'Something' is just sunny's hallucination as far as I know.He and basil were traumatised after seeing mari's corpse staring back at them and thus it was the origin of 'something'.
I had no idea it was Basil's idea to hang her, that explains why he feels so guilty whenever you come into contact with him even tho I thought it was all Sunny.
When I played the first time I thought Basil had accidentally killed Mari somehow and Sunny didn’t know so imagine my surprise when I learned the truth
[May 6, 2023] I knew it was Basil from that scene near the sliding glass door. (Even though some people thought it was a mirror, which I also was confused when I first saw that photo).
The sad thing is that Sunny's parents also partake in hiding the truth of Mari's death. They already lose their daughter, they don't want to lose their now only son.
@@noux I found the mom on the couch saying something like "I lost my only daughter. You are my only son, I cannot lost you as well". Also the dad saying "You are not my son". This really makes things darker.
@@ShaizeOn1 That and “There... There... SUNNY... We’ll protect you”. However, all of these pieces of evidence are all found in Sunny’s mind. The validity of these pieces of evidence, therefore, could be put into question.
I read somewhere on REDDIT that if they were in on the truth, it would remove all the guilt and the burden from SUNNY and BASIL. Or something like that, I'm not too sure anymore, I just quickly read it and found it to be reasonable, don't remember what it said word for word tho
He suffered for 3 years with Basil, but i don't think Mari blamed Sunny to the rest of his life... Shit happens, unfortunately. I was so sad about this story, like that sprite Omori had - miserable...
This makes me feel the panic sunny would’ve went through, losing all control and suddenly snapping out of it to see what was happening, and realising what happened and try to undo what you did
@@mel-yn3dv he was in panic and he was young giving this situation its understandable that he didnt check her pulse it wasnt on his mind even if he felt it while dragging her. Also mari was unconscious so she couldnt move and it was also said that she looked like she was sleeping and needed some rest but when sunny and basil hanged her they saw her eye open so that means she was alive. Thats what makes it even worse if sunny and basil wouldve waited for her to wake up she wouldnt have died and you see that at the end where it says 'you shouldnt have looked back' basically saying that this is even worse than you thought its not an accident anymore you killed mari with your own hands by hanging her. Edit: thought
@@Mi-ln2cg ok i'll explain this, if you are being hanged up alive you dont just "open an eyes", you literally starting to reach air and you'll be moving to get the rope away from you, also sunny DID check the pulse, it was literally said in the photo description, also when you you are in the room with mari and shadow basil, if you check mari it says "this person is not breathing". And yes it can appen that your eyes can open while your dead (that's why usually they close the eyes of a death person with glue so that the eyes will not be open)
@@Mi-ln2cg and the "you shouldnt have looked back" was probably bc seeing your sister with that open eye is f creeping (and the line could also be referring to that fact that from that day sunnys mind has created "something")
I know I'm late to the game with this opinion but Sunny's parents HAD to have known. In such a situation where the chance of foul play is high, Mari's body would have been checked by a coroner. Any coroner with eyes could tell immediately that Mari died of some kind of blunt trauma, not hanging. As soon as they knew that it wasn't hanging, they would question Sunny, as he was the last person to be alone with her. I think that the dad in Black Space saying that Sunny isn't his son anymore was condemning enough, but when you think about it this way, there's no chance the parents could not have known.
I agree, so imma add on some more details: I forgot when it is in the game, but Sunny's mom said "I lost my only daughter, and you, my only son. I can't loose you too". So to protect him they (the parents) went on with the idea that it was a suicide. Also Sunny locked away his violin stuff in the toy box and just left it next to the body. I feel like they'd look in there, see the broken mess of violin pieces and hair and get an idea of what happened even if they weren't told. Still it's not like they were able to forgive and forget. His dad left and his mother started neglecting him. Awkward
@@zo0roo I know, right? The whole time I was playing the game I was thinking WHERE ARE THIS KID'S PARENTS??? He's obviously mentally unwell (and physically!) and his mom is just leaving him alone in an empty house full of his trauma triggers??? I mean, I understand that they're human and probably distanced themselves from him out of grief and anger, but holy shit, get the kid a foster family or something if you don't want to care for him anymore. I think Sunny had something like autism, or maybe anhedonia, maybe a combo of things, before Mari's death because even if the old photos he acts weird, doesn't smile, very quiet, etc... He was not cared for properly for his whole life probably.
@@otterbeans yea, I could see him with anhedonia. Also his parents neglecting him in favor of their first born, perfect daughter. It would explain why Mari cares so much for Sunny (besides being his older sister), because their parents don't. Also I think his mother didn't give him up for multiple reasons, the 2 most important being: 1. As she said, she "can't loose (her) only son" 2. It's still her son. Even if she can't fully commit to talking care of him, he doesn't want to mess him up even more by abandoning him too. If she did his whole family would be gone, his whole life (as he would've had to move anyways).
Thank you for the vid! I thought Mari was just talking with Sunny, or perhaps she was, but Sunny understood it as yelling. Probably even Mari wasn't aware how many emotions Sunny was keeping inside. A sad tragedy.
I mean it would be the parents guilt which makes it more terrible. Cause your kid literally didn't leave the house for 4 years. Sunny should have go to the threapy, parents should have take care of him. Sometimes parents just don't consider you as you can think or feel the depression or something. they just think you'll forget about it but you won't. It becomes even more painful because your just a child and couldn't take the burden and the pain. Its just so sad. They even knew that sunny was so much attached to mari its like so easy to notice that he didn't kill her on purpose. They were just some dumb kids
I'm glad you took Omori seriously. Good work, as always. This game deserves more attention. And she doesn't get even 1 / 10th how much the Undertale get and it's just sad.
Thanks, ahahaha. I do have to kinda agree. Maybe it’s just the overall theme of the game, but no big RUclipsrs are playing this game at the moment despite it being so damn amazing.
@@simplymax1337 Yeah, that’s valid. Though if you put it that way, Manly could also qualify. He played the game like 3 days after its release. What we mostly mean here when we say Omori is underrated is the fact that no RUclipsr in the million subscriber range, let alone the high millions range, has played it yet, despite the game being released months ago. :/
@Anonymous Mari was not dead. She was unconscious. The fall down the stairs could not have killed her. The “SOMETHING” is Mari. When they looked back at Mari’s (now lifeless) body, her eyes were open. It’s possible for a deceased person to have open eyes. This is why in the normal route of the game, Basil keeps mentioning you of the SOMETHING behind you. He can see it too, because you both saw the same thing when Mari’s eyes were opened. SOMETHING is basically a memory of Mari TL;DR: SOMETHING is Mari’s dead body
@Anonymous Apparently on the wiki, it says that she fell face first onto the broken violin, so she either died from maybe blunt force trauma or a snapped neck, either way it’s freaking disturbing
@@Aimi_Kaneko yeah, in all jumpscares/hallucinations including Mari, we can see that the sprite has its head tilted to the side, so the most logical explanation is that she indeed snapped her neck in the fall
As someone who beat beat the true route more recently and had a bit of a fuzzy understanding of what happened... This video helped a lot in helping me understand what truly happened. Maybe it's because of the unused descriptions for the pictures that you used? Either way this was a fantastic video! I highly recommend anyone who has beaten the game to watch this just so you can fully understand what happened!
also. wasn't the piano room on the bottom floor? why was the argument at the *top* of the stairs unless he had run away upstairs? if that was the case, why run back down Edit: maybe Sunny was practicing alone in their room?
Would Photo of an Accident be better, though? It would not have hit as hard haha. The whole point of this game is to reduce you, a grown man, into a literal crying fetus.
@@noux Yeah. Part of moving on is accepting your mistakes. Sunny's been hiding away from this one for a long time now. He needs to face the fact that he killed Mari, and he's now an only child that will never see his sister again. And then he needs to accept it was a mistake and that he is worthy of forgiveness and he is allowed to feel happy.
I just don't understand why would they not leave this in the game. It has such a clarification to the truth, I've seen many people to not understand it fully just by the pictures.
2:32 this it actually how she die she would live by fallen down stair possible brain problem or to fatal and broken bone and small chance of death. However she falling viontoolin is different case. By taking look she landed on her side and it doesn't tell us how much hit she took but the violin is possible in the 511-731 G it depend for Sunny. So by taking some major impact on the stair the violin is the actual cause since it she hit something that not flat like sure smashing into wood of stair made hurt but an violin can be used to smash into somebody and knock them out.
God, I wish the text was added in the final game. Maybe it’s because I’m stupid but during my first playthrough I had no idea what was going on or what Basil was doing there. It also really adds more impact to know what Sunny was feeling at the time
Lmao your not alone. I legit thought when Sunny pushed Mari down the stairs she survived and in a fit of outrage she punched Sunny and knocked him out at the bottom of the stairs. Overcome with guilt and all the other untold emotions she may have bottled up inside, she went outside to hang herself. Basil was just there sitting silently while he wittnesed everything and did nothing. I was really confused why Mari would go to such drastic measures so i looked it up on the internet and low and behold i get the truth. I feel pretty dumb myself but the photo at 6:13 looks like Mari holding Sunny's unconscious body as a result from punching him.
i could of sworn it was... when i did my playthrough i got all the text. ...did my friend install mods without me knowing? (this WOULD explain why i couldnt see the text on my switch version)
@@TJ-hg6op If you notice, all the "truth photos" are BASIL's perspective. HE witnessed MARI fall. HE helped SUNNY bring her outside. HE tied the noose. All SUNNY did was have a burst of rage which he regretted for years. BASIL was the one who covered it up.
This is really good! Though, I would recommend having the images already viewed fade away or be ripped up to allow the viewer to slowly see how things are getting wrapped up. Other than that, it's incredibly well-made! Awesome job!
I do wish they'd kept the photo descriptions in the final game. I understand "Show, don't tell," but sometimes telling in addition to showing can help make things just that much clearer. Also, where were Sunny and Mari's parents when all this happened? Were they out of the house? I at first thought it was very late at night when playing through it and thought that even if they were asleep, the sounds of the arguing, the breaking of the violin, and Mari crashing down the stairs had to have woken them up, but the descriptions make it clear that it was just barely dusk and the sun was only just about to set. So where were they? If they were anywhere in the house, they had to have heard and seen what had happened. My only real guess is that they had to be out of the house, there's just no way they wouldn't be involved otherwise.
It’s possible they were at the recital area making final preparations before heading home to pick up their kids and go there. My parents do that sort of thing all the time with big events. Alternatively, the two might have just had shift jobs that didn't allow them to be at home much. It was the same with my parents when I was young and it was roughly late October so the sun would be setting earlier so they might've just not gotten off work yet or were on their way home.
BASIL you're the real psycho in this story. I mean, I know it's only a teenager in a desperate moment, but if you look at BASIL's behavior it's always kind of twisted and sick. And this plan is insane.
It get where your coming from. BASIL was only looking out for his friend so he’s not named a “murderer” but BASIL could have handled it in a way better situation than staging MARI’S death as suicide
@@onettaviator5396 He likely saw SOMETHING (Mari's eye traumatized them the most after all) and tried to attack it, except SOMETHING isn't physical so he instead accidentally hurt Sunny.
Wait… I have a theory..! What if when Sunny pushed Mari down the staircase, she fell into a state called “Clinical Death” where her heart and her breathing stops, but she’s not dead dead, Clinical Death is reversible after all. That would actually explain why after Sunny and Basil hang her, they end up seeing one of her eyes open, which scarred them, she did actually die, but it wasn’t from her being pushed down the staircase That’s just my theory though, I could be completely wrong Either way, nice video Renoux!
when people die falling from a ladder and they probably die from breaking their neck, at the moment of falling they don't close their eyes, probably she was surprised and because of the impression she had she kept them open, they didn't see her eyes before because her hair covered her face momentarily, although it can also be a decision by OMOCAT to give it a touch of fear
But if it did how would not one notice I'm pretty sure she had landed head-first on the violin so it adjusted her fall and caused her neck to bend/snap (since what helmari-o looks like) which can and does happen when someone hangs themselves so that why. no one questioned it.
Thank you for this video! I think it really helps clear a few things up. For example, the fact that Mari was just knocked out once hitting the ground and hadn't actually died until Basil hung her. Though Sunny thought she was dead- Also, Sunny was in too much of a panic to check her breathing.
Hey! Sorry for the late reply. Your comment was flagged as “held for review” so I couldn’t see it until now. Anyways, yeah, that could’ve been what had happened. However, my personal opinion is that Mari actually died due to being pushed. The eye being opened is really just the result of the eyelids losing their strength to keep it closed. Note that this is just my personal opinion. It is equally valid that she could’ve died later rather than earlier. It was never expressly stated after all.
@@noux yeah, there is room for theories here. I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct about her eyelids losing strength. I realized there's also a chance that Sunny thought that meant she was alive before they hung her. There are many ways to interpret this.
@@maddrumsticks If he had really thought so, that would make the whole experience all the more depressing. To think Something is not only the manifestation of guilt, but of the hatred he thought she had for him as well.
@@maddrumsticks True, well, the game never explicitly tells you anything during the truth album sequence, it's more or less up to interpretation. The transcriptions took away some of that interpretation freedom, but there is still a lot of room to discuss.
Just finished the game yesterday night and I love how well done these photos are in order to create room for interpretation. Like the one were you can see Sunny's mouth it could be interpreted as a slight smirk hinting to both the fact that he is either dissociating or enjoying what is happening. This being said, I am 100% convinced that Mari was unconscious but alive when she was hanged. My main 2 reasons is: 1.- Basil's extreme guilt makes no sense if he is just part of a cover up. Since the photos are all from Basil's perspective and he is the one reaching for the rope one can interpret that it was his idea to try to cover up the whole ordeal by making it look like a suicide. If it was hanging her what ultimately killed Mari, both Basil's guilt and Sunny's disassociation makes perfect sense. 2.- Eyes staring back at Sunny/Omori is a constant in the game and I refuse to believe it is just a coincidence that the "something" is literally a bunch of hair and an eye staring at you, specially when you take into account the last photo. I know this is all interpretative but I kinda love that one of the biggest motifs of the game is "not confronting truth for being too horrible" and some people refuse to even take into account this idea by going to the weirdest lengths to dismiss it.
Guilt is emotional, not logical. You can feel guilty for something you didn’t do or that you had no control over. The eyes have several possible explanations. The one that I think is the most likely is that he felt watched. He felt people seeing it as a form of his guilt. Perhaps there was no one besides Basil there, but trauma can cause some f**ked-up things. Another idea I had was that he felt as though Mari’s body was staring at him, judging him. Her eyes were likely open the whole time if she was dead, so it could have felt lifelike to Sunny, especially considering his emotional state at the time.
I’m so glad that so many people who are Omori fans are YTTD fans as well. Two brilliant, but underrated games. Well, I’d expect you all of all people to have good taste.
Wow, I’m an idiot. I was so drawn to the pictures and text that I completely MISSED the change at 5:32. Do NOT know why I missed that. But that just goes to show how perfect it works w/ Omori’s soundtrack.
@@peachy_keen8498 Hard to believe that these tracks were made in garage band, honestly ahahaha. Zetsubou, All move forward, tengoku, horror-ginen, etc. Banger tracks the whole nine yards.
I really wish this had been in the game. It might've messed with the pacing of the game, but it would've been absolutely worth it, especially if it was put into photo album form, and it forced you to review them in chronological order. I mean, just reading this gave a lot more background into what Sunny was thinking when it happened. And I think it would've added just a drop more of depth into a huge pre-existing pool of it. Don't know if that's a hot take, but yeah. I wish...
I hope everybody knows that Mari wasn't a bad sister. If you payed attention to the story (both neutral and hikikomori) you'll obviously understand. random edit: oh yeah i have a small theory that Mari never really died when she fell. it's possible that she just passed out due to the impact. it's almost impossible for someone to die easily like that.
@@_Puppe It's not heavily implied, it's directly shown, but again that doesn't mean that much knowing your body, for the first hour after your death, becomes soft and flexible and that it underwent a lot of manipulation. From the bringing up the stairs to when they hang her, her body kept being moved around, and your eyelids falling open when your head is bowed makes a lot of sense when you think about it, there's no more muscle resistance at all. Also there's this scene in black space with a room full of Mari's, this scene really stood out to me as its meaning can't be taken litteraly and there's no obvious answer to what it is, but i really like to think that it represents the idea that Mari didn't die from the fall but slowlyy collapsed into her death on the bed, it showed that Sunny checked lots of time for her breathing, and it might have gotten more and more faint until he couldn't do anything about it, and then Basil stepped in and you know what happens next.
My crush is almost done with Omori she hasn't found out The Truth yet so once she does I'll explain it the best way I can or send her this video but I feel bad that she'll have to rewatch The Truth again but in order.
OMG, think you so much for this! :O I heard there was a way to somehow get context for all of these unlike the eerie way it's supposed to play in the game when you actually get to the end of the game, but I didn't know how... I was wondering if I was missing out on anything on how exactly it really played out or not...
Part of me still doesn't understand why he would break the violin in the first place. As someone whose played an instrument for years, I would be extremely mad at Sunny in Mari's position. I mean, of course I understand the frustration of making mistakes repeatedly, but breaking something that everyone else worked so hard to get would not be something I would easily excuse.
I think it was an accident more than anything. He was angry, he lost his cool and he just wasn’t in any condition to think straight. Think back to how many gamers out there have broken their monitors just because they lost a match. It’s not something you can excuse, yes. But I think it’s something at least some of us can relate to.
when you're really upset your mind isn't thinking about the long term, you're just trying to get the emotion out. when i was really frustrated and about to have a mental breakdown i broke my instruments by throwing them, i still wanted to play the instruments but your mind just goes monkey mode so i think it makes sense for Sunny to break his violin in that moment
he's clearly feeling emotion so intense that he's not being logical...it's not like he thought it was a smart thing to do. even before Mari's death he was probably dealing with low self esteem and bad thoughts about himself, so he couldn't stand the pressure and also making so many mistakes despite all the practice. The sound of Mari hitting his violin "woke him up."
I never understood why this isnt official, it would have worked way better than just seeing the photos, and would have left a way bigger impact. Its way more impactful to read it from the perspective of Sunny than us trying to figure it out
can I suggest an idea for a video? can you make a video with all the moments where NPCs give gifts when Hero is tagged as leader? I think it would be interesting
this is the short iceberg of omori ''something'' is sunny's feeling of guilt when killing mari(or sunny's regret) and why ''something'' often suddenly appears because when omori approaches the truth, that feeling of regret arises, so who the ''truth'' the ''truth'' it's ''basil'' because only basil saw when sunny killed Mari, so he knew the truth so at that moment Basil is found by Omori which is a character made by Sunny to protect him from the truth. Kill Basil and make Omori stronger or Sunny's feelings of innocence.
Ahahaha, that was an experimental short I posted. I was already done with the basic ground work for this video and has recently discovered that shorts was a thing so I though “why not?”.
WHY would they leave this out of the final game? What were they thinking? Like sure you can kind of piece together what happened without the narration, but you don’t know what Sunny’s thoughts and feelings were during the event, or that Sunny didn’t actually participate in the staging at all! Also, damn I love Basil but he is fucked up.
I wish they left those narrations of the photos in the game. I feel like they felt it overexplained what we were seeing, but it added much needed context and details to these dark blurry photos to really understand how it went down.
I don’t think so, personally. If you’re talking about the fact her eyes were opened at the end, some commenters have proven that it was due to the loss of muscle strength of a dead body, causing the eyelids to not have enough strength to keep it closed. If she was alive, I find it strange she wouldn’t at least try to struggle free a bit the moment she found herself being hanged. I mean, her body should wake up during suffocation if she was still alive. :/
@@tweer64 Kinda complicated. Basil could not wrap his head around the idea that his pure, perfect Sunny had murdered his sister, so he convinced himself that Sunny had been possessed by an evil spirit instead. Basil didn't want Sunny to be blamed for the crime that he falsely believed Sunny was innocent of, so he helped Sunny cover up the murder. As for why he specifically picked faking a hanging...he's a weird kid. Maybe he couldn't think of anything else.
Well, muscles relax after death, it explains eyes and mouth of the deceased opening. Wait- is this canon- sorry I'm a little new to the fandom so could someone please tell me if this is canon? QwQ Edit: I know that the events happened, like sunny killed Mari, and basil framed it, but I was wondering if this photo thing in order with the dialogue boxes was part of the game or not.
It originated from the transcripts in the files of the game. They supposedly removed it because it would interfere with the flow of the sequence. But, yes, they are still very much cannon. I just took the transcripts and slapped together a video. The dialogue boxes weren’t implemented in the game and you couldn’t actually play it in-game.
1:34 oh my god i was just thinking "i'm really glad they're playing the title music instead of the loud piano note that plays in the game at this part! it really creeps me out when games do that" and that scared the absoloute SHIT out of me 😭
Does anyone find it weird that the Police, Doctors, or anyone else found out that hanging wasn’t the cause of death and something worse happened? Idk maybe the police was underfunded at the moment.
oh god i cant stop thinking abt this video,, and that ending with the musc....really described everything what seemed indescribable....great video! was wondering though, whats the music that plays in the end there?
I was just looking for a soundtrack that fits the “This isn’t real” line on the omori ost playlist when I realized there was a better ost in the yttd playlist that had everything I wanted lol :)
Why didn't they put this in the main game? The game already overdoes things that are inconsequential (like putting birds that explain Humphrey Bridges) , so why not give us this bit of clarity?
so people could come to their own conclusions about why they were arguing and what they were feeling at the time but i think the descriptions make it a lot better
@@ck11032 its the feelings behind it not just sunny destroying his violin, the cut captions suggest Sunny felt entitled to Mari's kindness and love even after destroying what they worked on for long, it directly shows how he was feeling when doing it too. like it shows that sunny, in a rage, DID mean to push Mari for example among many other things

I was shocked when I realized that the “thing” following Omori was actually Mari’s corpse haunting him and reminding him of what he did
'Something' is just sunny's hallucination as far as I know.He and basil were traumatised after seeing mari's corpse staring back at them and thus it was the origin of 'something'.
Mari didn't haunt sunny
@@zane6586 he meant haunting like a haunting memory/trauma.
@@toasterofdoom9629 I guess?
@@zane6586 what do you mean you guess? That's what they meant.
It was heavily implied but never explicitly stated. However, I do wholeheartedly believe that was what that had happened.
you mean mom, right?.
@@noux I found the mom on the couch saying something like "I lost my only daughter. You are my only son, I cannot lost you as well". Also the dad saying "You are not my son". This really makes things darker.

I read somewhere on REDDIT that if they were in on the truth, it would remove all the guilt and the burden from SUNNY and BASIL. Or something like that, I'm not too sure anymore, I just quickly read it and found it to be reasonable, don't remember what it said word for word tho
man i cant imagine how sunny felt during this i feel so bad

This makes me feel the panic sunny would’ve went through, losing all control and suddenly snapping out of it to see what was happening, and realising what happened and try to undo what you did
I had a feeling Mari was unconscious the whole time, and this had made me feel more sad and terrified if that was the case
its impossibile, if she would then when basil and sunny hang up her she would move
and also, sunny touches her arm to see if there is a beat, but there isnt
I agree, so imma add on some more details:
I forgot when it is in the game, but Sunny's mom said "I lost my only daughter, and you, my only son.
Also I think his mother didn't give him up for multiple reasons, the 2 most important being:
1. As she said, she "can't loose (her) only son"
2. It's still her son. Even if she can't fully commit to talking care of him, he doesn't want to mess him up even more by abandoning him too. If she did his whole family would be gone, his whole life (as he would've had to move anyways).
It is said hearing is the last sense to go after death, so there's a chance Mari heard Sunny pleading for her wake up
@skazzu :trol:

Thank you for the vid! I thought Mari was just talking with Sunny, or perhaps she was, but Sunny understood it as yelling. Probably even Mari wasn't aware how many emotions Sunny was keeping inside. A sad tragedy.
Imagine the ending where Sunny kills himself. Just imagine his mom's reaction to it. She lost both of her children. Heartbreaking.
And her husband left her
There is an ending like that it's the bad ending he jumps of a hospital building
@Frays77 yeah seriously. With only a cold, hard steak to eat.
There's an ending where you stab yourself in the real world which ends the game early
This should get more attention in couple of days, this is really well made

The final photo brings up a very creepy thought; was Mari still alive throughout it all? But the noose is what finally did her in? Scary.
SOMETHING is basically a memory of Mari
TL;DR: SOMETHING is Mari’s dead body
Can someone tell me why Basil was even there to begin with?
@@squish_39 the fall down the stairs *could* not have killed her

@Anonymous Apparently on the wiki, it says that she fell face first onto the broken violin, so she either died from maybe blunt force trauma or a snapped neck, either way it’s freaking disturbing
@@Aimi_Kaneko yeah, in all jumpscares/hallucinations including Mari, we can see that the sprite has its head tilted to the side, so the most logical explanation is that she indeed snapped her neck in the fall

Hm, that’s a good idea! When I do more videos with this, I’ll be sure to keep that in mind.
Yeah for sure. I kinda wonder how Basil got in there, but I guess leaving doors unlocked was kinda still common in the 2000s.
Instead of either reporting it or trying to help mf HUNG A CORPSE AND SAID SHE KILLED HERSELF
he's not *even* a teenager. they were both 12. that just adds to the tragedy
Not enough people talk about how fucked up Basil's actions are. This AND trying to kill Sunny?
@@onettaviator5396 He likely saw SOMETHING (Mari's eye traumatized them the most after all) and tried to attack it, except SOMETHING isn't physical so he instead accidentally hurt Sunny.
If Basil saw Mari's open eye as well then that means it wasn't a hallucination and she was actually still alive.
Great video. Spooky as heck.
Thanks hahaha
Wait… I have a theory..! What if when Sunny pushed Mari down the staircase, she fell into a state called “Clinical Death” where her heart and her breathing stops, but she’s not dead dead, Clinical Death is reversible after all. That would actually explain why after Sunny and Basil hang her, they end up seeing one of her eyes open, which scarred them, she did actually die, but it wasn’t from her being pushed down the staircase
That’s just my theory though, I could be completely wrong
Either way, nice video Renoux!
to my understanding clinical death is only reversible with medical attention, so Mari would not have been conscious or able to open her eye
@@bjrnenbjrn2599 but one of the photos said that she look like sleeping, If you turn back and see your death sister looking at you...god
It said in a scene with her on the bed that she was definitely dead. She died from the fall 100%
when people die falling from a ladder and they probably die from breaking their neck, at the moment of falling they don't close their eyes, probably she was surprised and because of the impression she had she kept them open, they didn't see her eyes before because her hair covered her face momentarily, although it can also be a decision by OMOCAT to give it a touch of fear
I think she was after falling not dead nor unconscious a bit between so she would be save if the fist aid showed up fast if not no then u know
And Sunny doesn't leave the house for 4 years..
Yes Mari died from the fall not immediately though it was the broken violin it dug into her head and killed her (Shown by the hair on it)
But if it did how would not one notice I'm pretty sure she had landed head-first on the violin so it adjusted her fall and caused her neck to bend/snap (since what helmari-o looks like) which can and does happen when someone hangs themselves so that why. no one questioned it.
i didnt know the game until now.. so terrifying yet so sad and depressing..
Thank you for this video! I think it really helps clear a few things up. For example, the fact that Mari was just knocked out once hitting the ground and hadn't actually died until Basil hung her. Though Sunny thought she was dead-
Also, Sunny was in too much of a panic to check her breathing.
@@noux Yeah that's true-
But it's all up to how you want to interpret it.
@@maddrumsticks True, well, the game never explicitly tells you anything during the truth album sequence, it's more or less up to interpretation. The transcriptions took away some of that interpretation freedom, but there is still a lot of room to discuss.
fact: a side effect of anxiety is ice cold hands and feet
5:30 really didn't expect the YTTD ost there
you did a great job today, keep it up
Just finished the game yesterday night and I love how well done these photos are in order to create room for interpretation. Like the one were you can see Sunny's mouth it could be interpreted as a slight smirk hinting to both the fact that he is either dissociating or enjoying what is happening.
This being said, I am 100% convinced that Mari was unconscious but alive when she was hanged. My main 2 reasons is:
1.- Basil's extreme guilt makes no sense if he is just part of a cover up.

Poor sunny man :(
I really wish this had been in the game. I wish...
[May 6, 2023] I agree but they are in the files of the game, but I will still be better if they were readable in the gameplay.
I kind of have a weird feeling that it swapped from sunny to basil because of the amount of everything will be okays
I think it’s Sunny partially calming down. Like one moment his voice is shaking, the next it’s calmed down a bit.
This was such a dope video very well made
i concur
I hope everybody knows that Mari wasn't a bad sister. If you payed attention to the story (both neutral and hikikomori) you'll obviously understand.
random edit: oh yeah i have a small theory that Mari never really died when she fell. it's possible that she just passed out due to the impact. it's almost impossible for someone to die easily like that.
one unfortunate fall can end your life, death is never far away
@@rando2284 but even in the game, its heavily implied that her eyes were closed for the fall, and open after being hung
Even sunny, the one most open to denial, said she wasn't breathing at the bottom of the stairs
As resilient as the Human body is, yes, people do die easily like that.

OMG, think you so much for this! :O I heard there was a way to somehow get context for all of these unlike the eerie way it's supposed to play in the game when you actually get to the end of the game, but I didn't know how...
I was wondering if I was missing out on anything on how exactly it really played out or not...
the dialogue box script was in the game, just isn't readable.
@@peefstar4908 plus, Sunny is around 12 during these events. Kids don’t exactly have great impulse control, especially in emotional situations
he's clearly feeling emotion so intense that he's not being logical...it's not like he thought it was a smart thing to do. even before Mari's death he was probably dealing with low self esteem and bad thoughts about himself, so he couldn't stand the pressure and also making so many mistakes despite all the practice. The sound of Mari hitting his violin "woke him up."
it wasn't just about the instrument anymore
I never understood why this isnt official, it would have worked way better than just seeing the photos, and would have left a way bigger impact. Its way more impactful to read it from the perspective of Sunny than us trying to figure it out

@@noux Go forth, Renoux! Be youtuber as you always meant to be
@@dummy____ Ahahahaha. Thanks! That’s reassuring
this is the short iceberg of omori
''something'' is sunny's feeling of guilt when killing mari(or sunny's regret)
and why ''something'' often suddenly appears
because when omori approaches the truth, that feeling of regret arises, so who the ''truth'' the ''truth'' it's ''basil''
because only basil saw when sunny killed Mari, so he knew the truth
so at that moment Basil is found by Omori which is a character made by Sunny to protect him from the truth.
Kill Basil and make Omori stronger or Sunny's feelings of innocence.
Oddly Enough, I got the shorts version of this reccomended UNDER this video.
What’s really sad is it pretty sure that Mari was alive after falling, just like unconscious or comatose, BUT FUCKING BASIL SAYS LETS HANG HER
I don’t think so, personally. :/
@@noux at the description it also said "Photo of a murder" when she fell down so i think yea
Why did Basil even consider doing that? It's the only major plot hole the game has.
Also, extremely important when attending first aid to someone who's suspected to have a spine injury, you NEVER move the injured without trained medical staff. Movement can cause even more damage. Dragging her up the stairs was just another nail to the coffin.
