Great video! We use and love the JBL Eon one compact for small-medium wedding ceremonies and remote gigs. It's the only battery powered PA we could find that has 48V phantom power for a condenser mic (used to mic our voices & acoustic instruments) + the USB DC out to power our wireless mic receiver for the officiant. Very similar setup to yours. Nice and compact w/ quick setup & teardown. Sometimes I wish it was a bit louder, but the overall convenience is incredible. The app is impressive - great EQ & effects. Wireless mixing is great.
Can you tell me more about the officiant mic? I have a battery-powered speaker and the Rode GoII with a lapel mic but I get a lot of feedback I'm really stressing out about this I have no clue how to fix it can you tell me what you use?
@@therookiefisherman5234 the newer EV Everse 8 has better EQ, but the problem sounds like your mic. Rode makes mics for video, you might have better luck with a mic made specifically for audio (Sennheiser, Shure, Audio Technica, etc.)
Wow the USB out on the JBL speaker is seriously a game changer!! I didn’t know any of the battery powered speakers had that feature. I was planning to have a separate battery pack for the mics but this is a great option. Great video
I have been doing this exact set up for the last couple seasons and it’s amazing. Downside I discovered was that the mic pre-amps in the speaker are not good enough for mics to get loud enough without distortion. This can be solved with the use of a small mixer like the Yamaha mg6. Another part is if you are using a second one, sometimes they break each other for some unknown reason. I am not sure why, but they interact with the other and one will actually shut down and become inoperable for a certain amount of time. JBL needs to fix this because it totally cost me a refund for a customer when I set it up in two spots that were less than 50 feet from eachother in line of sight but needed two separate areas of sound. I ended up having to bag the downed speaker and bring my main with a jacket for back up to those areas and my sennheiser transmitter to the JBL and direct line in to the main. Now I only bring one and use the second As back up but right now I cannot confidently recommend the two JBL setup for these.
Just to clarify, most times the pre-amps for the mic are solid in small uses. But if you want to get more volume with less clip/distortion, a small mixer is highly recommended.
Nice setup. My only concern is the Bluetooth. I don't trust it for something as important as a wedding ceremony. I've heard too many horror stories of the Bluetooth not working or dropping out during a ceremony when the bride is walking down the aisle.
I use the Mackie Thump Go. Love the sound. I do have to use a jackery for the wireless mic base. Not and issue, but would be nice for less to pack and carry. I almost bought the Everse 8. Awesome speaker. I didn't know the JBL could also be used to provide power.
Looks amazing! My only concern is with the bluetooth range.. Once you get a bunch of people in the room with phones, have you had any issues with signal drop?
@@SamJahshan Yes, that is why I said he would be in the back with the speaker. Bluetooth works best, line of sight. I haven't had a drop out close up and I referenced the mics for no possible interference from them. I did have someone trying to pair with the JBL and I declined it. Once paired with your device no problem.
Very clear instructional video! Thank you Sir Josh. I just purchased the Eon One compact and tried to use it in a large ballroom directly in between 2 JBL 715s. I put it in the middle on the riser (for the wedding party) and ran a 3 pin cable daisy-chained from the left side speaker. There was a Polynesion dance troop performance and I thought it helped fill the room. It was terrific during the dance troupe performance but it became a bit distorted as I increased the overall volume for the party dance set which followed. Any suggestions to prevent that distortion in the future will be grately appreciated! Sincerely, Top 10 Portland DJ Dan
BIG question Josh! We have the exact same cable in cart at the Sweetwater page. But it specs for AKG systems. Called Sweetwater and they confirmed it just for AKG. They said it "probably" 'could' work with the Shure BLX 88! (We have the exact same one that you have and two Compacts for Church) but they're not responsible if it's compatible or not! Any recommendations or confirmations our way would be so helpful!!! Thanks Man!!!
I would have loved to see it in action. My issue is when the bride and groom are in front of me they stand in front of the signal and block the line of site.
For me…Bluetooth still makes me nervous especially for the most important part of the day. If I screw up that bridal entrance song-I’ll probably be judged the rest of the event.

I’ve been using that Speaker for 2 years. I love it. Plus I use a the small Numark DJ2Go. I love it.
I didn't know that Mikie, me too. A lot of us DJs like this speaker for the long life of the battery too.

Love simple ceremony setup , great stuff
Thank you Josh, Your video was very helpful. Much appreciate it 🙏

Just have your mic receiver output at line level…
@@hoostineFL I'm using Rode wireless go II as microphones. With output at line level you mean setting the receiver to 0dB ??
great tip on the voltage upgrade cable, i didnt know they had such an animal
Would this work for a solo singer with backing tracks- in a small pub. Say 50-100.
Only if people are relatively quiet. I think in your case, you would need 2 JBL eon one compact.

No issues for me but I understand that fear!
Never trust in BT, NEVER. Use a properly cable. BT is for domestic purposes only.
Great video. I like your setup. What app do you use to play music?
For the hand held mic why din't you use a wireless microphone transmitter/receiver? and for the lapel, a rode?
I own a Bose S1 battery powered speaker since 2019. My microphones are also battery powered. No need to drain the power from the speaker.
Is it true that the app is hard to connect?

Where can I order that speaker case? Thanks
Nice Job 👍🏻
What's the program on the iPad? Is that with the jbl?
Yes JBL Eon app. only works with the speaker.
Great information.
Thank you
Glad that works for you.
hello, I would like to know how many people did you have sound during your secular ceremony during your video?
Looks amazing! My only concern is with the bluetooth range.. Once you get a bunch of people in the room with phones, have you had any issues with signal drop?
The microphones are picked up by the Shure mic system. If you are in the back with the speaker it would be real hard to have a drop out.
@@flyrobin2544 I was referring to the I-pad.. The audio from the I-pad is being streamed via bluetooth..

No problems with bluetooth within a respectable distance (20ft).
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
What is the bag you have your kit in? Looks like JBL, but I don't see a bag like that for the Eon One.
hey friend, your eon compact master volume stay RED too? What is that mean? Thanks
Red means it is limiting. (too loud)
@@DJJoshErieOfficial Thank you... In my case, I think that this limiter starts to act very early. What do you think about this?
@@musicaparacasamento That's the problem everybody has. Still sounds clean but red limit light comes on max 95dB. Specs say 112dB Funny joke!

Wouldn't it be better at the front of the room facing forward projecting forward in front of the person with the microphone to avoid any reverb?

Bose s1pro смеётся над этим)
Thanks for the tip
Can it be also used as a dj monitor ( SPL?) via cable trs or xls?
Подскажите, а что за полочка у вас на стойке для акустической системы? Не встречал таких. Э

Good info, I think your cost of equipment is low. Closer to $2k in January 2023.

Thank you great review!!! :D (female DJ here)
I'm retiring and just sold two of these. It was a sad day. 😔

Bose S1 Pro+ for the win.
I was waiting for a good music through out the video, but he diappointed me.
It peaks at low levels :/
