      @QuantumPsycheqpsych6969 3 месяца назад +4

      Please leave the GOAT thing alone - The era of the big 3 so fresh in all our minds proves that there is a long road to that mountain top and Novak will be sitting on top of it for a long time yet - at the moment we have Jannik and Carlos, but there are some really exciting young prospects coming up/ DYOR - remember the progression from Roger/Nadal then Novak and then Andy showed up along with Stan etc - so my advice to Carlos and Jannik is rack up as many as you can now because it's only going to get harder- even Novak is still well in the picture - 2023 took a lot for the 37 yr old version so I'm hoping he only plays the 2 x 1000's in Beijing and Paris/ misses the ATP finals ( he's won 7 ) and comes into next years Aussie open fresh and injury free - if so we may all get another reminder of who the GOAT is, just like we did at the Olympics ...... having said that I note that Jannik is the closest to 'the Novak mindset' on the horizon at the moment - he gave us a glimpse of that in the way he handled all the B/S flak he took over the doping thing - I respect everything about him and wish him all the best....
      PS eg by the age of 25 Roger had won 12 GS - so to keep pace Jannik has to win 10 GS in next 2 years - Roger 'only won 8 more in the next 15 years etc etc - who knows what's going to happen; competition, injuries, political B/S.....

    • @FExpiate
      @FExpiate 3 месяца назад +1

      @@QuantumPsycheqpsych6969 he is closest to the Novak mindset? I don't see Sinner insulting his coaching team, screaming at the fans and getting disqualified or breaking rackets, taking MTOs and screaming like a baby, so I'd say he's more close to Federer's behavior and mindset than Novak's.
      You can see in the way he plays that Roger was/is his idol growing up, not grunting, not throwing tantrums, being a gentlemen on and off the court.

    His compatriot Niccolo Machiavelli said: "It is more important for a ruler to be feared than to be loved". Sinner has always been a loveable person but he must have felt his innocence slipping away in 2024. This has "allowed" him to focus even more on what matters to win. To some he will be a villain, to most he will remain a top sportsman, but to him that doesn't matter so much (anymore). Only the work, his team and his performance: the things that lead to victory.

    Forza ITA! great seeing my fellow italiano win this one. Even tho im 100% Italian. I felt like my heart was split 50/50 for this one. i dont know how Pegula and Fritz will sleep for next week or month. What a missed. opportunity by fritz. Could have went down as first ever. Sinner looked like he was on wheels moving around that court. Watch the best shot of the match vs Draper. He falls gets up and wins the point

So Forza Italia.. & thinking about my Italian family who will also be over the moon for such a great Italian champion.. Well done to you Jannik.
