I love these videos so that I can see if I need to add anything else to my ever growing TBR. I have a few on there already as I just purchased Under The Northern Sky trilogy this year. I have read the first two in the Poppy War but have yet to start the third. 😬

I agrre with your list to some extent. GoT would be in my top 3, just because there is no one like Martin. His character work is unmatched in my opinion. I haven't read the great coates yet, but they are sitting on my shelf waiting. Sanderson.. I just can not phatom why this author is so popular. His prose are so bad. I've tried to read Mistborn and the way of kings several times, but I always end up dnfing It. He just isn't for me. I've unhauled all his books.
Totally love Tolkien: the epic scale, the escapist immersion, the characters and writing, ... Really enjoyed Sanderson as well, especially Elantris, Mistborn and The Way of Kings. John Gwynne is awesome! I'll definitely check some of your other recommendations.
I am very curious about the series, as one who has only just now heard about it. I would read it for myself but am also curious if it might be something a younger reader could get into. What would you say about it's complexity and content rating?
I guess I buy the hype because I agree about stormlight. And those giant books actually read fast! I am planning a reread starting late this year or early next year and I’m so excited! Warbreaker is fantastic as well and I loved it even more on reread than the first time I read it! I read legends of the first empire on your recommendation and loved it as well. Trying to work my way through all of Michael J sullivan’s books. This video is making me want to do all the rereads! One of my favorites not on your list is The Greenbone saga. I can’t wait to see what you think about it once you’ve read more of it!
Just downloaded a few thanks for the recommendations! I love fantasy and mostly do audiobooks because of time constraints. I’m so excited! Happy reading!! 👏
Great list I agree with a lot of these! My favorite fantasy series of all time is The Stormlight Archive currently, but I do still have The Great Coats, Legends of the first Empire and Under The Northern Sky sitting on my TBR shelf just waiting to be read and I have high hopes for them. 😂
That edition of Fellowship of the Rings looks so cool!! I've never seen a Lord of the Rings cover like that before. Who was the publisher or what edition is it, if I may ask? Love the video. Am adding Bear and the Nightingale to my TBR.
Guns of the Dawn love this book so much one of my favorites and so heroic bravery xoxo 😚 the story is amazing passionate love the character so much 📚🩵🩵🏝️💛📙📙📚📚🩵🩵📖📖📚📚🏝️📙💛🏝️📚🩵📚💛📙📙💛📚🩵🩵📖🌞🌞🩵📚💛📙📙🏝️📚🌞🌞🌞📖📚📚💛💛📙📙💛🏝️📚🩵📚🏝️💛
I always thought that Foundryside looked interesting and that I should look up if it will be or already is translated to German only to realize just now that I have already read this series. Just because the covers look so different and the titles are different I didn't realize that. I read the last book earlier this year, I was very excited for it. But for me it was pretty disappointing honestly. The first book was really great and I loved it but already when beginning book three I didn't like it anymore. So I am a bit unsure how I feel about this series:/
I just picked up the bear and the nightingale at the library yesterday. Had no idea what it was and never heard of it before, just browsing the shelves and it looked good so i grabbed it. Now I really can't wait to read it 😊
It continues to bring me so much joy how you just fell head over heels in love wiht LotFE. I honestly can't wait to reread it someday, because those characters have my entire heart ❤I love that you have found so many new favourites over the past couple of years, this is a wonderful list :)))
The bear and the nightingale is one of my favourite books ever! So well written, so whimsical, all the characters are well built and I love that it's based on russian folklore and it has very interesting historical context
Great Video Jessie and my favorite series as of right now is The Kingdom Keepers Series it’s not necessarily fantasy but it’s still my favorite series as of this year I recently just finished the first book in a spin-off series by Ridley Pearson and now I can’t wait to see more books 📚 in this series ✨🏰✨😊 Have a Wonderful Day Jessie and looking forward to your next video Happy Reading and Take Care 😊
I think Warbreaker is just incredible and also prefer it to Mistborn :D And agree so much with Stormlight and hoping for a stuck landing which we get closer to reading every day :) I have so many on this list on my TBR which is exciting to have so much to look forward to :) I know your feelings on these but I actually do really enjoy the Realm of the Elderings which sometimes surprises me bc I agree with so much of the criticism but for some reason they work for me 🤷♀ The same goes for The Wheel of Time where by the end it all just worked for me but I get the criticism :) I am also about half through The Sword of Kaigen but am loving it so far so curious if it will make my "top 10" so to speak once I finish it :)
War breaker was just solid for me, not at all on the level of Mistborn, series one or the Stormlight Archives. I found a good portion of the character worth to be under developed. It was all about the twist. The magic system didn't quite land in execution and I wasn't emotionally blown away. Big ideas.... Serviceable execution. Not memorable for me. Not even in A tier, much less S tier.
I love this list so much and will definitely try some these out. Im especially happy to see that Katherine Arden’s Winternight Trilogy is still on your list because it is my favorite. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.💕🌸

I just finished A Dance with Dragons and holy hell... tedious is being so kind. lol. If I had a resume to give out as a book reader, listing my achievements, I would absolutely include that I introduced Legends of the First Empire to several people (you included!) who ended up putting as a favorite series of all time!!! :D
I hope you continue the faithful and fallen series in future!!! each just get better and Im 1000% sure the last two books will be your all time favs! 😁
My favorite is the Morgan Saga by CJ Cherryh. Maybe more SciFi than fantasy per se but hands down my fave. I just wish she had written more of this series.

That's good to know because the first book was a flop for me, I really hope I like it more!
in two years, i hope to see the green bone saga on this list!!! 🥺🥺 that is my favorite series hehe (apart from realm of the elderlings, womp womp)
Yes!! Crossing fingers that rereading it for book club and then finishing out the trilogy will put it on the top 10 list!
I’m about to start the stormlight archive!

Legends of the First Empire and the Winternight Trilogy were my favourite (finished) series last year. 🎉😊❤
Tchaikovsky truly is one of the best. Out of this world amazing author and he should be as popular as like a Sanderson or Abercrombie

Wow, if you love Age of Myth that much then it's probably very good. I've had the book for some time. There's the impetus to start reading it. Thank you.
I love Song of Ice and Fire, The Wolf, Vicious, Warbreaker, The Faithful and the Fallen, and just finished The Poppy War trilogy.
I am eyeing Age of the First Empire there, knowing full well how this video will end.
Warbreaker is my favorite Sanderson that I've read so far! Lightsong and Vivenna are two of my favorite characters ever!
Yes, yes! So good! #mylifetoyours
I read the Bear and the Nightingale this year. I loved the atmospheric writing-it was gorgeously written. I didn’t enjoy the actual story though.
Love the list! Except you missed one book brand new Sky of Seven Colors by Rachelle Nelson, it was just published starting today by Enclave.
I love this but my TBR will never forgive you XD!
Have you read Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne? So far I'm liking that even more than F&F.
I like to pretend the song "I am the Storm" by Ad Infinitum is about Storm from F&F lol
My fav not on this list is Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagowa, the books get better as you go and book 3 made me cry
I haven’t read shadow of the gods yet but I’m reading it with my book club in December so it’ll be soon!! Aww I love the shadow of the fox trilogy, that’s such a good one!
Your comments on books within a series, and liking some more than others, are interesting. The Knife of Letting Go might make my list, but the series wouldn't. The Green Bone Saga (Jade City, etc.) would make my list.
I am almost done with Oathbringer for the first time. Currently sobbing, smiling, screaming--all the emotions LOL. It's even better than Mistborn. I agree with SA being top two for sure.
You got a new subscriber because Leo Carew is on your best list. The series is AMAZING. My best series of all time is PRINCE OF NOTHING and ASPECT EMPEROR by R.Scott Bakker
Scanning your bookshelves to see what books are missing isn’t cheating, right?
I also absolutely LOVED Legends of the First Empire! The cast of characters😭😱🤩
The poppy war is absolutely amazing even though I hate the burning god I'm still glad i read the first book
I would definitely put Lightbringer over Poppy War but really nice list overall.
I loved Black Sun and Fevered Star, I'm sorry you didn't I am hoping book 3 is great because this series has been a sleeper hit for me!
So many great books!! What edition is that of lord of the rings? So cute
I liked a lot about warbreaker, but Vivena completely soured all of it for me with how much page time she got compared to everything else
Ahh that’s a bummer! She wasn’t my favorite character but I still enjoyed her!
Finally a Greatcoats appreciation. It is one of my faves, too. I need to reread.
Black sun is really good I didn't enjoy the sequel
I guessed the top two! 😂 I have so many of these to read... Great video, Jessie!
I need to finish The Cuckoo. I keep getting distracted by other things but I love the series
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!
Right now my favorite fantasy book is Yumi and the Nightmare Painter. I just finished reading it not too long ago and it was just perfection! (for me, anyways)
Actually haven't read any books on this list, although I do have Warbreaker and The Way of Kings! Want to finish Mistborn era 1 before I read either of them.
I’m so excited to read that one!!
Aw I knew it but I still love to see Legends as someone else’s fave series, I feel so understood, and it was the reason I started watching your channel ❤️ I am totally with you with Warbreaker too, it is my favorite Sanderson and one of the first fantasy books I read. I will need to get the courage to star Stormlight but it still intimidates me a lot. Soon hopefully. Awesome video btw, I loved this one. I love favorite list videos so much, you get the best recommendations!
Yess I love the legends love 💕💕💕 I hope you love Stormlight as much as I do when you get to it!!
I tried to like malice. I was 60% through it and I was bored. Nothing happens 😭
I read The Wolf because of your recommendation and really enjoyed it and now can’t wait for the next 2 😊
I’m so happy to hear that!!
Where did you get those covers for Lord Of the Rings?!?!! I need them
They are alternate dust jackets from Nerdy Ink! 😄👍
Great list!! 👍
I believe that Brandon Sanderson is going to return to Warbreaker sometime again
Yes!! It’s going to be a while still I think but he did say he plans to do a sequel at some point! Yay!!!
🌼🌼🌼
did you not read greenbone saga? Because it's on your shelves and not in your list and that's concerning.
😂 I’ve only read Jade City!! I’m rereading it for a book club in September and then hopefully finishing out the trilogy this year!
@@JessieMaeBooks okay then there is still hope 😅
The 3rd book in the Foundryside books was super forgettable. I read and barely remember what happened. For me that’s a big “red flag” in a series.
Really interesting that there's only one female and one non-binary author on this list.
I think my top 10 series list would actually only have 1-2 male authors on it; plus about half of the authors are BIPOC & about half are LGBT+.
But I do intentionally seek out more marginalized authors, so it's less surprising how much my top 10 has changed :)
Great video!! So many amazing series! My personal favourite is The Stormlight Archive. ❤ Other phenomenal ones are The Licanius Trilogy and The Bound and The Broken. 🤩👌
