Absolutely AWESOME band! They deserve a much bigger audience. They travel to England regularly and play, sometimes, to only 100 people. It's a crying shame. I always wish I could do more to help them 😩
I found out about this band only a few days ago by chance, I don't see them mentioned in comments anywhere, they should be, they are one of the better Japanese girl bands I have heard since I went down that rabbit hole.
When I first heard this song I thought she was saying "Theres always a way to win even if you're fucking dumb" and i wish that was what she actually said lol
One of the best songs from their last album. Thanks for checking them out--they deserve all the attention we can give them. They are working on a new album right now, expect to be doing the mastering this coming spring. The big challenge, after all the lineup changes, is to keep this lineup together long enough to create a real legacy. They have the sound.
I absolutely love KIMI and her vocals. I adore this band so much. Ayumi's guitar is outstanding, such a great bluesy/rocker. she has helped this band elevate since joining IMO. Natsumi's drumming, Haru's bass. so good. I would marry KIMI in a heartbeat and move to Japan to help support her. I pray for this band to take off sometime soon. and I really want to see them perform live. maybe 2024.... nice reaction, thanks for supporting BRIDEAR (bride-ear as they pronounce it) check out BRAVE NEW WORLD REVISITED and RAY of CHAOS by them, I think there's a recent live version of IGNITE also out there on their YT channel. oustanding band, love them, 2 of their songs were in my top 5 on Spotify this year. (Ray of Chaos & Greed) should Aegis of Athena is an awesome album and hopefully we'll get a new on in summer of 2024 from them. (and still praying for them to come to the USA!)
Bridear and Kimi especially have been making every effort to write English lyrics. Kimi has a pretty good handle on the language. When on tour in other countries, they take turns reading statements in the language of the country they are in. The audience loves it. Kimi, in a interview late last year said they were looking into coming to the USA this year, but it apparently didn't work out. They will get here, I am sure. They were the first Japanese band to venture out on a EU UK tour as soon as it was allowed at the tail end of the pandemic. Bridear has been around for over ten years now. It's time for them to get over here.
Engrish!... I agree, I could listen to it all day. You should check out MELL／Red fraction, her Engrish is adorable too. Also, if memory serves me right, these guitarists are actually sisters. Kinda makes sense that they can sync up so well.
I’m with you!! For me her pronunciation makes the song so much better. I can’t imagine singing in a different language, I’d butcher it SO bad and she’s doing great. Bridear was one of the first Japanese artists I got into, leading me down the rabbit hole. I’ll throw you a curve ball-The Devil’s Killing Merry Go Round-Diabolos (metal/pop/goth??) and Atarashii Gakko-Pineapple Kryptonite.

It’s not an accent. She’s singing the English words in Katakana, as most Japanese learn to do in middle school. Thus, “place” becomes プレス (“pu-re-su”), etc.
They have a new album coming out in February and if it's half as good as Aegis of Athena (their last) I will be a happy guy. I love Kimi's vocals, I wouldn't care if she sang in German. Try "Ray of Chaos" or "Brave New World Revisited" next.
Is it February? The only thing I found said summer. It's exciting either way! Good song recommendations, too; Ray of Chaos was the song that first got me hooked on Bridear.
@@zephyr835 Pretty sure I saw it on Heavier Japan, but I may be mistaken. I'm like you, either way I'll be happy to have a new one, because A of A was brilliant!! Brave New World Revisited was my intro to the band, but Ray of Chaos is the one where I fell in love with Kimi's vocals!!
I'm fine with the English lyrics, too, even if they can be hard to discern. Interestingly, the two Bridear songs you've heard so far both have the breakdown-style second verse. I agree with the suggestions for Ray of Chaos and Brave New World Revisited. Since you like solos, I also recommend Crybaby; then again, a lot of their solos are great IMO.
I have always assumed that Avex Trax would block any attempt to use their videos. (They have a very strong Sales Prevention Team.) Did you encounter any problems when posting this reaction?
Great band but I've always kind of wished Kimi would just sing in Japanese. I've never found their English lyrics to be strong. I don't think they need to pander to shallow westerners who won't listen to anything that's not in English. There are plenty of us who would love their songs just as much, if not more, if they were in Japanese.

Good song. But songs like Ignite or Bloody Bride are more entertaining.
