My eyes flood every time I hear this, for my father. Not saying he tried his best, but it's still hard to think about (minus the other man). He lived in the house next door to where my mom lives now, he planted the trees, he got me and my brother our dog... and he missed out being with his kids. I used to fall asleep to this song thinking about him when I was a little boy. You can only hope not to be in those shoes.
That guitar solo at 3:00 always kills me and and makes my eyes wet. I never loose it until it comes on. I've listened to loads and loads of music, but that guitar solo near the end is the most emotional I've heard. It really hits you hard, but it's short. You just can't fight the bad atmosphere of this song anymore when you hear it, and shed a bit of tears. That solo really gives off that essence of betrayal/hopelessness/heart-brokenness.
the dobro player for Union Station....dude is too good I think....Jesus.....the guitar solos from "Dreams I'll Never See" by Molly Hatchet....."Hitch a Ride" from Boston.....I'm primarily a Rocker, but I did like some of the country from the 90's......still punch it up today.....like I did this tune.....Toby's from Oklahoma.....good place.....he does a lot of philanthropy work as well.....him and the former coach of the Cowboys was helpin' build houses in OK and TX I think.....rotten bastards anyway......
Literally singing to this with tears falling. My dad passed in January 2019 & I was forced to leave my childhood home, lost most of my stuff I had nowhere to keep cause I had to stay with a relative until I got somewhere to go a couple months later. Had to leave my dogs behind as I can only have 1 under 30 pounds where I live now & don't have money for pet deposit, spay/neuter, etc that's required (landlords are watching them for now)
Where is GoFundMe? Sad... I'm sorry for your loss friend. Stay strong, stay positive and never give in. We as humans overlook things that may seem so insignificant to us personally but means the world to another. You're stronger then you could ever imagine. Take the world by the horns and make your dad proud of what legacy he left to this world. You're in our prayers....
I'm doing a little better in life now though my old "landlords" rehomed my dogs without even talking to me first. Im finally coming around to the thought of getting another pet soon too
That reminds me of my childhood house I was forced to leave after my dad suddenly passed away. I lived there 18+ of 20 years, lost multiple pets there, lost both my parents IN the house, all my memories are there. The "that's my house, that's my car, that's my dog in my backyard" part really hits home for me (except it was my dad's truck & boats instead of my car cause I don't drive 😭 Also the "who's that man running my life" part cause this guy I've known for years stayed with us a couple months before my dad passed away & after I was forced to leave he was staying there & practically running my life at that house with my stuff, my dogs, etc
I listen to this song everytime i let my ego get in the way of a good thing and it makes me remember that what ever the problem is, is just not worth it i love him and i dont wanna be living this song one day
Charlie Sochko hey man I feel the same way.. I actually always loved this album and song! Except I have my kids but she has my heart and life. It's not the possessions it the heart and memories that haunt me
Families are like gardens, it take more than planting seeds and saplings. You have to tend to that garden, with love and care, with time and patience for it to fully bloom. Otherwise some handyman steps in and takes credit, for what you started.
I'm not sure why, but this makes me think about my grandpa. He died a few months back and I don't think I will ever really get over it, similar to my other grandpa's death. I just got out of depression, then boom, my grandpa gets cancer and died 3 weeks after. The worlds just not fucking fair.
I'm not a toby Keith fan. Especially, because most of his fame revolved arou d 9-11. But this song came before that. And while I'm not a country fan, I can really relate to this song. I was a successful man who loved what he had until my wife wanted me gone. Within 2 months she had another man(an abusive man at that) living in my home and "running my life." We've tried to stay friends but its hard. It changed everything. Its been almost 10 years. I went from a successful man, to a guy that moves around a lot and sleeps with any woman he can find. It sux to say the least. Cant seem to move on. Whatever happens, happens now,I suppose.
His fame came before 9/11. Should have been a cowboy, how do you like me now. He aint worth missing, blue moon, a little less talk. He was a superstar in 2001. Thts why they chose him as country musics face of america after the attacks happened.
@@joeydyer6097 I get all that and I’m be heard those songs. But,for someone like me that doesn’t listen to country, you could’ve told me those songs were from Travis tritt or Garth brooks and I would’ve believed you. After 9/11 even I knew who he was. You know what I mean? And damn this is an old post lol
My boyfriend just told me that he listens to this when he knows that I have been talking to other guys and it makes him cry everytime. He means the world to me and I hate hurting him. I love you Zach! 4-16-11!!
I think about my parents divorce when I was little everytime I hear this. It really destroyed my dad. To the women, dont just pick up and run when the going gets tough. Try to fix it first.
Once in a while....you can fix it. If there worth it. Talk it out...it might rake a lotta talking...trust me...in the end it's worth it. It's easy to say screw it I'm leaving. I'm convinced I should of stayed. But no....i left. There is a light at the end of the long long long...tunnel.
In my opinion this is what "pop country" should sound like. It's catchy, it's got a good melody, and it's fit for radio. But at the same time, it still maintains a "country" vibe through the use of instruments like the pedal steel guitar in the chorus. Even though this was probably pretty pop as far as 90's country goes, it would still be too "country" to play on modern country radio stations. That's how far country music has fallen off the map.
GrantH bitch you LITERALLY have a better chance of BOTH pigs flying AND money growing on trees than you do of BOTH pop country AND country pop becoming an actual existing subgenre. It's either POP OR COUNTRY dumb shit. It's not even CLOSE to possible to be a.mix of both. Pop and country are two COMPLETELY different unrelated genres that will NEVER come CLOSE to sounding alike. Pop will NEVER sound country. Country will NEVER sound pop
GrantH are you fucking stupid Toby Keith cant make or sound pop if he tried bitch. This is not even close to too country from ANY time era by ANY standards. There will NEVER be a such thing as too country
GrantH and last of all bitch country has NEVER came CLOSE to falling off of ANY map you dumb shit. Literally ZERO sentences in your comment are even close to being accurate or true. You literally just proved how FUCKING STUPID you truly are and how uneducated on the country genre you are
RIP I forgot about this amazing song never thought my ex-husband would get remarried before me. This must be what he was going through when I had a boyfriend right after divorce 😅❤
I would listen to this song every day after returning from Iraq. For at least two weeks I did. Yep while I was serving my country my now ex wife was serving someone from work. Which is really funny because he was married and no longer married. But his ex wife and myself are married now. Funny how it all turns around.
well I can relate I was married to a girl 15 yrs she betrayed me by coming home. pregnant not once but three times but not only did she betrayed my kids I found all their pictures of them in a shoe box but life goes on I'm remarried and she gave me 3 lovely step daughters. and I'm happy and have. that house and she's unhappy and getting abused
Rest in peace Toby, into the arms of Jesus.
