HOW DANGEROUS IS MINDANAO? (you'd be surprised)

  • When i tell people i'm from the Philippines, i still get questioned about the safety of the country.
In an environment like today, safety is something that is quite hard to define on the world stage.
Most of the bad news coming out of the country and making international headlines (before talks of politics and EJKs) was about terrorism and kidnappings in Mindanao and primarily in the provinces of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.
With this video, i just wanted to give you a glimpse of the culture of these provinces and say that we shouldnt let the 1% that is negative represent the 99% that is great.

Daaaamn the Philippines does have so many resemblances with Indonesia. I can never tell if a person is a Filipino/Indonesian. Both physically and culturally we are so similar. The languages too. Love from your neighboring sister!

@Kalobeast 55 actually the javanese language, one of the dialects in indonesia can also use the verb-subject-object grammatical structure like the tagalog language does.

@Kalobeast 55 well in Javanese language the VSO structure is rarely use today while the tagalog language can use both SVO & VSO grammatical order but the SVO structure is only use when speaking in a formal speech...
      example:
formal(SVO)- "ako ay takot" informal(VSO)-"takot ako"

    • @rjee007
      @rjee007 5 лет назад +5

@Kalobeast 55 in tagalog language and the rest of Filipino languages, VSO is considered as informal speech which is the common grammatical structure used by people in day to day coversation... while SVO is only use in formal speach like ceremony, inauguration, public speaking, literature, songs and legal documents... So in short VSO is used by the ordinary people while the SVO is used by the intellectual soceity..

This is one of the best vlog episodes, from the use of graphics, the visual attention to the small cultural details and the narrative content provided focusing on what the region and country can achieve together when they celebrate their universal love of food, dance, music and other arts. The positive aspects of cultural identity, the celebration of the collective ancestry without the toxic divisive agenda of politics. Well done.

Though conflict and danger exists here, it's also true all throughout the Philippines. As someone coming from South Cotabato, I really want to thank you for making this video and show everyone the beauty and majesty of the ARMM. AS A PERSON BORN AND RAISED IN LALA, LANAO DEL NORTE NOW, I WITNESSED EVERYTHING AROUND ME DURING MY ADOLESCENT YEARS ALL THE HAPPENING! JUST LIKE ANY PLACE IN THE PHILIPPINES AS WELL AS AROUND THE WORLD, PEOPLE STRIVE TO.LIVE I N PEACE AND HARMONY WITH OTHER AND NATURE HAS TO OFFER? THOUGH YOU CAN SAY PRIMITIVE KIND OF LIKE ARE STILL SEEN IN SOME SPOTS OF THE ISLAND. I REMEMBER IT TAKES US TO A BUS FROM LALA TO ILIGAN CITY IN 6-8 HOURS BECAUSE OUR HIGHWAY SYSTEM IS LIKE A COBBLESTONE HIGHWAY AND THE BUS CAN RUN AT 20-30 KPH BUT STOPS SO FREQUENT TO.LOAD AND UNLOAD PASSENGERS ALONG THE WAY AND THAT MAKES IT A REAL LONG TRIP. IF YOU HAVE A BUSINESS TO ATTEND TO YOU CAN NOT MAKE A RETURN TRIP IN ONE DAY! THAT'S HOW PRIMITIVE THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IN 30'S UNTIL THE LATE 50'S WHEN THE HIGHWAY WERE SLOWLY PAVED? THOSE COLORFUL RITUALS ARE HAPPENING DURING A WEDDING EVENT FOR THE ROYALS ONLY NOT THE ORDINARY MUSLIM. I WITNESSED A DATU WHO RETURN FROM A PILGRIMAGE FROM MECCA, HE WAS CARRIE BACK TO HIS PLACE RIDING A RIG SIMILAR TO A RIG THAT CARRIED THE ARK OF THE COVENANT ONLY THIS WAS ADORNED GOLD AND LOTS OF PAPER MONEY AROUND IT! ALSO, I WITNESSED WHEN I WAS IN FOURTH GRADE, THE BOMBING OF THE PHILIPPINE AIRFORCE AGAINST A CHIEFTAJN CALLED TAWANTAWAN FOR OVER 6 MONTHS ON A DAILY BASIS BUT HE WAS CONVINCED TO SURRENDER TO RAMON MAGSAYSAY WHO AT THE TIME WAS THE DEFENSE SECRETARY AND LATER BECAME PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES IN THE MID 59'S! ALSO THE KIRAM FAMILY ALWAYS STAYED AT OUR HOUSE WHEN THEY PASS OUR LOCALITY AND MY.MOTHER PERSONALLY KNEW PRINCESS TARHATA KIRAM OF THE SULTANATE OF SULU. WE HAVE MUSLIM NEIGHBORS ALL AROUND AND WE CO EXUST WITH TEM, PLAYED WITH THEM EVEN ONBOTHER SOCIAL EVENTS WITH NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER. SO AS YOU CAN SEE MUSLIM PEOPLE ARE JUST OTHER KINDS OF PEOPLE THEY WANT TO.LIVE IN PEACE AND HARMONY!

Kulas of Becoming Filipino was the one who introduced me to the people, food and lifestyle in Mindanao which is a shame because he is a foreigner (who embraced life in Mindanao). Rich culture of Mindanao should be taught in school as theirs is well kept unlike other communities and culture that are changed & modernized.

Imperial Manila has tainted the image of Mindanal as a whole. It would be better if Mindanao would be on its own, prosper on it's own and have its own revolutionary government.

As a Filipino-American with both of my parents from central/northern Luzon, I had absolutely no knowledge of this entire part of Philippine culture. I knew Muslim missionaries and peoples settled in and converted much of the southern Philippines, and I knew all of the negative and violence you hear from the news, but I didn’t know much beyond that. Thank you for showing at least a part of such a beautiful and diverse culture.

For the information of the uninformed, the Southern part of the Philippines is not Muslim majority. As a South Cotabateño and Mindanawan myself, I can say that majority of the population here are catholic Ilonggos and Cebuanos.

_there was some gross mistake at __1:03__. Most likely Arab traders with wooden ships came to this place, same to Indonesian Islands. They were not missionaries. They shared their beliefs as they are under obligation to do so. Locals liked it and embraced it too. There is no compulsion in Islam faith, sincerity is a requisite and they didn't colonize that place_
_A big contrast with Spanish invaders who after conquered (colonized) the land, embarked on Inquisition but these people resisted it, led by First Hero - Lapu Lapu_
