I want to add Sunghoon in the visual curse. Like boy can actually dance and sing, but recently I’ve seen him become a visual member with little to no lines. It makes me mad (keep in mind he use to have lines too). I feel like it’s an insult on that idol’s ability. Imagine training and then be assigned the “visual title”. Like it discredits the work they put into being an idol.

Now, I blame Lisa for this comeback and while I liked the MV the lyrics and music were just cheap, BUT that does not mean that all BLACKPINK do not care for their music, it’s the very reason they chose to distance themselves from YG for their solo activities, they could have just stayed, do a comeback every now and be done with it.

Honestly, I am not a lily, but I really liked rockstar way better than lalisa, also I'd prefer rockstar even over money, it's her best solo so far, her vocals also shined in this group, it's just a bit repetitive and short, but it's a pre-release, and the most cringienst lyric "Lisa can you teach me japanese? I said Hai, Hai (it is definitely the second most catchy part of the song) it is cringy but it somehow has that vibe, and that's what I like, the song is definitely my type, there are a lot of songs out there with literally 0 meaning but they really do well, I think music is more about vibe rather than meaningful lyricw, it depends on the mood. And it's definitely not what I expected but yes it is way better than her previous releases and it is one of the best release of 2024 so far.

This . Lisa was never a writer or lyricist. She never had indepth meaningful songs why should it be different now. Unrealistic expectations are not good. Take her at face value. She's showcasing her skills and what has always worked for her. She is a great dancer and can rap and she did exactly that. Just enjoy her song instead of expecting her to start making songs that aren't mainstream or songs that are meaningful.

I actually like New Jeans's first two EP's. Cool with you, Get up, Attention, Hype Boy are great songs in my opinion. But to me all their discography should have been made as a debut album because the sound doesn't evolve with their latest releases. Like, it would have been around 20 songs for a full album, then a world tour, and after a year a next album which evolves musically. As a Blink, Lisa's songs are just awful - I don't like any of them, they are Ice Spice coded

"Aces" are idols who also excel as producers, songwriters, or another element beyond singing, dancing, and rapping. Also, while I'd say they are the exception and not the rule, there are plenty of idols (Soyeon; Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han; Hongjoong and Mingi) who have numerous writing credits to their name.

I stopped stanning BP after DDU-DU DDU-DU, when it became apparent they only had one dimension and the steady stream of flexing songs became too cringe. My biggest gripe with BP was their lack of creative input. Especially when it came to rapping. IMO, cadence and attitude don't make up for not actually writing the lyrics, so Lisa and Jennie are not contenders for best kpop rappers, female or otherwise. While plenty of fans argue they just didn't receive credit, it's actually better they don't have their names credited because of how silly and cringe most BP lyrics are. With that in mind, I will reserve judgement on Lisa's writing ability despite Rockstar being much of the same in terms of tone and cringe. My thought (hope) is that if this is the first time she's had creative freedom to write her own lyrics, then it's not surprising she hasn't found her own voice or developed the skill for writing. Should she have held off on a comeback for another two years while she did some soul searching and developed her writing without YG's influence? idk. Rockstar is pretty bad, but I have more hope for her solo work than I do for BP coming out with something good anytime soon.

Rockstar was my all time favorite release of the year. Filming in your home country and historic sites that are well known, the inclusion of LGBTQIA dances and myself as an ACE person I felt the connection. Defeating the stereotypes and keeping your culture close are all things u have respect for the rap wasn’t my cup of tea but vocals and instrumental 100%
I think Lisa doesn't fall far from the YG formula because she was a YG artist. She lost her blaccent for Rockstar, and I thought it was a really good introduction into who Lisa wants to be in the industry. Call me crazy or even a gullible unicorn, but that's just my opinion. I honestly think Rockstar was the best solo release from Blackpink.
Rockstar's instrumental is great but her lyrics? It cringe, I get that she wrote the song but it does feel like she is rushing how she expresses her art and, not taking her time instead and she can't rap fr, I'm not sorry to say this. Even at the start of her career, she can't even rap at all, she was only popular and liked for resembling a Barbie Girl where people dubbed her Asian Barbie or Thai Barbie because of her popular blonde hair bangs that serves that look, and that is all she has going on.
My (Long) opinion: This is only directed to people who are unnecessarily rude and hateful. If you believe you are giving constructive criticism, this is not for you. In short, if you don't like certain music, unless it has offensive terms or symbols, just move along and go listen to something you like. Stop ruining people's preferences and making them feel bad for liking it. Longer: Lisa's song Rockstar and BM's song's Forever, I really enjoyed. Some people vibe to a song, some like meanings, some do both depending. I honestly don't get people who vocally hate other people's music taste. I get not everyone's gonna like the same music, but what goal or purpose do you have to be so vocally hateful about it. Usually when i don't like a song, I'm just like "okay, it's not my type" to myself or when someone asks when trying out new music. No matter how mediocre or crap a song is to you, that will never be a fact if someone else thoroughly enjoys it. It is so much easier to go on and find or listen to songs you actually like than spending the extra time to hate on a song you hate. It's a much simpler and peaceful solution than fighting with someone about whose songs are better. There is no right measurement of what a "good" song is, music is subjective. That type of hate is so unnecessary unless the song included offensive terms or symbols. And last note, in no way am I saying you are not allowed to voice your opinion, I just don't get people who do it disrespectfully or say stuff like "your music is crap" when someone is excited to show you a song they like. It doesn't cost a penny to just say "Oh, I'm glad you enjoy it, but it's not my cup of tea." For those who think I'm hurt by someone else's opinion, due to my long opinion: Long "essays" do not equate to being butthurt because I am naturally a person who wants to make sure I am understood and thorough when stating an opinion even if the opinion is on a silly topic.
4. BP members are no longer K-pop idol's, they've grown too big individually. They will continue to cater to the west where there's more opportunities for bigger individual deals.

Lisa was never my favorite due to her solos with Yg, but I was curious to see what she would do independently. There're interesting ideas in the visuals, and it could be more explored in the lyrics, but it ended up being a rehash of her previous works. The only thing I like about it is that the instrumental doesn't make my ears bleed. I just hope the other members don't go in the same direction. I have some hope with jennie since her first solo release was slow motion, which was quite different from yg style

Now, I blame Lisa for this comeback and while I liked the MV the lyrics and music were just cheap, BUT that does not mean that all BLACKPINK do not care for their music, it’s the very reason they chose to distance themselves from YG for their solo activities, they could have just stayed, do a comeback every now and be done with it.

The MV was finally something different from YG, less indoor scenes, overall more interactions between the members even in non-dancing parts, midnight vibes in contrast with the summer feeling…it was nice

But to me all their discography should have been made as a debut album because the sound doesn't evolve with their latest releases. I stopped stanning BP after DDU-DU DDU-DU, when it became apparent they only had one dimension and the steady stream of flexing songs became too cringe. My biggest gripe with BP was their lack of creative input. Especially when it came to rapping. IMO, cadence and attitude don't make up for not actually writing the lyrics, so Lisa and Jennie are not contenders for best kpop rappers, female or otherwise. While plenty of fans argue they just didn't receive credit, it's actually better they don't have their names credited because of how silly and cringe most BP lyrics are.
With that in mind, I will reserve judgement on Lisa's writing ability despite Rockstar being much of the same in terms of tone and cringe. My thought (hope) is that if this is the first time she's had creative freedom to write her own lyrics, then it's not surprising she hasn't found her own voice or developed the skill for writing. Should she have held off on a comeback for another two years while she did some soul searching and developed her writing without YG's influence? idk. Rockstar is pretty bad, but I have more hope for her solo work than I do for BP coming out with something good anytime soon.

Filming in your home country and historic sites that are well known, the inclusion of LGBTQIA dances and myself as an ACE person I felt the connection. I think Lisa doesn't fall far from the YG formula because she was a YG artist. Rockstar's instrumental is great but her lyrics? Lisa's song Rockstar and BM's song's Forever, I really enjoyed. Some people vibe to a song, some like meanings, some do both depending. I honestly don't get people who vocally hate other people's music taste. I get not everyone's gonna like the same music, but what goal or purpose do you have to be so vocally hateful about it. Usually when i don't like a song, I'm just like "okay, it's not my type" to myself or when someone asks when trying out new music. No matter how mediocre or crap a song is to you, that will never be a fact if someone else thoroughly enjoys it. It is so much easier to go on and find or listen to songs you actually like than spending the extra time to hate on a song you hate. It's a much simpler and peaceful solution than fighting with someone about whose songs are better. There is no right measurement of what a "good" song is, music is subjective. That type of hate is so unnecessary unless the song included offensive terms or symbols. And last note, in no way am I saying you are not allowed to voice your opinion, I just don't get people who do it disrespectfully or say stuff like "your music is crap" when someone is excited to show you a song they like. It doesn't cost a penny to just say "Oh, I'm glad you enjoy it, but it's not my cup of tea."
For those who think I'm hurt by someone else's opinion, due to my long opinion: Long "essays" do not equate to being butthurt because I am naturally a person who wants to make sure I am understood and thorough when stating an opinion even if the opinion is on a silly topic.
