I'm really glad you two brought up the idea of characters 'haunting the narrative' because it's an aspect of From's stories that I really appreciate. There's just something about chasing the shadows of legendary figures that's so much more engaging to me than having those characters exposit everything directly to us. I see a lot of people wishing for more lively worlds in From's games, and I can understand that. However, I personally cherish the mysteries in these games as a reflection of how humanity attempts to engage with it's own incomplete history.

I love Mrs. Littletall's accent so much. I can't listen to the whole podcast right now, but looking forward to giving it a full listen in a bit :)

I enjoy coming up with backstories for all my player characters. I came up with a story that made all my Dark Souls characters decedents of each other.

Holy cow, it's been a little while since I've watched a video from this channel and Sophie sounds WAY different!
Contextual story telling definitely makes sense, I think there is a lot of meta-references to that in Elden Ring using light spectrums and eyeballs, illustrating how your perspective effects your view of the world or a subject.

Everything about this video is why I love this community, the passion for the characters, and the willingness to delve into the lore's abstraction to find out what's really going on with these people.
Every Soulsborne title is like a great Shakespearean play except the scenes are out of order (or missing) and we all have to decide what goes where.

I love whenever people talk about Wolf's character. I feel like there isn't enough of that when it comes to Sekiro content.

One headcanon I can think of for dark souls: I always figured Seath betrayed the dragons because of him being scaless. He was either bullied by the other dragons or was super insecure about it and decided he was going to side with others who were scaless too.
Also when he roars in the opening cutscene, I get the impression that he is tormented at what he has done, but he also feels relieved to finally have some kind of revenge or solace. Like its almost therapeutic for him.
This is what the cutscene and story says to me. So I figured I'd share. Anyway great video as always guys

And here we have a good example for a headcanon that is based on the ingame lore ^^

Great video. Loved every minute of it. I also love watching the auto captions desperately try to keep up with Mrs Little when she says Bloodborne character names. xD

My main string of head canon - I always imagine the MC across DS1 // DS3 being the same person. (there are holes in this)
You finish DS1 as the Dark Lord, spurned by the fire because of your true nature. But later, after realizing Kathe manipulated you, you find Ludleth and carry him to the first flame to relight it, burning to ashes in the same room Ludleth kindles himself in.
Later rising as the ashen one in DS3. Realizing you somehow have to break the vicious cycle, you let the first flame fade, and burn the world away for a new one with the help of the Painter.
More than aware that this may not make sense to folks, but it’s more just me trying to give even more meaning to your mission in DS3. You know too much, you’ve seen it all before, and you want to bring an end to all this and give humans a new opportunity in a new world, breaking off the shackles of the curse once and for all.

Great episode and not often talked about. One thing I wish had been brought up was the importance of remembering what is fact and what is headcannon.

I literally had someone call me "an idiot and a liar" for not repeating their favourite creator's pet theory that had no basis in the actual game. It's exhausting.

One of my Bloodborne headcanons is that if you never talk to Gascoigne's daughter a single time, then she her big sister eventually gets home and they both go to sleep. Because if you never talk to her at the window, then her ribbon never appears as a drop from the sewer pig. The only way to get a happy ending for her in my mind.

Of all games I've returned to while I wait for the DLC was the 1st Baldur's gate and there are a few tings about the game that I've noticed recently that really seem to reveal it as even more of an influential game that many already assume. Regarding From Software specifically the entrance to the spider's lair looks identical to the entrance to Quelaag's lair. Specifically the nest of defoliated trees surrounding the entrance. Also, maybe more relevant, the music of the game greatly reminds me of the music of the LofR movies, which came out two years after Baldur's gate. Seriously, listen to the combat music of the game and listen to the orc/Mordor theme and I suspect that some of the music of LofR is directly inspired by the game's music.
I've also returned to Morrowind and have noticed many similarities between it and Elden Ring in their geographic and enigmatic/incomplete storytelling.
I probably feel this way mostly because I returned to these old games with the mindset of, "I wonder what these old games will feel like after I've gotten so familiar with From Software games?"

My headcannon is that Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls series and Sekiro are in the same setting. Not sure about Armoured Core or King's Field. Haven't played those yet.
