I always keep a copy of my passport & visa page in my wallet, it’s a legal requirement to carry ID on you at all times in Thailand. If you didn’t have the camera on he would have gone away for 200b
You can also make a photo of your passport and visa ( drivings licence ) and put it in your cellphone - you do not have to carrie ther real one with you all the time - If they ask for the real one You can go to your hotel and take that to the police station - Most important thing is : stay out of trouble and behave yourself a litlte bit 😉
i get arrested too at the same police station twice in the same day, i paid 400 bath both times... in the morning, no helmet, no licence and in afternoon, i had parked the motorbike on the red and white lines. ..Was a funny wasted day.

Well, how times have changed in Pattaya, as a 15 year in 1982 I hired a Suzuki 125 without a lid, the Thai guy hiring the bikes on Beach Rd just wanted to see my passport and know where I was staying., no dramas with the Police either.
Spent the night in the cells in soi 9 after refusing to pay the boys in brown 30K for some trumped up charges ,I paid 40k bail (Which i got back)and went to court a couple of days later ended up paying 3500 baht .
How long you been in Thailand man? Have the paperwork on you and avoid this crap usually. I see so often farang/foreigners living in Thailand for years and they leave everything at home all paperwork. You are not a citizen and never will be in Thailand. That particular cop is an officer, if he wanted, he could have put in jail so you would have to pay more fines! It is all about the fines with us as we have money. Thai citizens have no money they are not fined like we are, just the way it is in Thailand! My Thai wife does the driving in Thailand or I rent a driver for like 20.00/day, cheaper than petrol!
if they clamp your bike or illegal parking or whatnot, often-times it's quicker/cheaper to just send a motorbike taxi driver to fix it up. official fine is 500, they'll provide the service for an additional 100. probably just give the cops 300. can save you an hour of time.

I got pulled over by Police for not wearing a mask, right by walking street, he showed me a big plastic card which had in big letters Maximum fine 20,000Baht, I obviously wasn’t going to pay that, he took me into a small room with about another 4 policemen, I just put my hand in my pocket and had 3,000Baht and his eyes lite up so didn’t feel like any other option but to let him have it and get out of there, I was really cornered and obviously ripped off! This happened last year! Guys that spot by the walking street sign is the top place for the police to catch tourists beware!
i got stopped in Ayia Napa riding without a helmet (me and pillion) - id been riding for over a week but then one day the coppers were pulling bikes in for no helmet etc ,so just as they were dealing with me they had also pulled a local taxi driver and he got mad as hell at the cops,dont know what he had done(think it was seatbelt maybe) but the cops started wrestling with the taxi driver and one cop was reaching for his gun ,i was looking at the other cop who told us to get gone GOOO!!! so i did as i was told and hid the bike, fooked off into town for a bit, later on i returned with helmet n took the bike back to the hire shop
This happened to me, but on return the cop finished for the day, had to pay fine and the release fee from some dump yard for the bike. Pattaya is a shithole, so many nice places to visit in Thailand

Had a little chat about drinck driving laws in uk 😂😂 Then gave me 500 baht back Have to say he was ok as far as coppers go 😂😂 love the vlogs I’m back in jomtien in January for 3 months. Look out for you. And have a Leo and a biffda😊mark. Ormskirk nr Liverpool
Yah, gotta wear the basher. They love to give tickets. Typically, they just pull you into the cop box at the beginning of Walking and let you settle in $ on the spot or hold your license/ID/passport for "safekeeping" until you pay🤣 I guess keeping your key ENSURES compliance. No doubt you got an actual ticket (as opposed to a $ donation) as you were filming.
@@cabovermike I was thinking same even tho I'll never ride (again) without a helmet. I rode for 7 wks in Pattaya (May-June) with no issues then got stopped 2x in 7 days for silly things. It's like a switch was hit and the rules all of the sudden applied🤣😂$$$

@@anthonydowling3356 , correct... when I go over to Thailand I make sure I have actual paper copies x5 of my passport, Aussie drivers license, International Drivers Permit and Health Insurance details... as well as have them on my phone.. (in case the hard copy I give them goes "missing" I can still show them..) and in two different locations ;) I also wear a proper helmet.. more than likely your own home country makes you wear one so why not do it there too, as even at the low speeds travelled at around town, if you do get hit and come off and land wrong can be quite a game changer... I also wear proper shoes and at least jeans and a light jacket.. "gravel rash" is not your friend ! It might seem a bit over the top, but I have learnt by experience, you don't want your trip spoilt by a painful and possibly avoidable injury.. I have been over there 5 times now and never had a problem with the cops, they have looked at me a few times... I have given them a quick nod, as "Hello, yes I see you too".. but not pulled me over.. Yet ! Maybe on my next trip, I might "win the lottery" ;)

Well mine did buddy, the normal uk license is nothing hear BUT the International license is now recognized, you need to have all stamps, The police where happy with mine

The only one should be processed are these thai bike owners “companies” who are illegally renting out motorcycles that are illegally parked on thai public streets and on top of that are illegally washed on the thai public streets. They got me before said i was going down a 1 way street he asked me for 500 baht I said no I will go and pay it and the police station when I got to the station I was charged 400 baht. The cop was Raging when I came back to get my motorbike key because he didn't get to pocket the 500baht😆

can be hit or miss though. sometimes thai cops demand to see the originals, and will ask 500 or 1,000 baht.

Most Thai crash helmets would never pass a test in the UK and not fastening the straps makes em useless but no worries eh?
same in viet nam, been stopped countless times with flimsy/cosmetic helmets, just 4mm of soft plastic. keeps 'em happy, if not around £10 fine.

can you show a picture of your stamped international license mate i only have 2 stamps on mine
go to your post office and ask them to stamp your license, mine is fully stamped, There are 3 international licenses you know, I have 2 of them

Thai police are a pain, but there is also the tourist police, so if things go too wrong, you just give the tourist police a call, the Thais hate it

Well you had a nice 850 meters carefree bike ride. The only one should be processed are these thai bike owners “companies” who are illegally renting out motorcycles that are illegally parked on thai public streets and on top of that are illegally washed on the thai public streets. However they rather fine tourists about an helmet.

The cops in Pattaya are just gangsters! They got me before said i was going down a 1 way street he asked me for 500 baht I said no I will go and pay it and the police station when I got to the station I was charged 400 baht. The cop was Raging when I came back to get my motorbike key because he didn't get to pocket the 500baht😆
