Thanks! So helpful. Maybe you could offer the option for you to clean the film off before you send the masks for an additional fee so people will be confident that the film is gone 🙂

That is a great idea. Thanks for the Tip.

Fire and/or kitchen abrasive are the only things that work...not the store products.

We use the store products every day. Fire is great when the mask is rubber but can shrink silicone mask skirts. I have used kitchen abrasives and they do work good, however with many modern masks the paste gets in between the skirt and the lens. This leaves a white film that is very tough to get out. Mask scrub is about $7 US and lasts about 7 years with the average number of trips. I think $1 a year is a good deal to do it right. Freddy

Hi thanks for your content! One thing about UV tinted mask like Tusa paragon mask. Do you have any idea on using the seabuff on those? Im afraid I will ruin the uv coating on expensive mask even before diving it. Thanks!

So, a two part reply. One. The coated lenses of many manufactures don't have the initial film left on them from the manufacturing process. They had to take it off to add the tint or film, etc. Second there are mask cleaners that are still ok for the sea that take oils off the lens from sweat, snot, makeup, sun block, suntan lotion, etc. for your regular cleaning between dives. Thanks for watching more to come soon. Freddy

Also, I might add that the Shadow fits very few people properly. I have one and love it but it fits me well. Check out our video on how a mask should fit. good luck. Freddy

How can I remove water stains from my diving mask?

    • @LeviathanScuba
      @LeviathanScuba  Год назад +2

Rubbing alcohol and let it sit for a bit. Wash with dish soap as well. Then re-scrub with a mask scrub product. If you use a mask anti fog product, you wont get water stains anymore because it cannot actually touch the glass. Mask antifog leaves a thin layer of silicone on the glass so water spots cannot adhere. Thanks for watching. More to come soon. Freddy

Can you clean your mask and snorkel with a little beach in the water to kill germs. ? How do you kill the germs ! The mouth piece definitely gets germs ?

Not bleach my friend as it degrades the silicone. Use a product like listerine or a good mouthwash. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching. Freddy

Mask Scrub by Jaws or Buff by Gear Aid. There are many though to choose from. Just make sure it is meant for a snorkel or scuba mask. Silicone safe. Thanks for watching. Freddy

    Thanks for the video!
I just bought some masks for myself and my family here in Amsterdam, and I knew what to ask for thanks to your videos!
The sales guy wouldn’t explain anything or suggest any products I might need. He just kept asking “do you need anything else?” 🤦‍♀️
I had to ask for defog stuff and cloth strap covers for those of us with hair. 😅
The only annoying thing is he didn’t even sell any mask cleaning stuff. 🤯 But at least I knew that was a thing, thanks to your videos!

So after all this scrubbing and rinsing, is there a test before you go on that expensive dive trip that will assure you that the mask is properly cleaned?

Breath on it like a mirror and see if any fog stains show up
