I don't agree with that. Sure, he does indeed treat her _human_ but it's explained that that isn't the reason he doesn't get those terrible requests in place of his high demands. I think that Ai/Nanika is almost like half a Nen ability that's not really explained. My basis for this is the girl who can write people's futures based on some conditions without any prior experience or knowledge in Nen can have her ability stolen by Chrollo, who can steal Nen abilities. Similarly Ai comes out of nowhere to a little kid and gives them an ability that they seem to have some semblance of control over, along with conditions, but said girl had/has no knowledge of Nen.
Thus I believe she could change the conditions due to being under a family of users of Nen giving her influence, but also that Ai seems to be its own person who seems to have only developed as a shell of a child alongside its host, as per it crying when Killua asked it to never come back out and Nanika could tell it was crying while not physically being shown. So being its own thing, and seeming to have an emotional connection to its host but also emotional independence, the conditions would be much easier to change due to agreement that "Killua wouldn't be the kind of brother that would wish I hurt people, no matter what" and lift the heavy stuff on him.
On a side note, imagine Chrollo got a hold of Ai if this is actually true?
I don't actually think the creature Ai is Nanika, we know that Aruka switch with (it/her ?) after a wish is exauced. I rather think they are like two personalities in a same body, not in a schizophrenia way but two separates being. Nanika could be transmitted or brought anyhow to ( him/her? Hell that's kinda gender fluid stuff, japanese people love to complicate things) Aruka. Remember of Netero and Maha Zoldyek caming back from the dc?

Nanika doesn't seem to realy possess Aluka. It is like they coexist in Aluka's body as sisters or very close friends. Aluka was so angry at Killua for making Nanika cry.

It's very similar to a mental condition that develops multiple personalities in a single person cuz of trauma. It's called DID.

It makes sense that she is so powerful.
When you put a contract/condition on nen, it becomes stronger and the bigger the contract, the stronger the ability gets. This is what I believe makes Nanika so strong, the condition for her ability is to do something equally as significant. For example, when the girl asked to be a millionaire, lives were lost as a result due to the wish being so large where as when Milluki asked for a computer, the demands weren't nearly as bad
It isn't confirmed that what Nanika does is a result of nen though.
@@babygurleatsshickennuggits4201 It's not stated to be Nen, but could be in the future. What we do know is that the demands/deaths aren't necessary nor do they restrict the scope of wish being granted. It's just something Nanika does for whatever reason. She can as easily not do it if she wants to.

Alluka prefers to wears girls clothing and being referred to as a girl. When Killua introduced her to Gon he said that Allukah was his sister. Ging is a Specialist. G.R.E.E.D I.S.L.A.N.D is a game created by a group of specialist wherein Ging is one of them, the leader to be specific. If I'm not mistaken, the *R* represents *Razor* and the 2 *E's* represents the twin girls that welcome any players who enter the game.

If nanika is zigg zoldyck's punishment for the secret trip, then does that imply the chimera ants were netero's punishment? After all they could be considered as an ultimate punishment since they caused his death.
And the 2nd question is how will nanika affect zigg? Or is having her as a constant threat can be considered as zigg's punishment?

chimera ants is not a calamity
A quick couple things.
1. Nanika's abilities may revolve around temporal and spatial manipulation in order to achieve a wish. Notice how instead of just conjuring money, she had to teleport something that already existed into the area. Whenever the bodies are crushed or wrung, it seems as if some invisible force has done so. Manipulating space around them.
Everytime she's healed someone, she's simply rewound time to a point where that person wasn't hurt. Such as Gon. This is obviously just speculation, but it is interesting speculation nonetheless.
2. Pariston seemed to sense aura when Nanika was healing Gon, although whether or not that was exclusively Gon's aura or not is completely unknown. However, the checks and balance system she uses seems to suggest that it is a strange use of nen. Which makes one wonder what would happen if someone like Meruem ate her.
It also makes one wonder, do the "free wishes" Killua is offered secretly hurt Nanika? I believe that we may find out whether or not this is the case.
3. This part is merely speculation, but I believe that if Nanika is possessed by an Ai, that this might give us some inclination into how they operate. I believe that Ai lives indefinitely (or is at least incredibly long lived. The last recorded trip to the DC was 50 years prior to the events of the series), and that they take on the mentally of whomever they possess. However, outside of a person's body, they are harmless, and actually vulnerable to damage via nen attacks. So once the host dies, they lose all memories and transfer into their next host. Or they are both killed if the two have been bonded long enough. Hence why there is a codependence for one on the other. The Ai uses the body for protection as well as for activating it's ability (perhaps with the use of nen).
I'm also thinking that the Ai doesn't know how it's wishing ability actually works, meaning that it uses nen subconsciously. As it's nen ability is natural to it's being.
4. The expedition force that brought back the Ai was from the Mimbo Republic. If you look on a HxH map, the Mimbo Republic boarders the Republic of Padokea, on which exists Kukuroo Mountain. Aka, the location of the Zoldyck estate.
This would mean that the Ai is 50+ years old.
5. A minor but necessary point. Whilst Chimera Ants indeed do come from the Dark Continent, it's the 2mm ones that come from the DC. The Demi-human Chimera Ant Queen was likely a mutant based on a Chimera Ant hive that devoured a human in the known world. Both of which were suggested in the series.
It is very unlikely that she literally swam from the DC to the human world. While Chimera Ants themselves are strong, the Queen herself is not. It'll take the Black Whake three months to go from the human world to the DC. That is an unfathomable distance to swim, much larger than any ocean we have on Earth. She'd also have to get past the Gatekeepers and the Guide. As well as any number of storms and monsters both in the air and the sea.
How all the ai got the same characteristics of their nen use if supposedly nen is something really personal? Are they a hive mind?
The Queen, the progenitor of Chimera Ants, is not from Dark Continent. This was explained by Ging himself, in the manga. The reason why she wants to create an army of her kind is to conquer the Dark Continent.
@@kuyadong6791 Actually Ging stated that Meruem's colony of Chimera Ants came from the "outside". She also never stated that she desired for her son to take over the DC. I don't think she had any clue about the DC.

It’s pretty safe to assume Killua’s Grandpa knows the truth about Nanika. The manga confirmed Killua’s relative visited the dark continent long ago. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the entire Zoldyck family was built around protecting Nanika from the world

About Alluka-- I always thought it was weird, the way her hair was cut in those choppy layers. Then I took a closer look at her hair in the manga, and came to the conclusion that her hair is matted/in dreadlocks due to neglect. In the manga, each uneven, thick lock of hair is defined, and her hair isn't shiny like other black-haired characters. It makes me really mad when I think of Illumi's shiny, flowing hair.

Wilthewise Obviously yeah, he will deliberately avoid conflict with her. Despite his goal and horniness for fighting strong opponents, Hisoka’s clever enough for thinking about the consequences, knowing she’s from the dark continent. But I wonder if he’s more intimidated of her or fascinated
Legolas The Elf the way you’re phrasing it makes nanika sound like a strong opponent to fight and kill, I’m saying nanika can’t put up a fight, would die easily and unleash a gas monster
In the video you state that the one inconsistency is that Nankia doesn't appear as a gaseous life form, however when Alluka effectively becomes Nanika, you can see her black/smoky and gaseous like aura surround her, not to mention that her eyes when often illustrated as voids, seem to resemble those pictured of the calamity AI.

The cards etc were most likely created using some very powerful conjurer techniques and the rules of the games etc tie pretty well with the covenant and contracts Nen abilities are able to manifest, keep in mind that the condition doesn't have to be as steep as Kurapika's for relatively casual things like that.
It was never explained completely but the rule of thumb in HxH has always been that the world is huge and there's all kinds of people living in it, surely someone has developed abilities to create a game-like setup on an island which is probably owned by Ging and his friends.
The thing I'm more interested in are actually the NPC characters as that's a pretty bizarre thing even in HxH. They've basically created humanlike puppets and applied a rule on them to act in certain kind of way yet interract with actual people in the island, very interesting.

Fun fact, the name nanika is actually a play on words. In Japanese it means something but nani, as many people know, translates to “what?”. And “Ka” is used at the end of sentences to make it a question. So her name basically means, “what are you?/who am I”. I think Killua vaguely mentioned this but unless you know some Japanese it can be hard to catch on.

@@lueroifan12 Alluka is a girl but I'm pretty sure the family calls her a boy because that's probably what they think Nanikas gender is. But since Alluka is referred to by Killua as his sister, as well as asked a for a female butler to take care of her, (as in take her to the restroom and such,) instead of a male butler I think that kinda settles is. I would say she also wears a dress but it doesn't seem like HxH seems to care about gender when it comes to clothing choices ehehe

Baby Gurl eats Shicken nuggits / Although I like that theory, I also think an interesting possibility is just that Killua’s mom wanted daughters, but never received them, so she resorted to dressing and treating her youngest 2 kids as such. As a resort, Kalluto and Alluka appear female, but are naturally born males. It appears kalluto doesn’t have a gender preference, he just doesn’t really care. Alluka is probably the same way but out of respect, killua still refers to her as a girl and his little sister. I just like this theory because it explains why Kalluto appears female and wears traditional female attire, despite being a male, and it makes more sense as to why most of the zoldyck family provide feminine items to Alluka, despite clearly not being very supportive of Alluka being called a girl.

Excellent writing. Nanika can give you anything you want, but that incurs immense suffering. If you treat her like a person and don’t give into temptation, nothing bad will happen
Togashi seems to have a theme centered around how greed, selfishness, and power lead to an unfulfilling life but those who seek goals outside of that realm have unfathomable power. Nen in and of itself seems to be a visual representation of strong will and spirit, in that case.

Everyone always asks WHERE Nanika is, but no one ever asks HOW nanika is. It makes me sad everyone used her for their own benefit. They could've played with nanika and asked for silly little things or just been their friend. In the end nanika kills people with their own greed.
You left out the part where "ai" is Japanese for "love". Well it's one of two words that can be translated to love, the other one being "koi". According to a website I just read, "koi" roughly means a passionate, wanting love, such as between lovers. But "ai" is a genuine, giving love, or unconditional.
This might explain why Killua is able to ask Nanika for feats that require immense power for such a low cost, due to the unconditional love between him and Alluka (and by extension Nanika). Not as in "the power of love triumphs" trope, but by being an extreme condition to Nen, assuming that things from the Dark Continent still operate with it.

What if Killua uses Nanika to teleport himeself to his siblings (his 2 brothers on the Whale Ship to the Dark Continent) or teleport Gon to his dad Ging whose also on the ship. Therefore its possible that Ging and Pariston are there too. Besides we know Hisoka is on the ship even though we have yet to receive a visual confirmation

It's been explained that everytime a survivor comes back they carry a curse and nanika is the curse of the zoldyck fam from zzig going in there.
It’s possible that when Alluka first met Ai she requesed that Ai “stay with” her or even just “play with” her children ask for parents and guardians and friends to stay with or stay and play with them all the time. Ai may have granted this wish by way of co-possessing Alluka’s body; and the payment for that wish could be that Alluka has to make the horrific demands for Nanika when required or something like that. Also “stay with me” etc is a good and positive wish, so it’s also possible Alluka never had to pay for that wish in any extreme way, as it’s also clear that Nanika is happy being with Alluka.
Ironic that a world destroying calamity despised greedy/selfish/cruel wished but instead likes kind or selfless wishes. Really makes you think about how greedy humanity is

My question is why did Nanika specifically choose Alluka as it's host? Was AI inhabiting a descendant of a Zoldyck Zigg's punishment? What about Netero and that other side character that went to the DC, what were their punishments? Also what happened to AI during that time period between AI coming to the mainland and Alluka's birth, was it contained? Was it waiting for a host? HxH lore really is fascinating.
I have begun theorizing that Nanika or "Ai" use one's "Lifeforce" to make their wishes if they are "unpure", greedy or lustful desires. For example, that person who wished for a fortune, eventually died pretty quickly after the fact, maybe through sheer fate, or his life clock simply was severely diminished. If you think about it, not a single person that wished for something for themselves lived long enough afterward, except for Killua because he is an exception to the rule, or he did only make "pure" wishes like healing or fixing things, without anything for himself in return.
Through the entire series we know that using restrictions on Nen that involve life-draining conditions, such as Kurapika, are able to generate a tremendous amount of power. So I believe Nanika's powers are centered on reducing one's life force to make anything possible. That would also explain why when someone fails the condition, the burden is instant death to the person and also to anybody related to him, as an exchange of life force to make the ability work.
So my theory is that Nanika's powers function in this way:
1) If you make an unpure, greedy or lustful wish for yourself, then you will lose life force equivalent to the size of the wish, to make it a reality. The second person that she demands will also feel the burden of the previous wish, through costly demands by Alluka. If the second person fails, he and also a lot of people connected to the person (possibly also the last person who made unpure wishes) will get completely drained of their life forces, then Alluka will reset to its normal state.
2) If you make a pure wish, to heal or fix something to someone, then Nanika herself will exchange her own life force to make the wish reality. Without any burden or condition on the next person that comes to ask. This drastically reduces Nanika's lifespan.
If you think about it, it is a lot more plausible than having an OP Deus-Ex-Machima kinda character that can simply do anything without any drawback. Not a single person that made unpure wishes lived long afterward, and this would be a way to balance this character out, so the next calamities can also scale accordingly. That also means that she has lost a lot of her lifespan after healing Gon, and it is probably gonna die very soon.

In terms of narrative, Nanika could represent a joining point between Gon and Kil's future. They finally have a common ground for a new adventure. Kil and Gon could have the same target in the dark continent after the introduction of Ging and Nanika in the last episodes. That plot could repair Killua's aspirations while before he was only following Gon.

If the next wish granted has to be bigger than the last one and, if I remember right, Killua asked that Nanika only Grant's his wishes from now on, then what would top that? The only thing I can guess is maybe for Killua to either wish for Gon to get his nen back (which would be a big deal if the wish's greatness is correlated to how powerful Gon can be) or for the Dark Continent to not be a problem somehow.
I think we need to undestand the timeline of the travels to the Dark continent and the possible age of Alluka, to clarify somethings.
I think alluka is as old as she seems but nanika might be older, if the theory is that the gas life form is capable of taking over people's bodies, it could pass from a human to another in order to preserver itself

So it seems like, Nanika is a curse from the dark continent in the form of the 5 calamities because of either Maha or Zigg (or both). Most likely a powerful nen ability. Probably one of the conditions are about relationship and love. If a request after a big wash was not met, the person who wished the big wish will die a long with the person they love the most and spend time the most. But if you make Nanika love you, you can make commands. You will have exceptions to the rules and Nanika will only seek praise from you. Just like Killua.
