    Thats a huge defensive fighter response, around 200 defender aircraft...

      Can't imagine how the sky looks like, when over 200, 300 planes are in the same area. And you are in one of these planes.

    Are formation diagrams available for all Groups and all missions?

      I am sure they are exists. But not all of them are available online. The 95th BG has scanned mission reports on their website with formation charts:

    Didn't they check the wreck after the war ?

      The Germans found and checked the wreck. Probably at same day.
