This is how I see it:
"Jane" is the name & the life that was stolen from her.
"Eleven" is the name that was assigned to her by a cruel Papa.
"El" is the name that was given to her by friends and loved ones, people who care about her. It's a comforting name.
Personally, I would prefer "El" too. :)

I was wondering of that would be the case after this first episode. Everything was so bright and cheerful I'm expecting everything to come crashing down in a big way.

Important to note that Season 2 took place at Halloween 1984, This season starts in USSR in June 1984 before moving to Hawkins a year later. So the Soviet attempt to open their gate predated all of Season 2 activities in Hawkins.

At one point, you were all talking about "Mike" but two of you were talking about Will, one of you was talking about Lucas, and another one was talking about actual Mike, but not realizing that Nancy is his sister. The utter chaos was mesmerizing.
I think the confusion about the sister was referring to Holly, Mike's younger sister, not Nancy.

Dustin had said what his condition is remember in s1, which the actor has in real life, he has a disability that affects his bones and teeth called cleidocranial dysplasia.. He's lost his baby teeth so hes toothless again. The Pearl's he had in s1 were just his baby teeth I believe. Waiting for his adult teeth to come in.
Didn't he have teeth in season 2? I was trying to remember but never went back to look?
@@RHCrewReactions Yes he did, I just said that lol..He was purring and saying girls wouldn't be able to resist his Pearl's lol.. But i believe those were only his baby teeth that came in though, that was at least 14 months ago.
I was thinking he didn't have front teeth in S1, then had teeth in S2, and now they're gone again in S3. If that's the case they would have had to be dentures or something unless his adult teeth grew in and he lost them. But like I said I don't remember for sure.

As a Russian, I just gotta say - I'm so impressed with their work on this season! First show that actually nailed Russian characters (talking about both pronunciation and the dialogs).
I'm happy to hear it. I was wondering how authentic those performances were.
I'm curious, how was Bauman's Russian (the dude that did all the interpreting)? Did he sound fluent?
Sorry, but most of them speak with bad accent. Only Alexey speaks proper Russian

@@lilac951 well, not in my opinion. If anything, they were bad at acting, but not at speaking Russian itself. I was mainly impressed by the stunts' accents. All the talk in the background was surprisingly proper Russian. They don't usually do it - just remember/watch John Wick.

The comedy really works in this show
It's called a shortwave radio. The signal bounces off the ionosphere and the Earth. So the signal could bounce around the world. While listening is still possible, the number of full time international broadcasters is down. Go figure, Internet.
That's pretty cool. My wife and I were trying to figure out how something that small could have a reach like that.

Her name is Jane to the world so it is important since shes Hoppers adopted daughter, she is still El to us and her friends. It isn't terrible if that's the name she wants and goes by. It basically a nickname which most people get to have... that thing that grabbed Billy's leg was part of what the rats exploded bodies formed I think... Billy has taken Wills place now I think, Will can just sense the Mind Flayer as they were connected for awhile.

Well as a Russian I can assure you guys, those uniforms are clearly Hollywood Russian, but not really like real Russian uniforms. Nor like modern day uniforms, nor like 1985 uniforms =)
Great reaction! Glad to have Rick on board. The show is great, but I'm honestly loving all these little anecdotes from the crew. Slice of life stuff that makes you feel like you're one of them. "Ridiculous!" Also, glad to see reactors calling Mike out on his bullshit. Most think Hopper is crazy for some reason, but my dad and most parents I knew growing up (early 90's) would've beat me and my friends' ass if we ever pulled disrespectful shit like that. Love it.
I was starting to get on board with Hopper's plan to cover up Mike's murder after he kept laughing at him like that lol
Parenting was just different back then; kids didn't go around being all smug and shit, but at the same time kids would spend the day out playing and parents would barely know where they are. Now we have the helicopter parents that accept all the kid's bs.
yeah i like mike and i have no problem with hopper reacting the way he did mike was very smug. But from mike's POV hopper hid eleven away from him for almost a year(he had good reasons for doing that obviously)but that left mike in a bad place so i do understand mike's frustrations with him. I like both of them at the end of the day and can see both sides.
Andy Perez please. Removing important context doesn’t strengthen your argument. Hopper has done whatever is necessary to protect El. Lying included. There’s no alternate reason for Mike to act like an arrogant, disrespectful jerk other than he’s a shitty teenager who irrationally holds resentment towards Hopper for doing what was rather rational in season two.

@@Davida1Dfangirl I believe Mike lost a lot of respect for Hopper at the end of last season. The whispering in Els ear in front of Hop kinda confirmed it to me. And to be honest Hop was a piece of shit, scaring Mike the way he did.

I binge watched all of season 3 on the fourth of July, so I know what you guys are in for this season. I won't post spoilers but I will post this, the George A. Romero version of Dawn of the Dead came out in 1978, many years before Day of the Dead was released. Sorry to be nitpicky but just had to throw that out there.

No it was not out yet. But Mike and his friends attended a special screening prior to nationwide release in order to get initial audience feedback

I came so close to outright dismissing this show, then a week ago I was bored and looking for something to watch (on N-Flix) - figured I'd see what the fuss was about. I binge watched seasons 1 & 2 in five days and now happily watching season 3. So glad I checked it out.
Season 3 goes back to the roots of kids trying to survive all this craziness and I LOVED IT
Mike has two sisters: Holly and Nancy.
I can't say Hopper did nothing wrong either. The kids are kids. Hopper is seeing Mike as what the women of the town saw Hopper as in S1 when they called him out on "player" habits. Hopper is getting angry at kissing because he knows where he went from there with other women totally forgetting about the fact that these kids are early teenagers. They think kissing is the height of relationships. And at that age, it is. All three of them made mistakes.
The season started out just like the others and characters are starting to group and pull on their threads of story.
Seeing this first episode makes me wanna see Hellboy now to see how well David Harbour did with the role

I honestly don’t blame Mike for being a brat to Hopper. He was grieving for a year, probably felt guilty about El’s “death”, literally thought he was going crazy bc he kept seeing and hearing her but couldn’t find her. Then come to find out a cop who was supposed to be on their side was keeping El holed up in his cabin the ENTIRE time (and El probably told him about their fight and how miserable it was there)? He already has issues with authority figures esp from his emotionally deadbeat dad, and he naturally holds grudges and has a temper. I’d be pretty petty about it too. Plus he’s supposed to be 14 in s3, so imagine little season 2 Mike here (when Finn was actually 14) instead of s3 Finn who was actually 16 at the time of filming this! Makes a difference, to me anyway
I never expected Billy would become my favorite character in this show, but he did. He did...
