an original fantasyland ride? Ha ha ha just kidding
Unless...
This is a great, iconic dark ride. Cant we just appreciate it for what it is?
Also, some of the mounted heads from the trophy room were from It’s A Small World!
I grew up in Orlando and got to ride 20,000 Leagues a few times when I was REALLY young and Mr. Toad's a bunch of times throughout the 90s - I'm glad I got to ride them when I could! I'd like to check out Disneyland one day - among other things it'd be cool to ride their version of Mr. Toad
I've heard so much about Mr. Toad' s Ride and the film with the fiddle playing and fast driving Toad. Another informative and entertaining video. Keep it up!
Wait, so the ride is set in England?
But the railway crossing reads "Railroad"?
One of my greatest disappointments in visiting WDW (from the west coast) back in the day was that the two-track Toad attraction was already closed. THANK YOU for preserving the history of an almost-memory.
Yesterworld, it would be really cool if you could do an interview with the guy who spearheaded the protests and made the SaveToad website. It'd be very interesting to hear his thoughts on the whole experience: as well as on all the changes that have occurred at WDW since then.
Love the video and thanks for saving stitch!
I went to Disneyland for the first time last year and it was the first time in 20 years that I got to ride Mr. Toad and it made me so purely happy
I would really want to see a full version of Stitch’s song
Love Mr Toad!!! Its in my top 3 favorite rides! I would love to see it get an upgrade but its okay if they don't as long as it stays
I vaguely remember WDW Toad ride, but am very glad Disneyland still has theirs and hopefully it is not going anywhere. It is a Walt opening day attraction there and iconic to that Park.
The Stitch bits KILLED ME lolol
I so love The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Would have love for that ride to have been made.
i remember my parents took me and my brother to disney world in the late 70's and got to ride this and some of the other rides and shows, like the the matterhorn, the jungle land safari, the tropical bird show, the race track ride( similar to a big go kart race) dont remember the name of the ride, the haunted mansion with the mirrors that showed ghost characters in between you and the other rider, dumbo, the country bears show not sure if that was the name of it either and in the late 80's got to ride on the 20,000 leagues under the sea ride again in florida and if i remember from my earlier trip they named the different lots and had trams to the park
I still have the "motormania is not a crime" postcard on my fridge. RIP Toad Hall
The sun has set on the Toad Era. 🙁
You should do it's a small world next
I think the biggest improvement Disney made to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was removing Richard Nixon from the attraction 7:33
I BEEN ASKING ALL THEME PARK RUclipsR TO PLZ DO THE HISTORY OF KNOTT'S BERRY FRAM KINGDOM OF THE DINOSAURS AND I PRAY YALL DO ONE SOON. BUT LOVED THE CHANNEL LOVED DISNEY. AND ITS GLOURIS HISTORY.
Marshan Thomas Same here! Along with Jurassic Park: The Ride/Jurassic World: The Ride and even Countdown to Extinction/DINOSAUR!
I remember riding this as a kid. I’m sad it’s gone!
