They say not to use washing up liquid as it damages the rubber seals , the correct liquid can buy for pipes , just saying as I was told that by pipe company makers , your work is really nice , nice video, 1 inspection chamber instead of 2 that corner inspection can get that massive 90 degree turn where it’s so big it’s like a straight.
Hi Chris. This is absolute gold dust. I'm building my own extension and there are always bits and pieces I'm unsure about when it comes to the groundworks and drainage, your video has cleared it up those doubts nicely. When can we expect the floor slab video?
Hi Zed Man. we put pea gravel underneath and covered the rest of the pipe with 250mm of hardcore thyt was sufficient for our local building control. I will show in the next video where I cover the floor slab.
Just between us you really should learn a bit more about groundworks before you start trying to teach others. Having said that you gave me a good laugh just before bed. Will be playing this at work as a tutorial on how not.
Chris Longhurst when you put the base video up can you put the specification of depths of stone ,sand and were to put insulation in the base in the description box thanks 😁 so I can refer to it
And building inspector worth his salt would not pass the drainage , your supposed to be able to rod any connection both from and into the manhole which you clearly cannot do with the first connection out of the manhole
That's how it was shown on the plans, that's how we did it and that was passed- There is no other way. Every bend and change of direction has an inspection chamber in order to to clear any soil build up. There are no problems with the drains!!
The chamber at the corner of the extension is soo wrong, you should have put the main gully at 45deg and used two 45degs to make the 90 degs turn... piss poor job.
Great video Chris very helpful and easy to understand 👏👍✌🏻😷
Nice to see how its done. Thanks Chris.
I'd suggest getting a half decent lapel mic to avoid needing to shout over loud machines. Easily added to video in post production editing
Never use washing up liquid it rots the rubber seals! Always get proper pipe lube.
The Pullens motor oil lol!
Vasaline
Rinnins mums love juice. Up the stokies 👌
Couldn’t hear a thing over the noise I’m afraid. Work looked thorough and good though.
Please keep the uploads coming Chris!
Enjoy watching your video

Good video, but washing up liquid on rubber seals?
Its art to me!!👍👍👍

Just put wet sand down pal then sprinkle some shurbt dip over the top pal. You plonker
@@carpingracketeerbla2684 Hey that is how they do it on the Yorkshire Wild West. You're a plonker!
Thanks for the video. What is the fall on the pipes?
Found it lower down 6mm every meter
Nice work Chris. Quick question with the soil pipe that runs across the eventual floor slab. Is there any requirement to protect it?
Hi Zed Man. we put pea gravel underneath and covered the rest of the pipe with 250mm of hardcore thyt was sufficient for our local building control. I will show in the next video where I cover the floor slab.
Lucky with that, most require concrete bed and surround.
or sandfill cover
pea gravel compacts and holds the pipe
Very lucky the building inspector is a joker too 🤭
What’s with the Genny?
Both chambers installed wrong. Should connect into the main runs you came into the sides on both. Surprised building control didn’t pick it up
Ah. The 'pea gravel' must be the same or similar to 'weak mix concrete' as detailed on drawings for pipes.

The genny noise spoiled this.
Some builder's wife's looking for the washing up liquid bottle again!
Washing up liquid will just perish the rubber seal and should never be used
Steven Cartwright lmao!!!
Can't hear f all pal
That's site work for ya mate LOL
He's got a point - site or not, a you-tube video is no use if you can't hear. Try a radio mic.
I Balbo
Explain the Backdrop in drainage system
It's easier than digging down to pipe invert depth to put a new input into an existing manhole so it breaks into the manhole at a higher level
how did you determine the fall ? of the waste pipe
Hi, we use the 1 in 6 so over 12 meters of length it went from 0 to 200mm. It is 0.6mm to every 1 meter! Hope that helps!

Yes I will do< thanks for the interest-:)
Chris Longhurst have you done the base and posted it you RUclips ?
Yes, here it is buddy-:) ruclips.net/video/PRgwPFY4zIs/видео.html
where is the rest of the build?

Hope your SIP Registered mate!... water board will have a field day if your not!.
Informative video but cameraman is pants. Has no idea where it should be pointing.
You're not supposed to use washing-up liquid for lubrication. It degrades the seal.
How did you come up with that
Brilliant, but hard to hear ya buddy
video hay
The sound is unwatchable 😩sorry lads
Be kind and turn your vibrating plate off when u are talking
Thank you
Turn the generator off
Can't hear nothing

jeffrey loftus Okay, we’re wrong and the local authorities are wrong and let me guess, oh yes, you’re right🙄
Go on then tell me how your going to rod back down the line
That's how it was shown on the plans, that's how we did it and that was passed- There is no other way. Every bend and change of direction has an inspection chamber in order to to clear any soil build up. There are no problems with the drains!!
Chris Longhurst
Well you won’t get the rods up that tee
It's not an "inspection chamber" it's a manhole , and the inspection chamber should be between the manhole and the wall.
Can’t hear nothing 😂
You mean you can't hear anything! You're never going to hear nothing are you?
The chamber at the corner of the extension is soo wrong, you should have put the main gully at 45deg and used two 45degs to make the 90 degs turn... piss poor job.
Well said pal supposed to keep main line running
Yep I noticed that too. 👍🏻
Cowboy
What ?????? Iam deaf now
Can’t hear 😂😂😂🤷♂️🤷♂️
Sorry, men working wouldn't stop machine lol
